Kristen's POV

It's hard to stay put at this point when I know the time for the Luna's rite is here. Something which has given me sleepless nights for the past two days.

The hall is jam-packed with over a thousand people from our pack to witness this. And everyone is wearing modern outfits, save for me who's dressed like a woman in the 17th century.

All eyes are on me, waiting to see what next will take place. They're watching me with caution as if I am a newly made sculpture, protected by a glass case at the museum.

All their phones and tabs were seized from them so they wouldn't take pictures or film me as the ritual takes place, as it is forbidden.

The Luna's rite was something that occurred three centuries ago in the Greyhound pack, so none of them were able to witness it. That's why everyone is eager for tonight, I am sure they've anticipated this for the past few days.

With instructions from the big black book, two servants are holding each of my arms. Waiting for the right tim

Kristen's POVOnce again, the maids from before near my side, and they take hold of my arms and lead me towards where Elder Festus is standing, holding the tray of what I am about to eat. The bull's heart and testicles. Signifying that the main dreadful Luna's rite is about to begin. The bull's heart and testicles wouldn't have been so gross if they were cooked. But they're fresh, still bloody. And I ground my teeth to keep from gagging. It takes enough courage within me to stand in front of such a nauseating sight. "You know as it goes," Elder Festus says."Yes," I reply, after wiping the blood from my face."Are you ready, or do you need a few minutes to prepare?" Elder Festus inquires. And I hesitate before replying, "I am ready, sir."He gives me a firm nod and then holds out the tray."Take and eat from it, Kristen. You're to finish everything on this tray."Quietly, I nod.My hands are shivering as I stretch them out to take the bull's testicle. And not a single sound is made

Kristen's POVI stop when I am halfway through finishing the bull's heart, I do it because if I keep going, I will be unable to keep myself from throwing up. This is one of the most tortuous experiences I've ever had, except the time I was kidnapped by Jack the Rogue Psycho and got tortured and manipulated by him.My nipples are all itchy and aching, and it's the first time I have had such an experience. The gust of wind through the large windows is drying up the bull's blood on my body.Aiden's cries have lessened to cooing, and the audience is still waiting for me to continue. The Luna's rite is a lot more barbaric than I predicted. Had I known, I would have practiced eating fresh testicles before today, and maybe I would have mastered the art of eating them. But I was too occupied with Aiden and worrying about my lack of milk to breastfeed my child."You're taking much longer, Kristen," Elder Festus' voice rings out, sliding me out of my thoughts. And it dawns on me that I have w

Calhoun's POV Seven months later."He's a rogue, got kicked out of his pack three months ago. Ever since, no one wants him in their pack because of his looks," Bruce makes this known to me.And true to Bruce's words, the young man's face is a bit too good-looking for my liking, and I feel a little bit threatened. He's shabbily dressed and his shoes are worn out and muddy, making his toes stick out of the holes. Beside him is an equally poorly dressed young girl, who's holding onto an aid stick for support. It was past Midnight when an alarm was raised on my premises, and my men ran around, screaming that there was an intruder. As the head of the house, I went out to see, only to find my men trampling on a young man, while the girl was held aside. The young man claimed he wasn't an intruder, and he was trying to get his starved sister some food."What's your name?" I ask, after letting these thoughts slide."Theodore," he lowers his head to the floor."Release him," I command the bod

But his sister is a blind, scrawny little thing whose bone I can break into two. They arrived looking like beggars, with no car or anything. Alpha Calhoun took pity on them and let them in. I saw it with my very eyes." The first maid pauses from wiping dust off the staircase.I came right on time to overhear their gossip.I have been standing outside, listening to the maids gossip as they set to work this evening. And then, I decide it's time I make my presence known. "My Luna," they flinch upon seeing me, clearly not expecting my presence at such an hour."What's going on here?" Propping Aiden on my hip, I scan the faces of the maids."It's about the man from last night," the tall maid blurts out."A man?" My eyes lower into a squint as I pull Aiden's hand away from tugging my hair."Yes, a Rogue," replies the sec

  • Let Me Go, Alpha Calhoun    152: Theodore

Theodore's POVA few minutes earlier.I've heard about Calhoun, the rumors of him being an unusually generous man. How he goes out of his way to help thousands of people rise to their feet. Men envy him. Women admire him.Children adore him.So, when my blind sister and I got kicked out of our pack due to our late dad's unmeasurable debts, I knew the Greyhound pack was the only option we had left. We let our wolves do the running for thirty hours, past several other packs, until we reached the Greyhound pack at midnight. At first, they thought we were intruders, his men fought with me upon knowing my sister and I were rogues. Right until we were held captive and then someone called the attention of Calhoun who arrived with his beta. It was my first time seeing the most talked about Alpha in the East, he looked exactly the way he was described. At first, he was skeptical when I told him the truth about my identity but when he saw my sister, Georgina, he took pity on us and accepte

Calhoun's POV"Have you ever thought about having a second mate, while Kristen is still in the picture," Bruce barges into my study without even having the decency to knock."Where the hell did that thought come from?" My face is quick to contort in anger because the question is just ridiculous."This," Bruce holds up a big, old book, "I happened to find it in a box when the first packhouse renovation was ongoing, it was buried underground." He adds.My gaze narrows at the book which seems like an ancient book. Bruce brings it closer to my face for me to get a proper look. And I don't fail to notice that there is no title written on it, so I'm starting to think he's trying to prank me or something."I'm not joking, Calhoun," Bruce breathes out, as if reading my thoughts, "Every word written in this book is true, people do have two mates at times and they're torn in between choosing one. Most times, your first mate isn't good enough for you anymore and so the moon goddess brings the s
