SERAPHINA POVI waited for the wolves on patrol to move to the next section of the border, before I ran over the border into my home’s pack lands. Luck had been on my side when I left this morning, with no one seeing me as I made my escape. It had been much more complicated to leave Callan’s side than anticipated. The mate bond pulled me to stay with him. However, I pushed through my need to be with my mate, as saying goodbye to my dying father was way more important. I couldn’t think about the bond or the repercussions of my actions. I made sure to keep my hood over my head as I made my way through the familiar woods of my childhood. After a long twenty minutes, I was finally in front of the packhouse. Alya made her displeasure known by letting out sighs and huffs everyone once in a while. ‘I need to say goodbye to my father. It’s not like I am here for something fun.’Alya huffed. “We shouldn’t have left our mate like that. The bond is not yet forged.’ ‘I didn’t choose for my f
SERAPHINA POVI woke up in a dark and damp room with my limbs feeling heavy. As my eyes came into focus, I realized that my wrists and ankles were bound to a metal bedframe. When I looked down at myself I was changed into one of my old nightgowns, instead of the clothes that I had come to the packhouse in. How Allister still had this was beyond me. It was in that moment that I realized where Allister had taken me. I was in the cells that were under the pack house. I knew from watching my father handle prisoners, that this was not a place you wanted to be if you didn’t have to. Although I couldn’t see into the next cell, I knew I was down here alone. I also knew that on the opposite side of my cell would be the “interrogation chair.” As I closed my eyes, I pictured the tools used to get information out of the prisoners put in the chair. A shiver went through me at the memory. The smell of piss, mildew, and other things that I didn’t care to bring a name to permeated my nostrils. As I
Callan POVIt had been two days, three hours, and seventeen minutes since I had last seen my mate. Each second away from her was more agonizing than the one previous. Archer began to get more restless by the second without having Sera with us. I checked my phone for any notification that would indicate that Sera was trying to get in touch with me. However to my dismay, my texts and calls had continued to go unanswered. Rage that simmered under the surface began to boil when I finally received a text from Seraphina. My Angel: Leave me alone AlphaMe: Where are you?My Angel: Somewhere safe and away from you. Me: Seraphina, this isn’t funny. Are you with your father? My Angel: That’s none of your concern. Our arrangement is done. Me: Sera, answer the damn question! My Angel: I already did. Now, kindly fuck off. Not that I had a lot of experience texting Seraphina, but something in these texts massages didn’t seem like her. I chucked my phone across my office and heard the itching
Allister POV After sending a text to my pack’s I looked down at Alpha Samuel’s sleeping form as he took in deep, short breaths. It was almost time for Samuel to meet the Moon Goddess. I took out the last vial of wolfsbane and placed the needle in the vial to get its remaining contents into the shot. I brought the injector up to the light and flicked the glass to ensure there were no airbubbles. “No hard feelings, Samuel. But, it’s time this pack has a true alpha.” I looked at his sleeping form. “And right now you just aren’t meeting the mark.”As I plunged the liquid into Samuel’s IV, I heard a gasp and the sound of something falling on the ground. I let out a curse and quickly turned to see Chrissy standing in the doorway with her hands covering her mouth. Before she could move, I moved with supernatural speed to where she was standing and yanked her into the room before anyone could see her. The last thing I needed was anymore collateral damage. I slammed the door behind us, maki
Seraphina POV I wasn’t sure how I was holding it together. It was as if my soul had disassociated from my being. Leaving me a shell of a person to deal with the unfathomable heartache at the hands of someone I once trusted and loved. After Allister had taken the phone from me, he took Chrissy’s lifeless body out of the cell and threw her remains into a heap near the stairway. Bile began to rise in my throat at the sickening sound her body made as she hit the concrete floor. He walked back into the cell and cut the remaining of my restraints off, making me yelp in pain. “Get the fuck up,” he barked out, making my flinch. My nervous system was fried after the day that I had. How was I ever in love with this man?Thirst and hunger unlike I’d ever experienced before was taking over. I had aches and pains all over my body and felt the overwhelming need to cry. I needed to hold it together in front of Allister. Needed to make sure that I didn’t give him a reason to hurt me more than he
Seraphina POVI wish I could say that my time in cells got better, however the joke was on me. I went without food and water until just two hours prior to the funeral service for my father. Why hadn’t Callan come to check on me. I fully expected that once he spoke to me on the phone that he would race here and demand that he see me.I had just finished my second piece of bread when Allister walked back down the cellar stairs and demanded that I stand up. Joke was on him. My injuries had only worsened without any sort of nourishment or medicine intervention. Standing would be impossible. When I didn’t move, Allister came over and pulled me by the hair. I screamed in agony as I felt like my hair was being pulled out of my scalp. “Get up Seraphina, its time to get yourself cleaned up,” Allister growled out. Before we got to the stairs, I found my footing and stumbled up the stairs as he continued to drag me.Not one staff member who saw us said anything to stop Allister. Staff who h
Seraphina POV Allister reminded me of a tea kettle that was just about to start steaming by the way his face turned a dark crimson and the way his knuckles were white from how tight his fists were.“The choice is yours, Allister. Either I expose you for the fraud you are and my men attack all of the pack members OR end the ceremony so Seraphina can get the care she needs.” I noted that Callan didn’t mention to Allister that I was his fated mate. Did this mean that he was going to reject me? Did I push him too far? I felt bile rise in my throat before I keeled over and vomited black liquid all over the manicured lawn next to me. Allister jumped back to avoid getting my vomit on him. I heard Callan curse before he moved my hair from my face as I continued to empty the contents of my stomach. As I stood, I felt my body swaybefore I was scooped up into strong arms that sent the familiar tingles through out my body. I rested my head on Callan’s hard chest and allowed myself to fall int
Seraphina POV Seraphina POVI wasn’t sure how long I was unconscious for, however what I was sure was that the side of my neck was throbbing and my body felt heavier than anything i’d ever felt. Slowly my eyes opened and came into focus. My brows knitted together in confusion. I was laying on a plush bed, but not one I recognized; in an all white sterile room. The curtains in the small white room were open, letting the sun drift into the room. When I looked down at my body I had a hospital gown on and tubes coming off of my arms. I must be in the pack hospital. As I touched the side of my neck that was hurting, a petite red head girl came into the room holding a clipboard with a bright smile. “Luna! You’re awake,” she beamed. Luna. That was not what I was expecting to hear. Everything came together like a wave crashing to shore. My neck, the girl calling me “Luna”…. The fucker had marked me!“Where’s Alpha Callan?” I asked, ignoring her pleasantries. The nurse gave me a sympatheti
