Chapter 5: Alister / Seraphina

Allister’s POV

I let out a growl of frustration as Seraphina slammed the door to our ensuite bathroom. I threw the blankets onto the bed and ran a hand through my tousled blonde hair. I couldn’t understand why she was so mad at me. Was fooling around with Lyla in Seraphina and my bed a good idea? no , not at all. I had made a neanderthal move with Lyla. I never anticipated that I would get caught.

It had just been so long since I was inside warm heat. By the non existent intimacy that Seraphina and I shared, she couldn’t expect me not to look elsewhere. I was only a red blooded male. I had needs. I let out a scoff as stripped the bed and id what Seraphina had asked. I knew I messed up, but a divorce seemed extreme. I hadn’t even fucked Lyla, I was interupted before that could have even happened.

‘Do you want her?’ My wolf Kyson asked.

‘Well of course I do. She’s the Alpha’s daughter and when we did have sex she was a good lay. She’s the key to my success.’

My wolf huffed. “But do you love her?’

I rolled my eyes. ‘I enjoy her. She is a nice girl and up until this point she has been easy to life with. She’s educated and responsible and caring and she gives me power in the pack. I may not love her, love her. But I do care for her and don’t want her to divorce me.’

Kyson cursed and then went to the depths of my mind.

After getting the bed made, I grabbed some belongings and pillow before walking to the door. The vanilla scent of Seraphina’s body wash wafted into my nostrils. I always found her scent calming. I wondered what it would be like not to have her scent wrapped around me everyday. I shook the thought away before leaving the room and headed to the guest room across the hall. Tomorrow I would convince her to stay with me. She wouldn’t leave me so easily.

Seraphina’s POV

When I got out of the shower I was happy to find the bed made with new bedding along with Allister no where in sight. Part of me wondered if he would go to Lyla’s tonight or if he would go to one of the guest rooms. I grieved for the relationship I thought I had.

I texted Chrissy that I needed her. In under three minutes I was wrapped in the arms of my best friend.

“Bear, what’s wrong?” Chrissy used the nickname that my mother used to call me. Short for baby bear. My mother would be called momma bear. After she left us to be with the Moon Goddess, the abbreviated nickname “Bear,” stuck.

“Chrissy,” my lips quivered as I sat on the lounge in my room, “Alister and I are done,” I sobbed as she stroked my hair.

“What? Why? I thought you guys were gonna fix things,” She asked calmly.

“He doesn’t love me and I don’t think he ever will. I was wrong about him.” I buried my head in my hands. “I caught him going down on Lyla tonight.”

“Wait, What? With Lyla! She just came to our pack!” She yelled as she stood up.

“He cheated on you! How dare he! I bet this is why he didn’t even try with you. It’s because he was busy being with her. That’s it! I’m gonna kick his stupid ass and her dumb ass because I know she knew about you. No one and I mean no one, cheats on my bestie!” Chrissy was fuming. You could actually feel the anger radiating off her.

“Wait Chrissy, calm down,” I begged and grabbed her forearm with a pleading look. Once she set her mind to something. Surely she was going through with it. That’s the type of person she was.

“Nope, he deserves it. They both do! He literally cheated on you.”

“I’m divorcing him tomorrow!” I blurted and she stopped in her tracks.

“Okay I can live with that.”

Staring at her I saw that she was still visibly upset.

“What’s wrong? I’m divorcing him. You should be happy.”

“I am.”

“But?”

“I still wanna kick his ass!”

The sun’s rays peaked through the window, immediately snapping me out of my sleep. Chrissy was hugging the pillow as light snores escaped her lips. I chuckled and got off the comfy lounge that I slept on. I brushed my teeth, took a shower and got dressed.

I wore a grey dress that reached above my knees, paired with short heels and finally, I tied my hair into a ponytail and did some light make-up. Since I was going to meet the pack’s lawyer, Julian, for the divorce, I wanted Alister to see what he was missing. Nothing could stop the grief I was feeling at the moment, my heart pained me every time I thought about him.

After I texted Alister the time to meet at Julian’s office, I went to have breakfast. I made a strawberry smoothie and pancakes. After I had breakfast I checked the time.

9:26 AM

I was meeting with Alister at 9:30 am so it was time to leave. I got lots of compliments from my pack members as I walked over to the office and it significantly boosted my confidence.

As I reached the room I saw Lyla standing sitting outside. As she saw me, she stood up and walked over to me.

“ I know Alister doesn’t know how to handle a situation properly but you two shouldn’t give up so easily,” She whispered. It looked like she had been crying.

“I think you should stay out of our business. You have already done enough! I don’t think you should have a say on this.”

“Seraphina, I know what it’s like to go through heartbreak and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone,”

She placed her hand on my shoulder, “So please just give him another chance.” I moved away from her unwanted touch.

“I am the only one heartbroken here. Why are you so invested in this relationship when you are just as equally to blame? You didn’t look like you cared about my relationship when his head was in between your thighs. So tell me, why are you even trying to stop this divorce? You should be happy because you are finally getting to be with Alister,”I spat and she looked like she was on the verge of tears.

“Seraphina I’m sorry. I’m the one to blame. Please don’t take it out on Lyla,” Alister interjected and I scoffed.

“Even now you’re defending her. Just how blind have I been? Let’s just get this over with.”

I walked into the room and Alister followed me. We both sat down as Julian greeted us.

“Good morning. We will begin shortly,” He said and I nodded.

He opened his draw and took out a file and opened it.

“So as you both know, marriage is a contract thus when a contract is broken it can be terminated. Alister, Seraphina told me the contract was breached on the grounds of infidelity. Is that accurate?” Julien asked as we both looked at Alister who seemed to be looking for the right answer.

“Yeah Alister, is it true?” I glared at him as he stared at me with puppy eyes.

“Yeah I did, but this is quite the extreme.,” He admitted and I felt like my heart had stopped. I couldn’t believe it. I knew he cheated on me but hearing him admit it was completely different. And for him to dismiss it like it meant nothing and that I was overacting made everything worse.

It was reality. It was heartbreaking. A few droplets of tears fell from my eyes.

“Before you answer this next question, remember that I am asking because there’s always a chance for reconciliation if you both are willing to try,” Julian explained.

“No, it’s over between us. I just want to get this over with,” My lips quivered.I heard Allister scoff behind me.

“Alister?” Julien questioned.

Allister’s facewas bright red as his eyes shifted to ones of his wolf, Kyson. He let out a growl of frustration. “NO IT’S NOT OVER!”

Losing his temper, Allister pushed all of the contents on the table next to him on to the floor. The sounds of the items crashing to the floor made me jump.

Alya pressed to the forefronts of my mind, ready to attack if needed. Julien sat in his chair while Allister threw his tantrum. After flipping over every surface in his reach, Allister turned to throw the table that Julien was sitting at. With more grace than should be possibly, Julien caught Allister’s hand mid air.

“That’s enough Beta Allister!” He roared. Allister pushed off of Julien before breathing heavily.

Allister looked at me one last time with hatred in his eyes before grabbing the pen, sniffing, signing the document. I felt my heart break as he dropped the pen onto the table. Just as I was about to sign the document, the emergency alarm sounded through out the pack lands. We were under attack!
