Seraphina POV I jumped off the bed and glared at Callan. I didn’t care that I was still hlf naked. “I’m sorry. I think I must have heard you wrong.” Just as he was about to speak I put a finger up, indicating I was not done speaking. “I tell you that I need to say goodbye to my DYING father, and you tell me I CAN’T go?!” I yelled. Callan got off the opposite side of the bed and ran his fingers through his messy locks. “You think I enjoy telling you that Sera?” He boomed back. “Gee, I don’t know,” I mocked like I was attempting to think. “Coming from the man who only does what HE wants.” I spread my arms out. “Because why care about what your fucking MATE WANTS! Only focus on what YOU want! Maybe I should just reject you—”I wasn’t able to finish my sentence and regretted my words right after they left me. Callan moved so fast that I couldn’t even track his movements until he pinned me up against the wall with my hands over my head. His chest heaved while his eyes turned to that o
Callan POVIt had been a stressful day. Starting my day with arguing with Sera was not my idea of a “good” morning. I spent the rest of my day being short-tempered with my staff and Beta. I could’t tell Sera that the two warriors that were found on our border were a message from her ex-husband. A warning not to fuck with him. Usually I would attack any pack that dare try to cross me. But because the pack in question was not only my mate’s home pack, but also where her loved ones lived, I had to think stratgeically and not emotionally. Drake walked into my office and threw a Snicker’s candy bar at me. The surgery treat would typically get me out of a bad mood, however today was the exception. I dropped the peanut-goodness on the top of my desk and ran my hands through my hair.Drake sat across from me and placed on ankle on the opposite knee. “What’s going on with you?” He asked while steepling his hands in front of him.I laced my hands behind my head and looked up at the ceiling. “
SERAPHINA POVI waited for the wolves on patrol to move to the next section of the border, before I ran over the border into my home’s pack lands. Luck had been on my side when I left this morning, with no one seeing me as I made my escape. It had been much more complicated to leave Callan’s side than anticipated. The mate bond pulled me to stay with him. However, I pushed through my need to be with my mate, as saying goodbye to my dying father was way more important. I couldn’t think about the bond or the repercussions of my actions. I made sure to keep my hood over my head as I made my way through the familiar woods of my childhood. After a long twenty minutes, I was finally in front of the packhouse. Alya made her displeasure known by letting out sighs and huffs everyone once in a while. ‘I need to say goodbye to my father. It’s not like I am here for something fun.’Alya huffed. “We shouldn’t have left our mate like that. The bond is not yet forged.’ ‘I didn’t choose for my f
SERAPHINA POVI woke up in a dark and damp room with my limbs feeling heavy. As my eyes came into focus, I realized that my wrists and ankles were bound to a metal bedframe. When I looked down at myself I was changed into one of my old nightgowns, instead of the clothes that I had come to the packhouse in. How Allister still had this was beyond me. It was in that moment that I realized where Allister had taken me. I was in the cells that were under the pack house. I knew from watching my father handle prisoners, that this was not a place you wanted to be if you didn’t have to. Although I couldn’t see into the next cell, I knew I was down here alone. I also knew that on the opposite side of my cell would be the “interrogation chair.” As I closed my eyes, I pictured the tools used to get information out of the prisoners put in the chair. A shiver went through me at the memory. The smell of piss, mildew, and other things that I didn’t care to bring a name to permeated my nostrils. As I
Callan POVIt had been two days, three hours, and seventeen minutes since I had last seen my mate. Each second away from her was more agonizing than the one previous. Archer began to get more restless by the second without having Sera with us. I checked my phone for any notification that would indicate that Sera was trying to get in touch with me. However to my dismay, my texts and calls had continued to go unanswered. Rage that simmered under the surface began to boil when I finally received a text from Seraphina. My Angel: Leave me alone AlphaMe: Where are you?My Angel: Somewhere safe and away from you. Me: Seraphina, this isn’t funny. Are you with your father? My Angel: That’s none of your concern. Our arrangement is done. Me: Sera, answer the damn question! My Angel: I already did. Now, kindly fuck off. Not that I had a lot of experience texting Seraphina, but something in these texts massages didn’t seem like her. I chucked my phone across my office and heard the itching
Allister POV After sending a text to my pack’s I looked down at Alpha Samuel’s sleeping form as he took in deep, short breaths. It was almost time for Samuel to meet the Moon Goddess. I took out the last vial of wolfsbane and placed the needle in the vial to get its remaining contents into the shot. I brought the injector up to the light and flicked the glass to ensure there were no airbubbles. “No hard feelings, Samuel. But, it’s time this pack has a true alpha.” I looked at his sleeping form. “And right now you just aren’t meeting the mark.”As I plunged the liquid into Samuel’s IV, I heard a gasp and the sound of something falling on the ground. I let out a curse and quickly turned to see Chrissy standing in the doorway with her hands covering her mouth. Before she could move, I moved with supernatural speed to where she was standing and yanked her into the room before anyone could see her. The last thing I needed was anymore collateral damage. I slammed the door behind us, maki
Seraphina POV I wasn’t sure how I was holding it together. It was as if my soul had disassociated from my being. Leaving me a shell of a person to deal with the unfathomable heartache at the hands of someone I once trusted and loved. After Allister had taken the phone from me, he took Chrissy’s lifeless body out of the cell and threw her remains into a heap near the stairway. Bile began to rise in my throat at the sickening sound her body made as she hit the concrete floor. He walked back into the cell and cut the remaining of my restraints off, making me yelp in pain. “Get the fuck up,” he barked out, making my flinch. My nervous system was fried after the day that I had. How was I ever in love with this man?Thirst and hunger unlike I’d ever experienced before was taking over. I had aches and pains all over my body and felt the overwhelming need to cry. I needed to hold it together in front of Allister. Needed to make sure that I didn’t give him a reason to hurt me more than he
Seraphina POVI wish I could say that my time in cells got better, however the joke was on me. I went without food and water until just two hours prior to the funeral service for my father. Why hadn’t Callan come to check on me. I fully expected that once he spoke to me on the phone that he would race here and demand that he see me.I had just finished my second piece of bread when Allister walked back down the cellar stairs and demanded that I stand up. Joke was on him. My injuries had only worsened without any sort of nourishment or medicine intervention. Standing would be impossible. When I didn’t move, Allister came over and pulled me by the hair. I screamed in agony as I felt like my hair was being pulled out of my scalp. “Get up Seraphina, its time to get yourself cleaned up,” Allister growled out. Before we got to the stairs, I found my footing and stumbled up the stairs as he continued to drag me.Not one staff member who saw us said anything to stop Allister. Staff who h
