Seraphina 's POV
After the meeting, I went over to Alister to ask about Lyla.
"What pack did she come from? Is she a rogue?" "She doesn't have a pack." "Oh? How did you find her then? Surely, my father would have told me something. I'm guessing you found her." Alister raked his hands through his hair in frustration, "I do not know. This conversation is not important. Just drop it, okay?" I’d never heard him so irritated and defensive before. "Okay. I guess it's not then," I frowned. Before I could continue my father walked over to us with a grim look on his face. He scrubbed a hand down his face. “I don't like where things are going. We have been allies with the Silverback Pack for centuries, but suddenly, things are changing rapidly," he expressed to Alister without regard to me. "I already arranged to speak with their Alpha, and he accepted. I think we can sort this out quickly. We don't need any more enemies," Alister responded with finality in his voice, and my father nodded. "I want to come as well," I interjected. "I don't think that's a good idea. If something happens, I won't be able to protect you and myself.” Alister immediately dismissed me. I raised an eyebrow at him, "Are you forgetting that I'm pretty badass at fighting? I'm not just some weak girl, you know. I've trained all my life." I placed my hands on my hips. I didn’t care if I sounded like a petulant child. "Maybe so, but you're still Alpha’s daughter. You're an important asset. I still think it's dangerous." "Seraphina is excellent at combat. It's one of the best, if I'm being honest. I think it should be fine to bring her. She can hold her own." my dad stated, inevitably ending the debate. "As you wish. Seraphina, we're supposed to meet them in two days' time. Be prepared by then. If you'll excuse me, there are things I have to tend to. I'll be in my study," Alister nodded at me and my father and left. What was the point of being married if we never saw each other. We had been together for two years and only had been intimate once to consummate the marriage. After that it was like he wanted nothing to do with me. I often envied pack members with their mates because they seemed so happy. As I walked to the large cafeteria that the pack ate every meal at, I heard some of the pack members talking about how gorgeous Lyla was. They were enthralled by her beauty and the way she carried herself. "Well, looks like there's some new excitement in the pack," Chrissy, my best friend, noted as she bumped her hip with mine as we walked. Her auburn hair fell perfectly as she showed off the new multilayered hairstyle. It was edgy and full of character. Nothing compared to my straight raven colored hair.I rolled my eyes. "Of course, there's excitement. Did you see her? She's perfect." I walked into the cafeteria and noticed that the thorn in my side had already beaten me to dinner. Lyla sipped on a glass of water as the males in the pack surrounded her, most likely hoping she's their mate or wanting to take her to bed. Annoyance reared its ugly head as the beautiful woman continued to build a crowd. Even women were going over to her to see if they would have a chance with her.I frowned. She quickly touched my shoulder as she saw the look on my face. "What's wrong?" I released a shaky sigh, “I wished Alister looked at me the way these pack members are looking at her. It’s been years, and nothing has changed. This isn’t how it’s supposed to be when you find your mate. It’s supposed to be different.” I took a breath and looked up at the ceiling. “Alister and I are far from perfect, but it’s like I’m invisible to him.” I got in small, formed line for tonight’s pig roast dinner. “That’s something you should talk to him about since it’s such a deep concern of yours. You can’t go on like this. Trust me.” Chrissy said with a far-off expression. She had been going through her own mate issues lately but refused to talk about it. “We’ve both been so busy, I guess I didn’t realize what was going on.’’ “Well I think you guys should work on your marriage. That’s so important, babe. I’ll be here for you along the way.” “Thanks Chrissy.” -- After eating my feelings at dinner and talking more with Chrissy, I finally made it to my room. It was dimly lit and to my surprise Alister was actually in bed on his side instead of in his study. His eyes were glued to the phone as his fingers tapped away. A small smile played on his lips every time a notification popped up on the screen. Sensing my presence, he stood abruptly. I walked over to him and placed a hand on his chest as I took a deep breath. "If you're not busy –" I placed my other palm on his bare chiseled chest. I needed affection. I needed to feel like I was his wife and not a roommate. “I need to get back to planning. I have a lot to do," he cut me off. “Can you plan in here? I will read my book on my kindle." I pleaded. I was desperate. Desperate for anything. Desperate for him. His eyes stared intently at me, and he slowly nodded. "Fine." Alister took out his computer and sat on the bed as I took out my iPad where I opened my most recent novel. We were doing completely separate tasks, but it felt comforting in a weird way. I didn't know when I fell asleep, but I felt Alister's arm around me. I closed my eyes and fell into his touch. This was what I wanted, but why did it feel so temporary and forced?Seraphina's POVThe next morning Alister had already left. It wasn't rare that I woke up to an empty bed. But every single time I expected it to be different. I showered and got ready for the day ahead of me. After meeting with my father, discussing the potential threats with the neighboring pack. I decided to take a walk in the gardens. Strangely enough, Lyla was there sitting under a tree drinking what looked like a lemonade as she had several males sitting next to her and laughing at whatever she had said. I'm not sure why but I envied her. Maybe it was because my husband looked at her with lust in his eyes. I turned around and walked away. Calm down Seraphina, maybe I saw wrong. Maybe she's just beautiful and my husband just looked at her. Either way, I wanted to escape her. I went upstairs to the study. Alister had fallen asleep on the table, soft snores came from him as he slept soundly. I cracked a small smile as I watched him. It's rare seeing him like this. He usually sle
Seraphina's POVOn my bed, Alister’s head lay nestled between Lyla’s naked thighs as Lyla clung to the top of the headboard to hold herself in one place. Her breasts bounced from the ferocity that Alister was licking her pussy. They were on our bed. Alister was with another woman on our FUCKING BED! "A-Alister!" I yelled as I bit back the tears that began forming. Alister jolted off Lyla in Supernatural speed towards me as Lyla shrieked and attempted to cover her naked breasts with a pillow. As Alister whipped around, his face was as pale as he had seen a ghost. He placed his hands out as if he were attempting to tame a wild animal. A low growl escaped me as he invaded my personal space. His erection was clear in the tight black slacks he was wearing. "Seraphina, you’re home early," Alister’s face was filled with conflicting emotions. "You tell me! Is this what your business is? Is this why you had to leave? Is this the errand you had to run?" I yelled as tears streamed down my f
Allister’s POVI let out a growl of frustration as Seraphina slammed the door to our ensuite bathroom. I threw the blankets onto the bed and ran a hand through my tousled blonde hair. I couldn’t understand why she was so mad at me. Was fooling around with Lyla in Seraphina and my bed a good idea? no , not at all. I had made a neanderthal move with Lyla. I never anticipated that I would get caught. It had just been so long since I was inside warm heat. By the non existent intimacy that Seraphina and I shared, she couldn’t expect me not to look elsewhere. I was only a red blooded male. I had needs. I let out a scoff as stripped the bed and id what Seraphina had asked. I knew I messed up, but a divorce seemed extreme. I hadn’t even fucked Lyla, I was interupted before that could have even happened. ‘Do you want her?’ My wolf Kyson asked. ‘Well of course I do. She’s the Alpha’s daughter and when we did have sex she was a good lay. She’s the key to my success.’My wolf huffed. “But do y
Seraphina POVAlarms blared throughout the office and the surrounding buildings. I shifted into my black as the night-colored wolf and let Alya take control. ‘Where are you?!” My father’s booming voice came into my head. ‘Leaving Julien’s office now, need to get women and children into the chambers.’ The chambers were a cluster of underground tunnels that led to panic rooms in the event of an attack. Something terrible had to have happened if we hadn’t gotten a warning before we were already under attack. ‘Make sure you stay with them!’ My father ordered. ‘You know I won’t do that Dad.’I blocked out his response as a mangy wolf started to run toward a mother and her two young children. I jumped and shifted into my black wolf form. The tearing of fabric echoed in my ears as all my limbs shifted into fur-covered legs. I wrapped my mouth around the opposing wolf's neck to reach it before it could reach its target. The crack of bone was the telltale sign that I had successfully elimi
Seraphina's POVA tall broad-shouldered man with shoulder-length brown hair and piercing blue eyes. I would recognize those cerulean blue eyes anywhere. Alpha Callan Forte of the Night Walker Pack stood over a pile of dead rogues, and next to him was Alpha Constantine of the Nordic Pack. Alpha Constantine’s signature short curly hair and fair skin covered in freckles would make him recognizable anywhere. Both men were ungodly ripped with muscles and chiseled abdominal muscles. The rogues that had been about to attack me retreated into the wooded canopy behide the Alphas.“Well, look what we have here,” Constantine teased. Are you lost, little wolf?” He continued. I hated being called that. I knew my wolf was a little smaller than theirs, but due to my alpha genes, I was still larger than the other wolves in the pack. They seemed buddy-buddy for two people who should be enemies. Alpha Callan was known for her dictatorial and authoritarian leadership style. Over the years he had taken
Allister's POVI heard angered voices outside the hospital room where Alpha Samuel lay on the sterile white sheets of a hospital bed. He looked at me with a concerned expression. Samuel had seen much better days in his sixty-three years. His usual warm, tan complexion was ashen and gray. The doctors were still waiting on some tests to come back to hopefully have more of an understanding as to why he wasn’t healing. “You can’t go back there!” I heard one of the warriors say. “I have something that your Alpha will want.” The sound of a familiar voice said in return. The statement piqued my interest. The sounds of small grunts echoed in the hospital hallway. When I walked out of the room, I saw Seraphina with a thin hospital gown on and held in each arm by two burly men. I gulped when I saw the angered expression on Alpha Constantine’s face. He was not someone you wanted to piss off and for some reason he was. Seraphina let out a cry when one of the men restraining her jerked her arm
Callan's POVBEFORE THE ATTACK ON THE SHADOW PACKWhen I met with Alpha Constantine, one of my allies, I was not expecting to see a weasel speaking to him. I didn’t need to know what the man was saying to be able to tell he was scum. “I have someone inside the operation. Someone no one would expect.” The weasel said. I cleared my throat to announce my arrival. Alpha Constantine reminded me of a werewolf lumberjack with his broad frame, red beard, and short strawberry-blonde hair. A big smile crossed his face when he saw me enter the room before engulfing me in a brotherly hug. “Callan! You are early,” Constantine remarked as he slapped my back. He moved me to arm's length. “But just in time,” I looked at him with a curious expression. I had a feeling whatever he was going to say would have to do with the weasel in the room. “Please, gentlemen, let us have a seat. Allister, this is Alpha Callan. Callan, this is Allister, the Beta of the Shadow Pack.” I begrudgingly shook the man’s cl
Seraphina's POV-Present The slap echoed in the room. Allister looked at me with rage prominent in his eyes. “How dare you slap me, you dumb bitch!” Allister’s face began to morph into one of his wolf. His eyes began to glow a deep red while his canines elongated. My anger immediately turns to fear as I see Allister’s claw-sharpened hand rear back. Awaiting the blow, I squeezed my eyes closed. A grunt and the sound of a scuffle sounded in the quiet room. When the blow didn’t hit, I opened my eyes to find Alpha Callan pinning Allister to the floor while Lyla cowered in the corner of the room. Callan shoved Allister away. “You do NOT lay one fucking finger on her!” He bellowed, making goosebumps appear on my skin. Why was he still here? Yes, the Alphas were meeting tomorrow after my father had some rest, but why was he HERE in the packhouse?I backed away from the men until my backside met the hutch that stood on the far wall. Callan looked at me, his eyes still wild and of his wolf.
