I had one hand on my baby bump and the other on one of the last things I wanted to touch, Allister’s forearm. Allister pressed a kiss to my temple making my stomach turn. “Don’t worry love, I won’t let you fall.”

I wanted to vomit at his pet name for me. We were currently descending the stairs into what seemed to be a bunker. It smelt of dampness and decay. Or like an old basement. I tried my best to hold my breath so I wouldn’t gag, but found myself losing the battle.

After going through several doors that were guarded, we entered a main area that was heavily lit with LED lights. I blinked rapidly from the stark contrast in light.

“Welcome home, my love. Soon it will turn into a castle, but for now this will do.” Allister beamed, as if this were a completely reasonable place to bring a kidnapped, pregnant, bed-ridden, woman. He walked down the main hall, where we walked past a kitchenette. Eventually we made it to a large room that was I soon realized wa
