Ophelia lied but only because she did not see the need to let him know her real identity. She went to chill around there but it was not the same campus and every time she wanted to party hard she left her campus and travelled all the way to party.
“Toria,” he said as though he was testing the name on his tongue. “Toria” he said again and this time his tone was telling her that he liked it. “That is a pretty name for a pretty girl like you” he said in a way of complimenting her.
“Oh really?” she asked pushing herself forward and slowly taking her hand off his grip. She was used to men swimming around her because of her looks. She smiled briefly and it was suddenly replaced with a frown.
“I have to say that is such a nineties thing to say” she added which made him shift uncomfortably in his seat. “Just joking” she finished raising her hand in the air.
He took a deep breath and forced his teeth to show through a small smile, she was giving this off-putting air to him. “Should we have something to drink?” she asked taking the bottle from the table and shaking it in the air.
“Let me” Cade said taking the bottle from her hand and then proceeding to top two glasses for them.
“Ahh I see chivalry” she commented taking the glass from his hand while playfully brushing against the back of his hand. Her fingers left a hot trail over his skin. She took the cup and moved back before taking a sip.
“Some good stuff here,” she said before downing the entire glass down her throat and gesturing for him to pour her another glass.
“You see I don't usually drink this much but I guess I get a cute guy to look after me if I get a little drunk,” she said as she took the cup to her mouth again. The content of the cup was gone faster than he was able to top up her glass.
“So do you come here?” he asked referring to the school he had just managed to graduate with honours from.
“Here? Why do you ask?” she asked dropping the cup to the table in front of her.
“This is a small campus and I would be very angry with myself if I did not notice a beautiful woman like you” he said and she let out a mocking laughter.
“You really do have an ego” she let out. It was as though she was trying to make him uncomfortable with her comments from time to time. “Do girls help inflate that ego?” she asked and he nodded.
“I am in fact the most desirable young man on this campus and I am very popular with all the students” he added with a hint of bragging and she smiled.
“What a mystery, I don't know you,” she said and he shifted uncomfortably again. “I wonder what that is” she added stroking her chin and pretending to think.
“Maybe you are new?” he asked and then clapped his hands together as though he had managed to crack the mystery. “Are you one of the high schoolers touring the school?” he asked and she chuckled.
“Do I look eighteen?”
“Maybe you took a year off?” he asked and she shook her head.
“I am not a high schooler or a new student and I do not know you” she lied. Even though she was not from that campus she very well knew who he was, he was just as popular as he thought he was, and his ego deserved to be that big. She did love putting off men who could only survive on the attention they had around them.
By default, Cade changed the topic because it was now no longer favouring him and moments later she was tipsy and now inching closer to him by the second. “Want to dance?” she asked shaking her hand in the air.
“You are already getting drunk, how do you intend to get home?” Cade asked worried at how much she had drank.
“Come” she whispered beckoning to him with one of her fingers. He shifted his head his ears were right beside her mouth. She hiccupped loudly into them before going off with a giggle. “Oops sorry” she said closing her mouth with her hand.
“This is a secret” she said lowering her voice. Cade couldn't believe that the same woman with a sharp mouth from moments ago was now acting so cute.
“What is the secret?” he asked turning to her, he was so close to her that he could feel the breath on his face.
“If you do not stop pestering how can I tell you?’ she asked and he raised his hands as if to give up in surrender.
“My bad” he said and she nodded and pulled him closer.
“There are rooms upstairs,” she said in a giggle.
He wondered why she said it was like a secret, he already knew that he was sure that everyone on that floor knew that there were rooms intimating hotel rooms up. They were usually the centres for those who wanted to have a good time while clubbing.
“You can take me there” This time her voice was louder than before. “Do you want to go there?” she continued maintaining a loud voice.
“What?” Cade asked shifting a bit back. In the past, he had never had a problem making out and ending up in a room with a woman he had barely met but for some reason, it was so different this time, he did not want to do that to her especially now that she was drunk.
“Where do you live, i would call you a taxi or a driver” he suggested holding her back.
“I do not want to go home, do you want to make out?” she asked outright, he shook his head took out his phone out of his pocket and tapped away on it. His phone was out of his hand in a swift motion and he looked back at her, she switched off the phone and threw it on the couch beside them and in a swift moment, her mouth was on his kissing him.
He did not know it but he was kissing back and by the time he had come to his senses, she was in his arms stark naked and her ginger hair filled the entire bed.
“What just happened?”
TWO YEARS LATER“Welcome young master, the chairman is in the study downstairs” Lisa said as Cade walked into the house. “Thank you… erm..” Cade lingered as he waited for the young girl to remind him of her name. “It is Lisa,” she said. She was used to it already, the entire family was basically the same, amongst them all only Cade even tried his best to remember the names of the staff. The rest only referred to them in condescending manners. Most times they were not even offended, they probably had better things to think about than to be thinking about the name of a house staff. Cade nodded and said. “Thank you, Lisa, please have someone prepare my room”“Would you be staying here?” Lisa replied with visible fear in her eyes. “Yes, is there anything wrong?” Cade asked confused why a house staff would show so much fear that he was finally coming home after three months. He had been living in the penthouse at the headquarters building all this while and had just come back from a bu
“I do hope you are happy, you finally found a way to drag me down to this hell” Ophelia said as she sat into the chair at the dining table.“Remember the deal we made before you left to study abroad?” Carter asked ignoring his daughter. “That was not a deal, you wanted to get rid of me because I was embarrassing you,” she said air quoting the last two words and tilting her head to the side “So you made me withdraw from school here and go there to start over just because of your reputation” her voice carried spite and she was not hiding it. “I told you that you would have to do anything I asked as long as I did not pry into your life during your stay in school and I think I did a good job at keeping the end of my bargain, now it's your turn to do the needful” Carter said taking his cup and siping the water in it. “You are forcing this on me, this is against human rights,” Ophelia said, she had agreed when her father had forced her but now that she had to do it she was feeling a litt
“What?”“What?”“Is the almighty Daddy’s puppet not going to tell me to listen to Daddy this time around?” Ophelia asked and he shifted to the edge of his seat. “What do you mean?” he asked before adding. “What do you daddy’s puppet?”“Haven't you always advised me to do things my dad wants me to?” she asked and he looked at her with a puzzled expression on his face. “I have always known”“And yet you still did them?”“Yeah because you asked and you are my friend so I did not think you would ever want me to be hurt soooo…” she trailed off. “You knew and you still them? That is shocking considering that you are so independent”“Hey, I never wanted to be independent, I was forced to become one” she said brushing her hair away from her face. “You don't think I should get married though why?”“I believe you should get married to the one you love, I think marriage is a big deal, I can't imagine living in the same house as someone who you don't like” “Then I guess the fortune of the Fros
Ophelia looked at this man, she remembered him all too well, she even remembered him from just seeing his name, he was the man she had spent the night passionately with when she was in her third year at college. She could never forget him no matter how hard she tried, she had always hated that he found a way to pop into her memories once in a while. She blinked her eyes at him multiple times, how did he remember her so well even up to her name? When she woke up that morning she had run away from the room before he could wake up and tried her best to forget about him.She never thought she would have a reason to ever encounter him ever again, considering the fact that she would be leaving the city behind anyway. For her own sanity, she never went back to that club in case she ran into him. How shameful it was for her that a girl who ran her mouth so much was a virgin. She did not think that her father's first choice for her would be this man sitting across from her, she did not know
“Your terms are?” Cade asked as they dug into the meal in front of them. “You want me to tell you now?”“Is anything wrong with now?” he asked looking around, maybe she thought the place was not good enough to discuss those kinds of matters. “Well, it seems rushed, what is the reason you are rushing?” “I have to get married before I turn twenty-five in August to take over the company or else my cousin or brother might be the one to inherit it”“And you are so interested in the company why?”“Do you know how much effort I have put into the company? I slept in the penthouse at work for three months, how can I let someone else take over? I studied business administration instead of engineering as I originally wanted because my grandfather wanted me to. Should I throw it all away after coming this far?”“Of course not, I can understand, I am sitting here now because my father already has everything planned out for my life” she sighed before taking a bite.”Maybe rich people do not have
Of course, the papers read, IS THE TROUBLESOME MS FROST BACK IN THE CITY FOR MORE TROUBLE. One of the reporters had caught wind that she was around and now her name was swimming in the news. She smiled at her phone as she thought to herself. ‘I still got it’ Maybe her father was the one who put the reporter on her tail but the fact that all the other reporters were eager to write on her showed just how influential her family was. Many of the reports were speculating that Cade and her were together and she knew from experience that now was the best time for her to jump on the news and make it work to their benefit. “Hello” “You finally picked,” Ophelia said.“Oh sorry about that i do not like to take personal calls during work hours” Cade replied. She had been calling so much he had no choice but to pick up and know what she wanted. When they had exchanged contacts he did not know she would reach out so easily.“And I am not really interested in calling you at all but you see this s
“You are wearing that to the movies?” Cade asked and she looked down at her dress and back at him. She could not deny that she was being a bit extra just to see the movies but she was always extra so there was nothing wrong with it.“What is wrong with what I am wearing?” she asked crossing her arms across her chest and leaning on one leg. “Too glamorous, are we attending a party or an event? Are you trying to outshine the bride?” he asked leaning on the sports car behind him. He had taken time off work earlier than usual, the staff watched in awe as he walked away early from work. They were both sacred and joyful, afraid that it was a test and joyful that for the first time in six months since he took over the office they got to go home early. He had gone home and changed out of his usual day-to-day suit and thrown on a t-shirt and chinos. Ophelia could not deny that he looked good in those casual clothes. “So if I dressed like this I would outshine the bride? These brides should
Ophelia was graceful in her dress and Cade could not deny it so he was almost jumping on his toes, pointing his hands in her face and laughing his ass off when she said her legs hurt. “I told you to wear something comfortable,” he said as he could not help himself. “I did not know that I would need to go around a bookstore trying to educate a grown man on how to treat a woman, the way a woman wants to be treated” she sighed. “Wait here then” he said pointing to the bench behind them. “Here?”“Yes”“Why?”“You ask a lot of questions and I will be back soon” he said turning on his heels and walking away. She watched him go and her eyes darted to a group of schoolgirls giggling in the corner. Their eyes turned to face her and they had the most offended look on their face. She knew they were schoolgirls because they were still in uniform. “If you have a beef to pick with me don’t be a coward and go for it” Ophelia said making the girls turn to her. If those girls made a scene here sh

FINAL CHAPTER"Oh, I see," the doctor said, narrowing his eyes at the screen facing him. Cade had made a fuss even though Ophelia had told him that it was not necessary and made sure that she did all the tests possible."What is it, doctor?" Cade said one hand clutching Ophelia's hand tightly and the other in a ball on his legs. "Is she sick? How sick is she? Is it something serious?" he continued when the doctor did not say anything."From the test results we have gotten so far, she is three weeks pregnant," the man said. Cade blinked; he could not understand how he was supposed to react to the news. They had been trying for months now, but every time she did the test and found nothing, she got sad, so he told her that they should just live the way they would have lived if they had no child."Sorry doctor, what do you mean?" she asked, blinking rapidly at the man."I mean that you are three weeks pregnant, and the reason you felt that way was that you have blood pressure issues that
Ophelia was in her dad's living room, she came because he called and said he had something important to tell her and she had never heard her dad sound like that before but anyway, a lot of things had changed since her mom came. She and her mom had been in contact and every time her dad tried to contact her she cut off all possible links."You always talk about tardiness, and yet you are the one who kept me waiting today; you do realize that I am late to work, don't you?" Ophelia asked, standing up as her father came into the room."You must be grown now seeing that you are talking to me like that," Carter said as he sat down on one of the sofas."I have always been bold; you are the one who tried to silence me as much as you could..""I tried to silence you? I gave you a voice yet you are still going to paint me as the bad guy?" he asked shocked at her accusations. He might have ruined his marriage and home but he always tried his best to do the right thing for her. She may have lost
"So this does not happen much, does it?" Cael asked as they sat in the coffee shop. Desire had been serious about them getting coffee together and had seen it to the end, which, in all honesty, was weird to him."It sure does not," Desire said, taking a sip from her iced coffee. "And to think my mom was bugging me about dating and then I met you.""You are quite forward," Cael murmured, also taking the cup from hand to mouth. Cael could not tell her that his mom too was just bugging him about getting into a relationship. "I guess all moms are cut from the same clothes."They sure are," she said silently. She had thought this would go a bit differently than this bit; she was not complaining about this at all. It was warmer than all of the madness she had been through in the past few months. She had to deal with the divorce, and right after her mom was in jail for fraud."You are..." he trailed off."Another compliment, or is it an observation?" she murmured as she leaned into her chair
Cael walked through the cold walls of the prison; it had been three weeks since his mother was tried and found guilty by the court. He hated coming here, but since Charles had been able to get him exclusive rights, he could see his mother every weekend. Anytime he saw her, she always had the brightest smile on, as if she were right where she was supposed to be, and she always said he should not worry at all and that everything was okay with him."Don't you think you are here a lot?" Abigail asked as she sat down in the room. Charles's influence has gone as far as getting them both open rooms so they did not have to be stuck behind the glass booth."I only get to see you once a week after growing up with seeing you every day of my life; how am I supposed to live?" Cael asked."Stop acting like a child; you are good on your own," she said, smiling at him."You seem to be smiling more in here.""That is because I am free in here; I do not have to worry about making you the first or fight
Green showed up to court; he had been so shocked that Harper just suddenly disappeared on him one day. She left the country and was unreachable. He knew that even though she was around there, she would not have taken up any responsibility. Carter had told him that he was ready to go all out with the court case but thought of the time they had together and just let it be."I know you expect me to apologize for my actions, but I am not sorry for them," Green said to Ophelia after the session. They stood by the doors of the courtroom."You caused all of this damage, and yet you aren't sorry?" She asked shocked. She would not have believed it if she had not experienced it firsthand; if she had been told, she would have sworn on her life that Green was nothing like that."Damage? You knew I liked you; your father knew it also, but I was just an errand boy to you both. I did what I could do to make you notice me, and maybe it worked."Cade took a step forward, but Ophelia held her hand over
"Are you not going to do anything?" Harper asked Green. He had been housing her, and since Cade and Charles had taken back the media space, Green's little influence on one blog was not able to do any harm to them. He even wondered why they were being so quiet with their case. He was expecting some sort of court document that would be asking him to come for a hearing or something."What do you want me to do?" Green asked, taking a sip from her coffee."Anything, I thought you said that you could do a lot to make sure they do not end up together.""And you also said the same thing too," he replied. He was getting tired of her incessant nagging; she woke up each day and began to talk about how difficult her life had been, how much she had to leave behind to come to Cade, and how she was going to lose her mind. Green had always thought that he would lose his mind listening to her.His phone on the table vibrated; he looked at the screen and picked it up. At least going to work was one thi
Cael rushed into the police station confused about when to go; some of the men recognized him instantly, and one of the men went to him."How can I help you, sir?""My mom," he said. Since he saw the evidence two days ago, he had always played out a scenario in his mind where she was in jail and he went there, but none of his imagination had encompassed what he felt in the moment. He felt as if someone was taking hold of her heart and playing with it in whatever way they would like."Your mom?" the officer who stood in front of him asked in confusion."Yes," he said, shaking his head slowly with his eyes shut. "She came in this morning to turn herself in," he added. The officer gasped as he began to put things together, and they finally began to make sense. They wondered why a woman would step forward to turn herself in after fifteen years. If it were to be any other crime, the statutes of limitation might have been over, and she might have been let off with a fine or nothing at all,
"What is it?" Charles asked, looking at Cael, who had his phone to his ears even though they had all heard the line beep dead. His expression made it worse because no one could read it to tell what he felt. "Mom," his voice came out in a gasp."Abigail?" Charles said, looking around."Your mom? What's wrong with her?" Marie asked. She left for the airport in an hour, but Charles had insisted she stay for breakfast. She had hoped to see her daughter once again before she flew out, even if it was from a distance, but she was not sure if she would make it there."Mom," Cael said again. Charles had not worried about Abigail because it was not unusual for her to not show up at the table. She usually skipped breakfast, or some mornings, she had them at another time."Use your words, son," Charles said. Cael's changing expression was sending a signal to them at the table but none of them were able to pick it up."Did something happen? Why don't you say something? Say anything?" Valerie chip
