Cade was in a meeting when his phone began to go off its hook. He had kept his phone on him and not on silent for the first time in a while. Ever since he got promoted it had been his attitude to always have his phone on silent so that the room was quiet enough to have a good enough decent meeting. So the fear on the worker's faces when the phone began ringing and they were trying to figure out whose phone kept going off the hook was evident. They had all learnt that to work with him they had to have their phones on silent, especially during a meeting. He stopped the meeting and took out the phone. He did not know whose call he was expecting that he did not keep his phone on silent mode but seeing that the call was from Ophelia startled him a bit. A mixture of fear, excitement and joy overwhelmed him. He stared at the screen until the call stopped and popped up as a missed call. The entire room was silent as they did not how to react to a situation they had never had to deal with befo
Cade got off the call with Ophelia and knew he had limited time to wrap off what he was doing and get back home to pick her up for shopping. If they were to ask him why he was doing it he could not have a straight answer. He went back to the meeting room and sat down allowing the person who was giving a presentation to get done with it first before interrupting the meeting. "I have to leave now" he said causing them all to gasp."Why?" the youngest on the team asked causing everyone to gasp even louder and throw him a dangerous look. "Well, I have to meet with my wife" he said causing a swoon-worthy reaction from everyone around. He was startled by the reaction and managed to get it out of there without feeling awkward about the situation. He signed documents and cleared his schedule for the rest of the day. He was a workaholic so Sue thought of the possibility that he had been swamped out by an alien when he asked her to clear out his schedule for the entire day. Even if he had a
"Where do you want to go?" Cade asked as they backed out of the driveway."Anywhere you suggest" Ophelia replied."Okay then"Cade began to drive towards his stepmother's favourite store. He had been forced to know this because he had to act like a good son to her even though she was never a good mother to him either."Ohh" Ophelia exclaimed as they came to the front of the store. She had been curious as to where he was taking her. When she asked him to suggest a place she had expected him to tell her but he drove quickly till they got to the front of the store. "You have good clothes taste" she added happily."Cael's mom visits this place frequently so I know" he replied as he parked taking off his seat belt."I hope this will be the only store we visit today""Wait what do you mean?"Cade asked confused but she flashed a smile at him and gestured to her door. "Aren't you going to get it?" she asked pointing to the door when he did not move out of his seat."Thank you" she murmured wh
"Fake?" Cade asked wondering why she would call her fake after only having a few minutes."Are you telling me you could not see it?" she asked wondering why he was shocked by her statement."She only invited you to a party, which you agreed to go so how could she be fake?" he asked. She shook her head and sat on the couch beside him. "Men always baffle me" she said rolling her eyes. "How could it be so difficult for you to spot how fake she was being?" she added and shifted so she could rest her back on the couch."How can she be busy with party preparation when we never plan our parties by ourselves?" she asked trying to list out everything she found to be fake about her. "And if she was truly busy why does she have time to be shopping for a dress? and why here?" she asked.Cade stared at her, he did not have all the answers she was looking for and quite frankly he did not care about the answers, he wanted to divert the topic back to why they were there but seeing that she was immers
Cade and Ophelia had their meal and they were on their way. Cade was still insisting on taking Ophelia home but she was adamant about it."If you try to take me home you will be stuck in traffic and you might even get there late. Knowing the kind of person that my dad is, he would not think you are serious if you get there later than him. You can get there and wait for him" Ophelia said. She wanted to have her alone time but she was more concerned about him getting there before her dad that was the only way he would be moved to think of helping her."Okay then, I will have to wait till the driver gets here before I leave," he said standing beside her. The car came into view a few moments later and she was on her way home. She prayed to every deity she knew that her dad was in a good mood and that they would be able to resolve the issue promptly. She prayed for him as well that he would know how to handle her dad. She only took twenty per cent of her father's attitude at least in her o
Cade got into his car and began to drive home, he was suddenly reminded of the interaction he had with Ophelia earlier. She had been the one to suggest that they go shopping but she did not pick up any of the clothes even though she looked breathtaking in them all. He was convinced that sometimes tabloids and rumours might be true. They had often said that Ophelia had the body of a goddess and could make any dress look fantastic by just wearing it. Dresses sold more just because she wore them and even some brands wished she was an influencer, They would pay just to have her model their dresses. He called the manager of the store, luckily he still had her contact. He was going to pick up the dresses and surprise her with them. He wondered why he wanted to do such a thing. As he thought of it he could not see reason as to why he was doing it but he could not talk himself out of it either way. It was as if he had to do it. What could go wrong with him buying some clothes for her? She wou
As they walked to the car, Ophelia thought of the reason Cade was taking her there. It was late at night why did he need to bring her out? All her questions flew out her head as soon as he opened up the boot of his car and sitting in them were bags from the store they had visited in the afternoon."What are these?" she barely managed to get out because of the shock she felt. She was not expecting that from him honestly if he had pulled up with a puppy she would have not been as surprised as she felt now."These" she said rushing to the bag and taking out the contents from one of them. "These," she said turning to him again with her mouth ajar in confusion. "They are the clothes from the store" he nodded his head like a proud dad who was pulling a moment with his children."They are" he said and she jumped on the spot with joy."These are the clothes from today" she said again and he nodded. "But how?" she asked going to rummage through the bags as she began to discover the shoes and b
"Hello" the voice on the phone was peepy like a little child who was excited about something. Ophelia drew the phone from her ears as she groaned annoyed. She was still sleeping. Who calls this early? The voice was unfamiliar to her but she knew that no one would have her private line except she gave it to them. She did not know any woman who was that happy so early in the morning. She struggled to get into a sitting position knowing that her morning voice sounded horrible. "Hello," she let out. Hearing herself made her realize how much of a growing teenage boy she sounded like in the morning."Oops Cade?" the voice came out and she knew that the person could tell that she was the one but was trying to get on her nerves while maintaining the appearance of being a nice person. The only person she had met in recent times who was that kind of person was Frances Gates and she immediately knew that this was the kind of stunt that she would pull.'Bring it on B**ch' Ophelia thought to herse
