I hear a loud shrieking sound and open my eyes and groan looking for the deafening sound.

I look to my left and on my bedside table I see the culprit ringing and vibrating telling me that it's time to wake up.

I reach my hand over and slide the bar on my phone to silence the obnoxious sound.

I look at the time and date and lay back down looking up at the ceiling. "Happy birthday to me...whoppee," I say sarcastically into the still air.

I lay there for a few more minutes before I decide to get out of bed and walk to my bathroom to start the shower.

Once I see the steam coming out from the top of the curtain I take off my clothes and get in.

It feels so refreshing, like yesterday was wiped away. This is my happy place and the only time where I can just be to myself and not have a care in the world.

I stay in there until I start to get pruny and shut if off. I wrap a towel around myself and head back into my room to my closet.

I decide on some dark blue skinny jeans with rips at the knees, a white t-shirt, and a grey and black knitted cardigan to go over it. I put my black knee high boots on and head over to my vanity.

I look at my hair distastefully and decide to just blow dry it and leave it in its natural waves.

Once done I grab my backpack and hurry down the steps hoping that I avoid my father this morning.

As my hand touches the door knob I hear my name being called by a gruff voice.

No, please not today.

I turn around reluctantly to see my father standing a few feet away from me. I come to see that he already has his permanent scowl on for the day as he looks at me detestably.

"Today after school I need you to come straight home," he starts. "Alpha Bryant wants to speak with us and I need you to make a nice meal and show your face," my father surprisingly says in a calm tone. What do they want with us? Last time I checked we left, well actually my father was the one who decided to leave for the both of us.

"Okay," I say lowly expecting this is some sort of game and that I'll be cussed out any second now.

Instead to my suprise he nods his head and turns around to walk away. Before he's out of my view he stops still facing away from me and after a few beats he tells me over his shoulder, "Happy Birthday," and then continues to the living room to finish watching some tv show that sounds like cowboys and indians.

I stand there for a minute shocked not knowing what's going on. That was weird. This dinner must be important for him to be talking to me somewhat decent and remembering my birthday.

I walk out the door not wanting to dwell on it any longer.

I arrive at my high school after a fifteen minute walk and enter the two silver doors that lead inside to my safe haven I call school.

Most people hate school, but I actually like it. It allows me to escape the drama at home and it's also a plus that I'm really good at it.

I begin to walk to my first period class, Anatomy, one of my favorites, when I hear a girls voice calling out from behind me.

"Hey, E wait up."

I turn around and see my best friend Emerie jogging over to me.

"Hey Em, how are you?" I say brightly.

She's dressed in some blue jeans and a white long sleeved shirt adorned with a grey scarf. She's a petite girl with beautiful hazel eyes and dark brown hair.

We've been the best of friends since we were five. We come from the same pack and have a lot in common. We both love food, movies, and have an obsession for reality tv. Personality wise though we're the complete opposite. She's outgoing and I'm shy and like to keep to myself. She goes after what she wants and I am content with whatever I already have. She's absolutely stunning and I'm just your average looking girl even though she tells me I should look in the mirror because I'm gorgeous inside and out. She's truly a great friend.

"Ahhhhh happy birthday!" She exclaims ignoring my question.

"Thanks Em," I shly reply back.

"Girl this is the big one eight you have to be more excited than that. You have the chance to meet your mate now and be with him forever," she says excitedly jumping up and down causing heads to turn our way.

"Keep it down you're making a scene," I whisper where she can only hear me. She rolls her eyes at me.

"This is the big one," she repeats in a quieter tone this time.

"I know. It's just...it's just I don't know."

"It's just what?" She questions waiting for my response.

I look at her and sigh. "It's just what if he takes one look at me and decides that he doesn't want someone like me?"

Em stares back at me like I've just grown two heads. "What do you mean someone like you?"

"Come on Em you know what I mean. I mean look at me, look at who I am. I surely don't have your looks and I also know I'm branded as the pack outsider. I hardly talk to anyone here but you. People look at me differently and..."

"And nothing Elena. That's BS and you know it." She cuts me off.

"First of all you don't even know if your mate is part of our pack or if you even know them at all. Secondly, your beautiful, smart, and kind. Anybody would be lucky to have you. And third stop beating yourself up so much. He's your mate for god's sake. Y'all are destined to be together and have like twenty human pups, so be positive," she says with her head held high like it's the truest thing anybody has ever heard.

I look at her and realize how lucky I am to have her in my life.

"You know what Em, you're right. I am going to start being more positve. I am going to have twenty kids and my mate is going to be amazing and love me for me." I try to say it in the most convincing voice that I can muster up. Hey it's what they always say, "if you believe it you can achieve it." Although I don't know if I actually want twenty kids.

"That's the spirit," she says as she hooks her arm through mine and leads us to our first period class.

When I enter the classroom I notice a pleasant smell. It's nothing like I have ever smelt before and I can't get enough of it. I'm drawn to it. My wolf goes crazy.

My eyes start to wander around the room willing me to find where it's coming from. They soon land on two breathtaking, vivid green eyes that are already staring back at me.

I gasp and my world stops.

I can't breath.

  • Last Chance   Epilogue

5 years later...Elena's POV"Ok I think that's everything for me," I say.I slam my suitcase shut and slap my hands together to rid the imaginary dust from my hands.I then place them on my hips and smile at the view that's in front of me."Honey what are you doing?" I laugh.A small giggle comes from the other suitcase and two big green eyes peek out through a thin opening.I move closer to the suitcase and the giggles grow louder. I lift the top up and scream, "Peek a boo!"The child jumps out of the suitcase and lands on her back laughing at what she finds to be hilarious.I can't help but join her. Her laughter is too contangious. As our laughter begins to die down the door to mine and Pierson's bedroom opens. The sight that comes before me takes my breath away just like it always has and for what I feel always will.My husband slash mate stands before us in all his glory. His dark hair is tousled and his green eyes sparkle spectacularly. He crosses his arms over his broad chest g

  • Last Chance   Chapter 35

Elena's POV I look over my work and nod in approval at my handy work. I just finished bandaging the last wound from the fight."Thank you so much Elena," the pack member says as he hops off the medical bed. "No problem," I say. He then walks off to the rest of the pack. I look around and admire all the members that Noah and I have been taking care of, that risked their lives in today's fight. These loyal men and women have a special place in my heart. They are my new family and I couldn't be happier.A strong hand rests on my shoulder and turns me around. I am met with Noah's soft brown eyes. He gives me a small smile in which I return.I then pull him to me and hug him. He's tense at first before he relaxes and returns it.When we release each other he speaks."Elena, I'm so glad you're okay. I was so worried about you."My heart warms at his words. "Thanks Noah. I'm glad you made it out ok as well. I don't know what I would do if I didn't see your smile everyday when I entered the

  • Last Chance   Chapter 34

Pierson's POV Joe continues to walk my way, but he soon stops a good twenty feet away from the spot where I currenly stand. Coward. His expression is morphed into satisfaction and his eyes gleam with glory. He makes me want to go over there and punch his face in. "Well Pierson, how are you my boy?" His voice is smooth and taunting as the words fall through his mouth. I grit my teeth not saying a word. He just wants a reaction out of me.He smirks. "I'm not one to dance around the point, so let's get straight to it." His eyes turn into slits and his lips form into a smirk."You seem to be in a bind right now and I want nothing more than to help you," he muses sarcastically."Where's Elena?" I don't care how bad of a situation I am in. My mate may be suffering right now and that's my first priority. The corners of his lips lift up further into a smile. "Why my daughter is just fine and dandy.""For now that is," he adds cryptically. At that my blood runs cold. I'm gonna kill him. Mar

  • Last Chance   Chapter 33

Elena's POV "Make sure you stay low," I whisper.Rachel nods and ducks further down. Since I stitched her up she seems a little more fired up.She's still extremely feeble and I know there's no way she'll be able to shift into her wolf if need be. Especially since that powder could still very well be in her body and making its way through her system at a rapid rate.Let's just hope we both can get out of here unscathed before the effects get any stronger.I move along the length of the wall listening to any movements or voices near by. So far, we have moved down from the third floor and now are trying to find the way out of the second floor.Wherever we are, is massive. Doors upon doors line the hallway and every time we turn a corner a new hallway appears. Considering the fact, that we have no idea where we are or how to get out of here, I think were doing pretty well. We've managed to avoid running into anybody, so that's a win in our books."They'll be here soon, so be ready," som

  • Last Chance   Chapter 32

Pierson's POV "Get everybody in the meeting room now," I bark at one of my strategists as I hussle down the stairs.I walk quickly and push through the tall wooden door that leads to the room.A few people are already here. They were probably discussing some things before I barged in.I pace the front of the room and wait impatiently for my team. A few flood in at what seems to me a tantalizing slow pace. It makes me grow more irritable."Pierson what's going on?" Jake asks as he sets foot into the room. He moves to stand in front of me.I look to him and brace myself for the scene that will probably take place once I tell him about the girls. I know how he is. He becomes irrational and doesn't listen to anybody when he's mad or upset."Rachel and Elena are gone Jake," I start. His expression morphs into confusion clearly not getting the problem."Ok. Where did they go?"I sigh heavily. Come on Jake. "They were taken. Most likely by the rogues," I answer calmly. His face pales consid

  • Last Chance   Chapter 31

Pierson's POVI look at my phone for the hundredth time in the past hour. When I see that there's still no reply I can't help but get a little worried. I've texted Elena a few times and it's uncommon of her not reply in the hour within it being sent.I look at my watch resting on my left wrist and scrunch my face together when I see that it has been triple the amount of time it usually takes her to reply. I wish she would just send me a quick text. I know she may be busy working, but I can't help the unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach.Something has been feeling off all day.I need to cut things shorter than usual. "Ok, let's call it a day," I call.At once the sparring stops and my men in their tired and sweaty state move their eyes to my position. We've been training for a few hours now, so I know they are grateful for the early departure.I check my phone again and start to move towards the direction of the house. Before I get too far I see jake huddled by a tree looking
