Chapter 27: Meeting Ben's mother.

Ben knocked at the door, and his mother opened the door. I was surprised to see her beauty at this age. Although she was in her late forties, she had skin as glowing as that of a sixteen-year-old. She was tall and had a petite figure. Her facial expressions explained her wisdom. She seemed to be different from the other women of this age, as her deep, blue eyes described the pain she was hiding in her heart. A smile spread across her lips as she saw me and Ben. She seemed to be hardly able to contain her joy and didn’t know how to react.

She gave me a warm welcome by embracing me and kissing my forehead. “I had been waiting for this day.” She said this as she got me seated on the sofa in the drawing room and offered me water. It was already 1 a.m., and Ben seemed to be in a hurry.

“Mom, I will have to leave urgently. Dad is ill and might perish at any moment. I can sense that he needs me by his side. Do you want to accompany me?” Ben asked.
