CHAPTER 25 — La Arma Counterspy

Rain's point of view

"Didn't I tell you not to leave your room, especially at such a time? Why are you so stubborn?" Ali's voice rose slightly when he told me that.

I met his gaze. "Why are you angry?" Even though I was nervous, I still managed to ask him that.

"I'm not angry. It's just annoying because your stubbornness—"

"I was just worried about you, so I came down to look for you!" I said, because that's the truth. I couldn't calm myself down.

"Rain, that's enough."

My chest heaved. I looked at Mom. "I'm going up to my room." I didn't wait for their answer and turned back. I left the parents' room feeling bad for Ali.

I was on the stairs when I heard Ali's voice calling my name. I didn't pay attention to him. I continued to my room and, upon entering, went straight to the window. I opened it to let fresh air in.
