Two Deaths

My throat was dried, and my head hurts badly. I felt the softness of my bed underneath. Slowly my eyes were compelled to flutter open. I dazed at the familiarity of the place.

A hand was immediately placed on my head and it was accompanied with the voice which laced with deep concern. “Are you okay dear?” I managed to seize my head upwards to find my mother’s eyes which raced with worry.

Faintly I mumbled out. “I’m fine mom.” My voice was weak and I found myself trying to get up the bed. My mother aided me with support in seating.

Lazily and weakly, I leaned myself on the headboard and I arched my hand to touch my head. It was hurting faintly.

Her hand sneaked to hold mine. “I was really scared when I heard the gunshot, I thought something bad had happened to you.” I didn’t respond to her statement and it had her adding slightly. "Do you want me to call the doctor honey, I can get Diego to call the doctor back.”
