The Meeting

Allison’s POV

“Hey girl, we have a meeting in an hour.” Gabby called, getting my attention from the novel I was engrossed in.

“Alright! I'll be there, thanks dear." I answered.

An hour later

“So which pack are we starting with and when will the attack take place.” Jake asked from the other side of the table, he was sitting directly opposite me. What the hell is he even talking about? An attack? Why?

I snorted. “We are not attacking anyone Jake.” I said not looking at him.

“Why is that?” He asked.

“It’s unnecessary.” I scoffed. “Why should you attack innocent wolves.” 

“Innocent wolves?” He gave a small laugh and looked serious again. “These innocent wolves would rip out your head in an instant when they see you. Would you still call them innocent then, huh?”

"That's because we always start the fight. It makes them see us as a threat. We can be friendly too, we don’t have to always kill and shed blood for no just cause. We should show them that we are better than that and not the other way round." I said while making eye contact with a few wolves. 

Lucas, a young wolf stood up, annoyance showing all over his face. “Stop talking like you’ve not killed before, you’re a rogue just like every one of us. You’re just being pretentious. A rogue doesn’t show pity. You should start going with us on jobs, probably then you’d see it as a game and not really killing.” 

"Allison, making peace with them is not as easy as you think. Unlike you, some of us were sent into exile for one crime or the other. Some of us were not born with loving hearts, we love to fight, to challenge, to take revenge for other rogues that they killed. Rogues are not peace-loving wolves, is that so hard for you to understand?” Another wolf said. I was speechless, there was nothing I could do to change their minds.

“That’s enough!” Will said. He had been quiet for some time and everyone waited for his final decision. “We’ll begin with Midnight Pack, the attack would be made tomorrow evening. Jake, pick your warriors. Whoever doesn't want to go with you will face the consequences. The meeting is over, Allison, come with me to my office now.” He said, getting up and leaving the others. I could hear Jake calling a few names and I was glad he didn’t call mine. I followed closely behind Will as he walked to his office without saying a word to me. 

“Close the door.” He said, immediately I entered.

"What was that? What was the meaning of what you did out there? You've killed before haven't you?" He asked but I kept mute. "Answer me, Allison, did you?" 

“Yes, but it was…” 

“Were they innocent?”

“Yes, but I don’t want to do that again. Please, don’t make me do it again.” I pleaded.

“Oh my dear, you would, because that’s who you are. In fact, you’d lead the next operation, so start getting prepared for it. It’s a big one, don’t disappoint me, you know how much I hate it.” He said.

“I... I… can’t” I stuttered.

“Yes you can and you will. Now, get out before I lose my temper”. He said looking outside the window. I left the office for my room. I was confused and also scared. 

“Hey, are you ok? Did he hurt you?” Gabby asked the moment I got into the room.

“He did not touch me. I’m fine.” I answered. 

"You shouldn't have said that knowing that the majority would not support you. Allison, you’re putting your life in danger. It’s too dangerous for you to say that.”

"I know, but we can be better wolves, right? They don't have to hate us this much."

“The possibility of that happening is very slim. Meanwhile, Jake has picked his warriors, you’re lucky he didn’t pick you.”

“Well not so lucky, Will said I’ll be leading the next attack.”

“That’s cool. You’re strong, it wouldn’t be a problem. This would officially be your first task.”

“I don’t want to use my strength for evil.” I answered. “I did once but it wasn’t intentional. “Gabby can you do me a favor?”

“Ooook! What …”

“I need to see Theo. Can you cover for me? If anyone asks of me, you can tell them I went for a run or I went to get something.”

“Allison, this…”

“Please Gabby. Please don’t say no.” I pleaded.

“Alright! But you have to return on time.” She warned.

"I will, I promise. Thank you." I said giving her a quick hug. I went to my bedside drawer and pick up the piece of paper with the alpha's stamp. Putting it in one of my jeans pockets, I set out for Moon Shine pack. 

Getting close to Moon Shine pack, I spotted some guards close to the border, probably waiting for intruders. I walked towards them hoping I won’t be sent back.

“Hi!” I greeted trying to sound friendly. 

“Who might you be?” A guard asked.

“I’m Allison. Can I see the alpha please?” I asked.

“What for?” He asked again.

"I have an important message for him. Here, he gave me this paper for your permission." I said bringing out the slightly rumpled paper Theo had given me.

“You’re Allison?”  He asked.

“Yes.”

“Please come in.” He said making way for me to walk through.

“Alpha gave the order to always let you in whenever you’re here.” He said and I simply gave a nod. 

“Can you locate the pack house?” He asked once again.

“Oh yeah! I should. Thank you.” I said.

“Alright! Take care." He said. I successfully got to the pack house, seeing it in the day now, it looked very big and quite spacious. I walked up and opened the big door. It was a quiet place, everyone minded their business and did their stuff. I turned and I saw the kitchen with a few people inside.

"Hi there." A lady greeted me from the kitchen. She came out to get a view of my face properly. She looked calm but I could sense a strong aura around her.  “Are you lost?” She asked.

“Oooh! Not really. I’m looking for Theo” I said.

“Oooooh Alpha.” She said with a bit of surprise.

“Yeah, I kind of have something to discuss with him.” 

“Emma? Who’s there” Another person called.

“It’s just someone asking of the Alpha.” Emma said.

“He’s busy and can’t talk right now, Beta’s instruction.” A boy said holding a cup.

“Don’t be rude to a visitor, Ethan.” She said facing the boy. “He’s in a meeting, you can have your seat, we were about to watch a movie.” She said smiling.

“Oooh, I can't." I tried refusing.

“Come on, what would you be doing while waiting for him.” She said.

“Ok!!!” I said smiling back at her.

“Ethan get the popcorn.” She called. “I’m Emma” She said with her hands stretched out. “Beta female. What’s your name?” She asked. She’s Beta female? That explains the slight aura around her.

"I'm Allison," I said, simply stopping there. Ethan who I guessed was her brother brought the popcorn and we were set to watch the movies. 

After about an hour and a half of watching a movie, we held voices from one end of the house. I sensed a familiar smell and in no time, I saw my mate, looking like he had just had a shower. He looked like he was searching for something around until his eyes found mine. I stood up in an instant, making Ethan and Emma get up too. 

“Allison?” He called.

“Hi Theo.” It was all I could say. I waited for him to say something but he didn’t. 

“I’ve been waiting for you.” I said.

“Sorry about that. I had a meeting.” “Looks like Emma and her twin kept you company while I was away.” He said.

“We sure did.” Emma said and I smiled. She was so nice. 

“There’s something I’d like to discuss with you.” I said "Can we talk? Privately" I said when I noticed that we had company in the room. I felt like letting Theo know first before anyone else.

“Yeah, of course.” He said, leading me outside. 

"I thought we would stay at your office," I said looking at him when we got outside.

"My office is for formal issues, I should not always act formally to you.” He said while intertwining our hands as we walked. I didn’t feel like pulling back my hand because this felt right.

“How are you?” I asked.

“I’ve not really been fine since you left. I’m sure you’re making up for that already.” He said making me laugh a little.

“Who told you I came to make up for the last time.” I said smiling. 

“I saw the look you gave me Allison, stop trying to deny it.” He said. We were now in a field, still walking.

“You said you wanted to know me, what would you like to know.” I asked. A part of my mind reminded me why I came but I pushed it back. 

“Well I would like to know so many things but let’s start with the small things. What’s your last name?” 

“Martin.” I answered. “What’s yours?”

“Brooks.”

“Sounds Swedish.”

“Yeah. Some of us bear Sweden names. What's your favorite color?"

“Blue. You?”

“Purple. Your best friend.”

“Gabriella. She’s my roommate.”

“Alex. We’ve been friends since we were kids.”

“Who do you love most in this world?”

“My sister, Tessa.” He said with a small smile. “The death of my parents affected her so much. She would always cry herself to sleep every day, I was scared that she would get depressed. I had to sleep in her room for months because she would always cry especially at night. After some months, she got better and started going out to meet her friends. I’m sorry she reacted that way to you the other night, it’s just because of the pain that their demise caused us.” 

“They were killed by rogues, right?” I asked.

“Al…” He called.

“I know they were killed by rogues. That explains why she was not happy seeing me and couldn’t hide it.” I said. “I’m sorry Theo, I really am.”

“You didn’t do anything, you don’t have to be sorry.” He said looking at me.

“My kind hurt you both so much that your sister hates me. If I wasn’t you mate, I’m sure you’d hate me as well.”

“Allison, please…”

“It’s fine, I'll make sure such an event doesn't repeat itself again," I said looking straight at him. "Theo, an attack would be made tomorrow night at Midnight pack.”

“What!!!” He exclaimed.

"We had a meeting earlier today about it. Rogues want revenge for their members that were killed during the attack on your pack. I tried to stop them but they are already consumed with rage. I don't know whose pack is it but you need to warn them."

“That’s Alex’s pack. He’s the Alpha there and his mate Ashley is the Luna.”

“Alex as in your best friend?” I asked, shocked at what I had heard.

“Yes.” He answered. “I need to call Alex immediately.

We walked back to the pack how but this time we walked faster. The moment we got into the pack house, a man with a similar aura as Emma stood up from where he was sitting. I guessed Theo had mind-linked him. 

“Allison, this is Carter, my Beta. You already met Emma his mate.” Theo said in a quick voice. The beta simply gave a nod. Theo’s mood had changed he moved from being calm to anxious. He walked back to his office, opening the door ajar for me and the beta to come in. 

"Double the warriors at the border, there should be tight security. I'll get on a call with Alex now." Theo said. He was fully in alpha mode and I stood there watching as he gave orders for some warriors to be changed.

“Yes alpha.” Carter said with a bow and left the office. 

"Hey, Theo." I heard another male voice on the phone.

“Alex, I’ve just been informed that an attack would be made on your pack by tomorrow evening.” Theo said.

“What!!!” Alex exclaimed. “Who told you that?” 

“Forget who told me and do the needful before it becomes late. They intend to take you by surprise, so be ready. We’ll talk more once this is over.” Theo said and by talking more, I knew he was referring to who told him.
