MELVIN’S POV

We arrived at Blood Moon late in the afternoon. The tires of the car screeched against the interlocked surface of the castle grounds as Kyle drove into the compound.

I got out of the vehicle and decided to head straight for my quarters rather than go through the throne room and have a little chat with Father.

“I will deal with Father later. I can’t handle a face-off, right now,” I mumbled quietly to myself as I changed trajectory toward my quarters.

“General, are we not heading to the throne room?” Kyle’s voice sang the question out from behind me.

I looked back at him just in time to see him slam the driver seat’s door shut.

“Uhh, no. You can go ahead and proceed to your quarters,” I gestured towards the soldiers’ wing of the castle where his quarters were, “I will deal with my father later.”

He bowed and I waved him off. I resumed walking towards my quarters, feeling the weight of the day’s and yesterday’s events bear down on me.
