On a bustling night in the city, I found myself craving street food from a food trailer far from my home. I pulled up my hoodie to hide my face and observed the ambient glow of the street lights, shop signs and building reflections. The diverse crowd around me was busy buying and selling, with lovers strolling by and an emotional group watching a street performance of a love song that touched my heart. The lyrics reminded me of the complexities in my love life.

"Chicken barbecue and a canned beer, please," I requested from the person in the food trailer.

"Coming right up," he replied.

I settled into one of the plastic chairs at a table with a disposable cup and napkins. The gentle breeze calmed my soul as I watched people passing by, some stopping to buy from the food trailer. It seemed like no one cared about each other's business at that moment. If only it had always been that way, no one would intrude on anyone's privacy.

The arrival of my order brought me back to reality. The

BELLA'S POV "Why did my heart flutter at the sight of him with my boss? Whatever that may be between them is none of my business... Come to think of it, my boss can't possibly be with two brothers. Snap out of it, Bella. Ms. Jọláadé's feelings for Mr. Zach are genuine." My thoughts were in turmoil as I recalled the scenario again. It wasn't a work day, it was another day to rest, reset, and unwind. I was dressed in a crop top and shorts. I settled on the clean floor of my living room with a plate of pastries, a cup of black steaming coffee, and a TV show on display, desperately hoping there would be no work emergencies. My phone beeped, it was a text from Wale stating, "You owe me." I returned the phone to its initial position and continued with my meal. I indeed owe him even after how I had turned him down the day he offered dinner at the same time as Christian, who I also had to turn down. He didn't hesitate to help me out when I reached out to him for help. With his status and

JỌLÁADÉ'S POV There is nothing quite like a uniquely crafted, elegant evening gown for an official dinner party thrown by a distinguished dignitary in the nation, poised to captivate and command the attention of all, perhaps even causing them to forget their companions. The ultimate way to command that full attention is to arrive fashionably late. The grand entrance, when most guests are already present, is paramount. All eyes are fixed on you as if you are the host, seizing the moment. As I entered the lavishly adorned venue, aglow with opulent chandeliers and soft lighting, all gazes were upon me, and the rising murmur of the crowd was all I could hear; evidently, I had disrupted the socializing. I had arrived to reclaim my crown and honour; in that moment, I had to embody a warrior in a gown, determined to succeed. Despite my nerves, I remained steadfast. Gracefully, I made my way to a cocktail table, where a waiter approached me with a drink. I accepted a glass of champagne and

I've come to realize that appearances can be deceiving. It's hard to believe I initially thought Rótìmí was the owner of the firm and that Gabriel and Erica were a perfect match. I stood by the dining table, pouring a substantial amount of milk into the baby bottle. However, when memories of the kiss I shared with Gabriel flooded my mind, fear gripped me, causing the milk to spill on the table. Jadesola noticed and approached me, taking over the baby's meal preparation. "Are you alright?" She inquired with curiosity. "Of course... I just have a lot on my mind," I lied. There was no way I could confess to her about the brief, intimate kiss shared with my ex. I couldn't bring myself to admit it. "Zach?" She said. "Yes..." I sighed, sitting down and watching her prepare the baby's meal in my place. "I'm sorry... Zach and I didn't work out because we were both too focused on our careers and neglected to find a balance. You shouldn't make the same mistake," she advised. "Jadesola, I'm

It has been several weeks, and despite my busy schedule, I find that I cannot stop thinking about him. Even during my hectic days, I make time to communicate with him regularly. His appealing voice, captivating mannerisms, charming gaze, and enchanting smiles never fail to turn me on, whether I am simply thinking about him or having a video call with him. Perched on my bed, my laptop before me, my arms wrapped around the fancy pillow against my chest; I had worn a nightgown with a seductive allure. "Baby, you are going to get me aroused right here." He admitted and I couldn't help but smile in response. "I hope it isn’t what I'm thinking." He added, furrowing his eyebrows. "Baby..." I muttered, trying to be cute. "I thought you've been busy..." I found it difficult to drink the wine in my mouth. "Why is she questioning me? Does she know something?" I pondered. "I believe perhaps he has been sexually starved for a while since you've been away, and your husband is honourable enough not to be unfaithful. I think that might have caused it." I fabricated an explanation to reassure her. She reclined in her chair and expressed discomfort with her body, hoping that when he arrived, he wouldn't insist on another session. I felt sorry for her, knowing the kind of man she referred to as her husband. "Oh, by the way," she said, scrolling through her phone, she showed me a photo that made my heart skip a beat. "How did she get this picture?" I wondered. It was the same photo Zach had shown me, showing Gabriel holding my hand as we left the event. "Did something happen between you and Zach? Did you two have an argument? Considering he left you alone in front of the production crew." "How did she find out?" I thought. "My hus

For the first time in a while, I went for a run around the neighbourhood. It was challenging because I hadn't been active lately, but it was the only way to distract myself from the strong emotions building up inside me. When I got back home, I was sweating and out of breath. I was surprised to see Erica waiting at my doorstep with a sad expression on her face. "I had no idea you work out," she said, surprised by my sudden workout routine. "Yes, I do it now and then," I responded, trying to catch my breath. "Hey, I'm really sorry about Gabriel and me acting so uncivilized earlier," she apologized. "Oh, that's okay. It's pretty normal for couples to have their moments," I replied, downplaying the situation. But deep down, I knew it bothered me enough to go out and clear my head that same evening. "Are you sure?" she questioned, sceptical of my nonchalant response. "Absolutely," I lied. "I think I'll head in to take a shower now," I told her, looking for an excuse to l

With my mind still preoccupied by thoughts of Gabriel and reminiscing about the way he once made me feel. I momentarily longed to be the one in the kitchen with him that evening; a desire I knew was inappropriate, yet he managed to reignite my longing for him once again like the past. At first, I thought I wanted him to stay away from me. However, I was unexpectedly relieved after receiving his text, which was irresponsible of me. Upon arrival at the firm, the driver snapped me out of my thoughts. After paying him, I gathered my belongings and saw Bella waiting at the entrance, clearly concerned. She took my things as the driver drove off. "My car's acting up," I informed her. "Sorry about that, Ma," she replied as we entered the building together. "Fill me in on my schedule," I requested, acknowledging the greetings of the other staff with a wave of my hand. I would have never imagined. How could the son of a conglomerate, the heir to the largest insurance company in the state, have been in my presence for over a month without my knowledge? I clearly need to be more observant. Nevertheless, Wale's presence has been immensely beneficial and productive. A website launch, an app in progress, and a swift and reliable office internet network were all his contributions. I felt agitated and anxious while pacing back and forth in my office; he had stopped answering my calls. Suddenly, he entered my office, catching me off guard. However, his expression was not what I had expected; he was sporting a wide grin and carrying a shopping bag. "Zach? You need to explain yourself. What's happening? You had me concerned." "There's no need to worry," he replied, moving closer. Placing the bag on the sofa, he continued, "Do you recall the movie trailer that garnered over two million views in just two days?" "Yes, I do," I responded. "We have received numerous calls and emails from people requesting to attend the premiere. It's in a week, and I want you to accompany me." "Are you certain this is wise?" "Why wouldn't it be?" "What about your agency and fans?" "Can you momentarily set them aside and focus on me? This is my desire." After a brief pause, I nodded, "I'll do it for you," he motioned towards the bag. "What's inside?" I asked as we both sat on

I followed the guard to the room where he was detained and handcuffed. Both the lawyer and Zach wanted to accompany me, but I insisted on going alone. Upon entering the room, I was met with a malevolent grin on the guard's face, causing a shiver to run down my spine. The guard excused himself as I seated, leaving me to face the most malevolent individual I had ever encountered. "I received your message from the court. So, you've decided to take legal action?" he sneered. "I can't fathom where you found the courage to do so. Someone must have influenced you. But beware, if the tables turn, I will come after you and all those close to you." It was evident that he was trying to mask his fear. He knew there was no turning back from this, as I, the witness, was determined to ensure that he received the rightful judgment he deserved. Taking a deep breath, I began, "Firstly, I must express my regret for ever crossing paths with you. Secondly, I release you from my heart today so that I m

The following morning, he was still fast asleep when I woke up. I brushed my teeth and went through my skincare routine. I heard a strange noise coming from the living room, so I decided to investigate. As I walked downstairs, my braids fell across my shoulders. To my surprise, the door was left slightly open. Although we might have forgotten to lock it due to last night's activities, we definitely didn't leave it ajar. I noticed a large suitcase near the entrance, which was unexpected since Zach hadn't mentioned any travel plans. I heard a grunt and some muffled talking outside the house. I waited and saw an elderly man entering, carrying a heavy suitcase that he dropped by the door. When he saw me, he asked, "And who might you be?" I was at a loss for words since I didn't recognize him, but then Mrs. Williams walked in, surprising me. "You're here!" she exclaimed happily, and I greeted her in a traditional manner by kneeling. "Hey!" she stopped me, pulling me to my feet. "You don'

I have decided to detach myself from my neighbours; they always end up causing me heartache. I graciously accepted the gift, but it didn't really excite me. I put on a fake smile and greeted her. She thanked me and left with the little girl. I wish them well and hope they stick around longer than the others. I wasn't in the mood for any more neighbour drama; I had my fill of it. Why is it customary to give gifts to new neighbours when they move in? I don't personally see the point. I went back inside and took a much-needed shower, feeling refreshed and clean. I returned to the living room in casual attire and watched a bit of a movie while having lunch. Then, I received a call from Zach, saying, "The trial date has been set. We'll be going to court more often." he texted. I let out a sigh, my breath shaking, a hint of fear creeping into my heart. I took deep breaths, trying to calm myself. I have to do this, not just for myself, but for my mother. Benson must be held accountable.

Placing the cup on the tray, I started to rise from the bed. "Where are you off to?" he inquired. "I need to head to the gym, so I must get ready," I explained. "Should I accompany you?" he asked. "No, you can stay here and wait for my return. It should only take around two to three hours," I reassured. "Two to three hours?" he exclaimed. "Are you sure about this? What if you injure yourself?" he countered. "I am not a child, Zach. I am perfectly capable of looking after myself," I insisted. Just as the words left my lips, I accidentally bumped my leg against one of the clothing boxes near the closet. I winced, and before I knew

But apart from a kiss on my forehead, there wasn't anything more." I vented my feelings while trying to keep my composure in my seat. "And you wanted more..." the therapist asked. "Yes, I did." "Then why didn't you take the initiative?" "Because... because I was scared he avoided it because of my past. Maybe he doesn't find me attractive anymore," I assumed. "When a man treats you so well, it shows his true feelings for you. Have you thought that he might not have made a move because he knows you're hurting and thinks it wouldn't be considerate of him?" the therapist suggested. I sighed, realizing she might be right.
