Peter woke up early. He took a few days off from work to sort out his life. He needed rest , as the doctor said. He was taking the Alzam's but he felt it was not working. It just made him sleepy and sometimes high. He decided to take a drive to the beach. A day out would do him some good. He walked out into the garden watching Martha pluck apples.
He walked over,''Martha, would you like to go to the beach? with me?''
Martha's face had a surprised look on it. She nodded in response.
Taking the apples, she walked inside to the kitchen, ''I will make some snacks for the trip''.
''No need, We will go for breakfast before we head to the beach, get dressed, I will be in the car '', Peter said in a cheerful tone.
Martha stared at his slim back in amazement. She did not know why he had changed or if he had changed but this side of Peter was really a good change of pace. Was he regretful for all eighteen years of his life yet? Or was he feeling
''Ah, You must be Peter. Annie told me about you!!!''.Peter stood frozen in place. He did not remember telling Matilda the about Annie or even mentioning her name. The sun was setting in the far west creating an auburn glow in the sky. The shadows of the trees swayed in the wind sending shivers up his spine.''Come in'', Matilda invited him.She was a petite old lady, in her late fifties. He wavy red hair tied back in a bandana and her long dress swept the floor. She looked like an encyclopedia of the afterworld, wise and experienced.Peter reluctantly stepped in through the narrow doorway. The room was lit by many candles creating an illuminous glow. A place where the dead would take joy. It was cramped and Peter squashed himself to the chair infront of her table which she motioned him to.It was a small round table with a black cotton table cloth. In the centre was a large crystal ball. It was the size of an adult sized bowling
John sat on the bed alone. He couldn't quite belive the events of last night. He had bribed the janitor, who was not even the janitor. And the nanny was supposedly his personal nanny. His best friend turned out to be his personal assistant. The orphanage head mistress was involved in everything. Mrs Jenkins was not only his mothers high school best friend but was also his godmother. And they all protected him in their own way in silence for so long. He did not know if he was lucky or unfortunate. He looked around and the room was completely empty. Alex bed was already made, and a fresh jeans and golfer layed on the bed for him. John took a shower and got dressed. He still was in disbelief and walked like a zombie down the stairs into the dining room.''John, we have been waiting for you'', Mrs Jenkins said as she laid the table. Mr Jenkins sat at the table reading the morning daily news paper and Alex sat looking at his tablet.John sat at the table, everyon
''Andrew''John looked at the phone in his hand. Before he could swipe the screen to answer it, the call was answered. He lifted the phone to his ear. Sky's voice came booming through the ear peice. A look of realisation washed over John's face. It was the clone phone. Obviously Andrew would not be calling him. He listened intently to the conversation between the two, totally grossed out.It was of a sexual nature mixed with a signing deal for Michael. After the call disconnected , John put the phone into his pocket. He shook his head at the conversation he just heard. It was clear that Sky had her head in the clouds. And Andrew still had no shame.John was about to leave when the door opened and Alex stepped out onto the deck. They both sat next to each other absorbing the morning sun.''Do you think he has changed?'', John asked as he stared out at the building across. There was a cat in the window.''Could be! I don't know ! You have met him, do y
Peter left a puzzled John and walked to his car. He didn't care if John thought he was the real deal or not. He was willing to make amends. He needed to get his daughter back. He wasted eighteen years blaming her for something no one had control over. It was never her fault. He now knew this and he regretted not being there for her when she needed him. He regretted not giving her the love she deserved. He hoped it was nt too late. But now he had Martha. She never left his side, no matter what. She stood by him, stood with him but never against him. He needed to make amends with her before he took a trip down memory lane.He stopped in front of the flower stand.''May I have eighteen red roses?'',He asked the little old lady selling flowers. She handed him eighteen crisp blood red roses in a paper. Peter looked at the wrapping, taking out a silk white hankerchief he wrapped the boquet and discarded the paper. He smiled at the beautiful boquet. A simple
Old Mr Walters phone rang.''We have your grand daughter, we will pick up the money a The Blue Bonnie Pub and grill on old main road tonight, 11pm sharp. Do not involve the cops, or we will not think twice about slaughtering her like a cow'', The voice boomed through the phone.Old Mr Walters called John informing him about the call he had just received.''Didn't we just get the goons that had kidnapped Adrianna?'', John asked Alex puzzled after he disconnected the call.''We did'', Alex confirmed.''We need to go tonight and unmask these imposters!!!'',John said through gritted teeth.John's phone rang as he was about to sit benind his desk.''Peter''''Now what could this fool want?'', he thought.Answering the call, John blurted out all that he hard from his father. He wanted to know what the plan was.John loosened his tie on annoyance. This fool now was worried about his daughter who he tricked, belittled and
''This is way too dangerous'', Mrs Jenkins whispered,''We should let him sleep it off.Get a stand in for tonight. You know we need to keep him safe''.''Mom, you know we just can't do that!!!'', Alex warned.Mrs Jenkins knew he was right. How on earth would they get a look alike in just a few hours and brief them on the plot. After much contemplating she finally sighed. Her son was right. At 7h30p, with a heavy heart she woke him up. John looked at the bedside clock and got out of bed. Taking a shower and changing into a tracksuit and takkies her went down to the kitchen.Mrs Jebkins had made dinner. He was a bit hungry, his stomach growled in confirmation. He sat down at the table while Mrs Jenkins dished out a large helping of roash chicken and vegetables.''John'', Mrs Jenkins started in barely a whisper,''You don't have to do this. You know they don't have Adrianna!''.''I know I don't have to do this,Mom'',The words rolled off his
10h50pm.The three men sat in the suv in the deserted parking lot. The bar was now closed and the trees whistled in the wind in the emoty park nearby. How od for a scerene park to be located next to a roudy bar.By day it was parents heaven, kids would play on the swings, the junglejims and the sand pits but at night it was the drunkards paradise. In the distance they saw headlights approaching at high speed. Eventually a black mini van haulted to a stop few feet away from their suv. They squinted to see through the bright lights but it was almost blinding. Two figures in black shirts and black jumpsuits and masks stepped out of the driver and passanger side.Walking to the front of the van they summoned them to come forward. They looked like they were the real deal robbers and kidnappers from the movies.John and Peter stepped out of the suv, leaving Patrick in the back seat ,out of view.''You didn't alert the cops? very wise move!!!', The female
A wailing Sierra snuggled onto Jefferson.''Please have mercy on us, we didn't mean to'', Jefferson said in regret. He deeply regretted ever listening to his wife. No matter how good her acting was, they were still caught.''Have mercy?, My daughter is missing and you took advantage of the situation. Trying to swindle millions from your own family!!! How dare you aske for mercy? '', Peter roared in anger.Martha sat in the back of the suv , but she could hear the commotion. Her heart warmed at the very thought of Peter acknowledging his daughter. Patrick also felt the same. Her fear had disappeared as she realised she was no safe.''The mercy we are showing you, is that you are unharmed'', John said coldly. The police had now approached the scene. As they looked at the tied up Sierra and Jefferson, they were confused. These were Walters , why would they be tied up like dogs?John motioned them to the suv while asking the other two offi
