DAMIEN POV

As I drew closer to the door I could hear voices speaking inside. They were whining and moaning about the contract.

I opened the door and walked in. Just like outside their jaws dropped at my presence.

"Boss, what are you doing here?" My creative director enquired while his team looked at each other as if they could figure out the reason for my presence on each other's face. They do look worried, which I must say they have a good reason to be.

I took out my phone and called the head of HR.

"Hello, sir," he voice came on immediately.

"I want you to send out advert for a new creative director, and this time I will be conducting the interview."

I ended the call before the man on the other end could say something and then turned to face the now fired director.

He looked flummoxed, like he couldn't believe what was happening. He should have seen it coming. Losing to an upcoming company. What an embarrassment.

"In case you somehow didn't catch what that was. You are fired!

KAMARIA POV "Damn girl, did you add a ton, these past few days?" Jonathan teased setting Davina back on her feet while setting the girl off again. "You know Uncle Jonathan, you are not supposed to talk about a ladies weight," Davina teased back with a mock stern expression that broke down at the surprised look on Jonathan's face. "I am sorry, my fine lady," Jonathan bowed his head at her, making her crackle some more. "Morning mum," Davina joined us at the couch giving me a kiss, before moving on to Reign and then Bobby. "Morning, Princess," Bobby smiled at my baby girl. "What are you all doing here?" Before anyone could answer a loud rumble broke the brief silence. The rumble was so loud that we felt the ground underneath our feet shake. All eyes turned to gawk at my daughter who looked as if her face had been set on fire. "I am hungry," she whispered with a sheepish expression on her face and we all bursted into laughter. "Come on squint I will make you something," Reign go

KAMARIA POV This is the first time I am going to see my parents after ten years there was no way I was going with a man in tow. We finished our breakfast while chatting and laughing with each other. To an outsider it looked like such a domestic scene. After we were done with breakfast I sent Davina off to pack her things while Reign and I cleaned up. "Does your decision have anything to do with what happened yesterday?" I nodded. "Partially," I added. He gave me a questioning look, which I answered. "I need to see my parents, I can't keep pushing it off, and this gives me the perfect excuse to do it." He nodded with nothing on his face. "I hope you know I am here if you need my help." "I know," I said softly. "How long do you plan to stay?" "I will stay till you come back." "And the office in London?" "I think they can manage without me for few days, that is how long your trip will take?" I looked away. I don't know. I know running away isn't the answer but I wasn't sur

DAMIEN POVThis time my call was answered immediately. "Set the date for the interview next tomorrow," I barked into the phone and ended the call. That settled I got down to what I really have today which is chasing down investors, and convincing those who are threatening to pull out because of how poorly we are doing in the profit department to stay put. By the time lunch rolled around I was able to convince two out of three of the investors not to pull out their resources from the company and got one new investor whom I promised dinner some day. I stood from desk and stretched out the kinks in my cooped up muscles. I have been sitting all day. My eyes caught on the picture of Lily and I on my desk and I decided to pay her a visit at her work place. Maybe we can go out to lunch together. I picked up my suit jacket and headed for the door. "I am going out," I threw at my secretary when I passed her. Lily has a shoot this morning at a site not too far from the company and that is

DAMIEN POVI entered my car and drove off, heading straight to her house. I didn't know what I was going to do when I get there, but I was too mad to care. When I got to her address I was amazed at her house. I wondered how she could afford such a beautiful house. I stayed in the car and contemplated a bit whether what I was about to do was the right thing or not. When I realised I didn't give a fuck if it was right or not I stepped out of the car and headed towards the house. I pressed the door bell and then waited. I was patient enough for about a second before I was back to pressing the door bell again, this time harder. I stopped with the door bell when I heard footstep drawing closer to the door. The door rattled as it was being opened and then it opened and I looked up expecting to see Kamaria's face, but it wasn't. What the fuck is he doing here?! Was the the first thing that flashed through my mind when my eyes fell into his.“Where is she?” I demanded entering into his

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter forty three: Where is mum?

KAMARIA POV Another wave of nostalgia shot through my chest as I stepped into the living room. It still smells like my mother's cookies. Her favourite comfort food. She loves to make them, especially on weekends. "Where is mum?" It was odd that she didn't come out to greet us when we arrived. Mum always goes where dad goes. "She is not around," dad didn't look at me when he spoke. I frowned. His response sounded vague. "Did she go to the market?" "No," he answered coldly but still wouldn't say where she went. I was about to probe but Thomas entrance with our bags cut me off. "Where should I take this Mr Paisley?" Dad turned to look at me. "I had no idea you were coming so I didn't prepare anything for you. Your daughter can take your old room, while you take the guest room, though it needs some cleaning." His voice though not accusing was still reserved, and I couldn't dodged this feeling that he is blaming me for something, maybe it is my guilty conscience talking. It is certa

KAMARIA POV He didn't answer and carried on like I didn't say anything. His silence was beginning to irritate me. "Why can't you just tell me where she is!" I yelled, did you two get a divorce? He scoffed as if it was a ridiculous idea. Which it is, because I know how much my parents love each other. "Then tell me, please dad." "She is dead." Everything inside me went still, like I have been drenched with a bucket of cold water. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak. Dead! My phone started ringing shattering the tensed shocking silence in the room. I was so frozen in my shock that I ignored the ringing phone, but it wouldn't stop ringing. "I think you should answer, might be something important." What is more important than my mother being dead. I did as he asked. Like a mindless zombie I raised the phone to ear after I picked. "Hello," my voice sounded hollow. "He was here," Reign spoke frantically into the phone breaking into my frozen state. I blinked severally to pull m

DAMIEN POV"Look I didn't tell you about Kamaria not because I wanted to hurt you, but because I wanted to wait until things were more certain before telling you. Things are already shaky between us, I didn't want to rock the boat further." I was being honest which reflected in my eyes as I head her stare straight on, searching her eyes for the agreement to my words that things aren't okay between us, and haven't been for a while. This time she was the one who couldn't keep my gaze for whatever reason. She looked away, her slender arms clutched around the sofa pillow like it is a life line. "I don't know what you are talking about, you lied to me and somehow you are trying to make it look as if it is my fault." she turned around and dropped her feet to the ground, her expression closed off. She stood up from the sofa and walked away leaving me a bit dazed and confused about her words, and the coldness in which it was delivered left me reeling. I recovered before she was totally ou

DAMIEN POVI take care of myself and my body right now is a work of art. Back to business. I needed to discuss about Kamaria's kid, my kid and what it means to us. "About the kid, my daughter," I started catching Lily's attention. "What about her?" She turned to face me, dropping the glass in her hand on the centre table, a serious unreadable expression on her face. Not good. I was about to answer when the door bell rang interrupting us. "I believe that is dinner," she said. "I will get it." I got up and made my way to the door. I opened it to a young fella wearing a baseball cap, and the usual teenager's mode of dressing. I collected our order and paid him, adding a little tip to his money. He was really grateful about it. I took the take out to the dinning and was soon joined by Lily who had gone to bring the plates. We settled down to eat and I allowed a few bites before returning to the initial topic, but before I could speak my phone started ringing, once again interru

The guy she hired to do her dirty deed confessed to everything and Lily didn’t bother to deny it.In a moment of insanity I visited her because I wanted to know why she did it. I still found it hard to believe that she was capable of murder. This was a woman that I loved in the past. Had she been this devious from the onset? If she was she hid it very well. Back to my visit to her in jail before she was transferred to the prison. This was after the judgement from the judge found her guilty. The guard on that day was kind enough to provide us a small room to talk in with no one disturbing us. Lily waddled her way in, and paused briefly at the sight of me. Her pregnancy was beginning to show now. “Didn’t think I will ever see you again,” she said taking the seat across from me. She looked tired. I wanted to feel pity for her situa

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter 120: Coming back to him

KAMARIA’S POV“You may kiss the bride,” the priest officiating our wedding ceremony said with so much gusto, as if to infuse some excitement into the tensed and rigid atmosphere in the small room. I felt Reign stare intently at me, his expression nervous and questioning. He wanted to know if I wanted him to kiss me.I smiled to say yes. His green eyes immediately brightened with joy and relief, but as he leaned in to kiss me a sound echoed in the church drawing everyone’s attention. We all looked towards the door, and there he stood. The man I love. I should have known Damien couldn’t resist not coming. I felt Reign stiffen beside me and reached out to touch him. “I am not going to change my mind,” I said softly. “In fact is too late,” I smiled up at him. His green eyes searched mine for any signs of regrets. He is not going to find any. I might not be in love with him but that doesn’t mean I regret marrying him. “I love you,” he mumbled and closed the gap between our two lips.

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter 119: I lost her

DAMIEN’S POV “Mmm!” I moaned at the softness of her lips, pressing my body hoarder against her softness as my lips ravaged her. A raging hunger like one I have never known before beseeched my body and my quickly hardening cock begged to sink into her warm welcoming softness. My hands moved up to palm her soft gloves the hardened pick tinging the centre of my palms as I gave it a hard squeeze, eliciting a soft erotic sound from the woman writhing against me with abandon. The soft pitch sound shot straight to my cock causing it to throb harder. My hips shot forward, thrusting against her centre in a bid for some relieve. I kissed her harder, losing all train of reasoning, with only one thought in my mind fucking the woman before me against the wall. I felt her slender hands on my chest pushing, but the motion took more than a second to register through my lust fogged up drain. It only occurred to me that Kamaria and I are no longer on the same page when she roughly snatched her lip

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter 118: I should resist, I know

KAMARIA POV Is been three days since we arrived in London for my wedding. Daddy couldn’t come because of his old bones as he said it, but I think it is his excuse not to admit that he is scared of flying. He was happy for me though and gave me his blessings. Here we are in one of London’s pub on the eve of my wedding having a night out. It is just me and my two best friends. I have done my best to present a brave front to them, to mask my real feelings. I am not regretting saying yes to Reign, he is a good man and will certainly make a great husband, and father. But my heart yearns for another, and for that I can’t help the sadness that creeps into my soul now and then. “To Kamaria, and finally getting the happiness she deserves!” Bobby yelled with a wide grin on his face. He is another great supporter of this marriage. Jonathan is on the fence. I believe he will prefer that I be with Damien, even though he hasn’t said that loud. Unfortunately I can’t. He chose her again. I stifl

DAMIEN POV “Hey man! What is with the shit look on your face?”Max asked as he took the seat on the other side of the table. I called him out for lunch because…well I needed the company. These days it feels as if I am loosing control of everything in my life. “It is over between Kamaria and I and she is getting married?” I answered with a low sarcastic chuckle, but inside I was in pain. “What!” Max gasped staring wide at me. “Yeah, man, I lifted my coffee cup to my lips and took a sip. The hot liquid did nothing for the sadness I was feeling inside. Maybe I should have ordered something stronger. “What happened?” I hesitated to answer when the young waiter appeared beside our table to take his lunch order. Alone again, I spoke. “I think she is in love with her boss.”“You don’t believe that,” Max said causally. I didn’t say anything cause I don’t know what to believe anymore. Why is she marrying him? Is it just to get back at me for not divorcing Lily. I thought she of all peop

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter 116: A painful decision

KAMARIA POV Earlier today when Reign came around he had asked me to marry him. His proposal though a shock wasn’t out of the blue proposal for him. He gave his reasons at the same time pointed out that there was no future with Damien, not with Lily around. I didn’t want to believe him and wasn’t keen on accepting his proposal no matter how much his reasons made sense so I sent him away with the words that I would think about it. After Reign left I wanted to call Damien, needed to hear him say it. When Damien landed in front of my door without me having to call him, I was filled with so much joy and also dread. Joy at the sight of the man I love, and dread that it might not be enough. Looks like I was right to fear. What hurts most is that he is choosing her all over again. Yes, he makes it all about his kid, and I could understand a little from his point of view. After losing Davina, Lily is another chance for him to have a kid. I know what he felt in the past about kids, but that

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter 115: It is over

DAMIEN POVThings have gotten downright hostile between Lily and I. My home now feels like a war zone with no day passing without us getting into an argument. There is nothing I do that she doesn’t find fault in. Despite the sacrifice I was making for her by staying away from Kamaria out of respect for her and because she was carrying my child there was no pleasing her. I miss Kamaria so bad that my chest hurts. I have been to see her a few times since she was discharged but those times someone is always there with her that we haven’t had time to speak alone. I couldn’t help but worry about what she is thinking. Does she still love me, or does she believe that I will abandon her now that Lily is back. Lily being back makes no difference to how I feel about Kamaria and I think is high time I made her understand that. Jonathan was gracious enough to keep me informed with what is going on with her and that is how I learned that she has moved from her previous apartment to a new one an

  • LOVE BY CONTRACT    Chapter 114: Dealing with a lot

KAMARIA POV I had believed him long gone. The last time we spoke things hadn’t exactly ended well. It wasn’t just his presence that had me short of words but his appearance too. I couldn’t believe the man I was looking at is my boss. Where did the rest of him go?“Hi,” he said a little awkwardly from the door way. “Hi,” I replied softly. What I wanted most was to say sorry for hurting him as that hadn’t been my intention and the other thing is to find out what is really going on. This time the truth. He closed the distance between us and sat down on the chair my dad vacated. “How are you feeling?” He enquired staring at my face intently as if to spot a lie when I tell it. I didn’t. “Tired, and sad,” I said softly. He nodded in understanding and then looked away as if he couldn’t bear to look at me. And then he shocked me when tears ran down his face. “What is wrong Reign?” I asked a little bit alarmed. “Are you okay?”He shook his head like the words felt heavy in his mouth and t
