She shivered involuntarily, she hasn't the energy for one of his many elaborate, usually 'woefully failing' tricks. Staring at him dead in the eye, not daring to blink, she gave him a 'if you fuck me up, you are dead' look.
"Calm down Jae Hwa, so scary. It's not like am going to eat you up~wink" Min Jun teased getting on her nerves.
"Besides it's a great idea. Tell me have I ever put you in danger before?"
"I don't know...only like a thousand times."
He gulped audibly.
"Well this time's different, I promise." He reassured her.
She sighed, there was no escaping from this lunatic.
"Let's hear it."
"I…" He started.
"No, no, no. First get the hell out of my face, you stink...ugh…I don't think I can bear it anymore" She exaggerated, slightly. He did stink pretty bad.
"Alexa, turn on the water heater. Someone here really needs a bath."
'Turning on the water heater' A mechanical voice rang through the room.
Min Jun backed up a little, just enough to leave Jin Hwa no chance of escape, as she usually does.
"So you know the new project I've been working on, the one that literally takes up all my time."
Looking at Min Jun state right now one would mistake him for a street rat rather than the second most sought movie director in all of korea. He had a knack for creativity and leadership since infancy, and has worked himself up from a baseless dream to one of the best today.
He was the kind of person that would rather do things himself and be sure of the outcome than depend on an assistant. That philosophy has gotten through the very harsh, dog bite dog, entertainment circle. As carefree and frisky as he could be, he was also very calculative, cunning and absolutely ruthlessly to his counterparts. He could take the personality of a cold mafia boss and a harmless pretty little flower at will without breaking a sweat.
For an extremely busy man juggling work and private life was a major chore. Going places, traveling up to 15 times per month any human was sure to break at some point. He always had Jae Hwa to vent on at this little base of his when he was less busy.
"Yes, directing a reality TV show, yada yada, what about it?"
"All the other contestants were chosen from many others from merit and the last ~ a female, is to be chosen at random to add a twist to make things more interesting. There could even be a few more "twists" along the way."
"Well, I've been worked up on looking for the perfect last female contestant, all I've found are either too busy to be in a show or too demanding. It's been hell these past few months."
"And?..." Jae Hwa replied, with a hint of disapproval in her voice, she didn't like where this was going.
"I could really use a breather at the moment. The spoilt pompous girls I have to visit and pacify politely everyday, don't cut it anymore." He continued ignoring how drastically Jae Hwa's demeanor had changed.
"Oh no don't tell me…"
"Would you be the last contestant?. Please please, pretty please, I'm on the verge of collapsing from the stress." Min Jun begged in a serious tone, he really looked weary these past few weeks.
"I...I don't know. TV shows are full of drama and scheming bitches. I don't need such energy in my life right now." Jwa Hwa answered as she weighed her options, leaning more on a negative reply.
"Besides," She shuddered as the next words escaped her lips "It's a romance/dating themed show. I'm not ready to dive into any relationship right now, single Jae Hwa is much happier."
"Common hamster, what do you mean by 'not ready to dive into any relationship' it's been well over two years since your last relationship, I'm pretty sure I'm ready to share hamsters attention with a new heartmate you have my blessings" He replied making light of the situation.
She smiled evilly, this little bastard. What does he mean by he is ready to share her attention with another person?. How does she being ready for a relationship have to do with him and since when did she need his blessings? Uwu, 'I've been petting this boy a little much these days, he can spout such nonsense, I should have never let him know my weakness for cute things.'
"But I only want Big brother Min Jun in my heart right now, my heart is too little to hold another person. If you have a heartmate *cringe* this Junior's heart would certainly break, we won't want to be careless." She replied using his own logic as a counter attack
Min Jun looked at her blewithered, his little hamster had defeated him at his own game, but he wasn't giving up yet.
"I thought Jae Hwa's heart was made of rubber. If …"
"Min Jun!!!"
"What?"
"Let it go." Translate ~ Let me have this win, god damnit. She mused, naughtily.
"Oh common," He rolled his eyes,"Even if you aren't going there for a love choice, you should treat yourself to some fun, meet new people, have girlfriends the sorts. You and I have been completely immersed in our careers. Just a change of environment with more living beings."
"You stay in too much, when you aren't at work or working out, all you do is cuddle up in your mattress and binge watch Netflix or read books that I know are too boring to be given a second glance. We both know you have enough money for a 3 year streak vacation without going broke."
He looked really worried about Jae Hwa shielding herself from the world, it hasn't been like this since two years ago. What changed. She had always been an outgoing and fun loving person, she still was, but it was limited to him and very close friends. Such a change didn't seem healthy.
"I already got drained from hearing you say 'meet new people' you know my social battery runs down pretty fast, imagine how exhausting it would be smiling to arrogant comments, just to keep a good rep on camera. I have really low tolerance for bitches and bedazzled fuck boys" She replied sincerely.
Min Jin stared at Jin Hwa a bit, his little hamster had started growing claws, he didn't like it one bit. He won't allow anyone bully her, "Calm down. Don't stress, leave the cursing to me, such vulgar words don't belong in your mouth" He tapped her head affectionately.
'Does he think I'm so innocent?' Jae Hwa thought.
"You need a break, hamster. And you know I'm right."
"Don't you get tired of telling people how to live their lives?" He added scartistically.
Jae Hwa studied psychology with first class honours , a true model student, but had settled down to be a life coach. The pay wasn't in any way worth her certificate and hard work but she was satisfied with it. She only wanted a comfortable and peaceful life...at least for now.
"I'm sorry Min Jun, I want to help, I really do, but this….it's just too much to ask." Jae Hwa answered assertively.
"Is it because of him?" He asked, his tone turning cold drastically.
"What..what are you talking about?" She answered genuinely confused.
"It's because of that bastard, isn't it?" He replied, his voice even colder.
"Ever since you broke up with him you have become a shadow of yourself Jae Hwa!. I've told you countless times it's not worth brooding over it, you are a million times better than that skank. So what if he was your first love, just say your name and there are millions of much more eligible men waiting in line to get a single 'hello' from you, after all you are the daughter of…"
"Stop it Min Jun I get it!!!" She yelled in anger, he had crossed the line there.
He stopped speaking but his expression didn't look repentant at all, in fact it still had a lot to say.
"You are right, maybe I haven't gotten over him yet, maybe I never will but this isn't about him but you've overstepped. It's my decision I don't need you worrying about me nor do I need you bringing up my f*cking parents, OKAY!!!"
Jae Hwa had been in a fantasy perfect type of relationship since her last years in med school. Hoseok, her ex boyfriend was everything and anything she could ask for in a partner. Considerate, ambitious, handsome, romantic,~ she could write a whole novel simping him. As they say good things don't last long, this one wasn't an exception. He had woken up and out of the blue asked for a breakup.
It took very long minutes of crying and begging to get him to tell why he would want that. And his answer…. He couldn't bear her mood swings any longer. Mood swings? FUCKING MOOD SWINGS!!!! He broke up with her just because he couldn't bear her mood swings? Wasn't it better to leave without saying anything than spout such a lame excuses. Since when did mood swings break relationships, weren't healthy human beings bound to have mood swings at some point in their life!.
Not sparing her another word he left, turning a deaf ear to get cries and pleas. For the next few weeks she had been out of sorts and had to quit work for a while, wallowing in her own filth. It took several pleas and convincing words to stop Min Jun from killing him personally for hurting his hamster so much.
Since then she built a wall around herself, living in her own shell and focused on her career leaving zero room for any love interests, even having a crush was and still is a luxury.
She didn't want to indulge herself in any emotional scam. She wasn't as strong as Min Jun who walked in and out of relationships like a breeze. Even now that he seemed a bit out of place she was very sure that he would be up and going the next day without traces of anything major ever happening in his demeanor.
Such emotional strength... that was what she lacked and there was no way someone like her would be fitting for such a program.
"Look I'm sorry, I might not have said it in the best way possible but it's the truth. Maybe this is exactly what you need to get over that scumbag and get out there."
Maybe he was right, she shouldn't shut herself from that world just because one jerk toiled with her feelings. That was when it started sounding ridiculous to her, she had really wasted two good years mourning over her loss. Who knew if that son of a b*tch was with another woman while she cried over him? Did he even deserve her tears?. Right then and there all the feeling for Hoseok quenched.
"How do we go about it?" She asked, suddenly having interest in participating.
"Well you could decide to just become cannon fodder and get eliminated at the first round fulfilling your purpose by reducing my workload. Or you could go there and own it building yourself up to get a lot stronger emotionally."
"Did I mention the prize money for the winner is up to a million United States dollars?
Jae Hwa's eyes lit up, a million dollars was a lot of money just what she needed in her life to take a step further into her career and life goals.
"You should have said that earlier then we wouldn't have to go through all these struggles. I'd consider your offer" She squeezed his ear lightly as punishment.
"Ow!!!,How could I have known you loved Money so much enough to change your heart so quickly?"
"Hmmph, I've been wronged." He added looking away from Jae He's with his nose in the air.
"Okay, I'm sorry"
"Hamster is the best!. Promise to sleep over it, literally, I need an answer tomorrow, the competition starts in two weeks, otherwise I might just pick the most bearable lady from my list."
"Yeah yeah, now go take a bath" She dragged him towards the stairs.
"Can I use your bubble gum shampoo?" Min Jun asked with the most adorable puppy eyes.
"No"
Jae Hwa answered, triggered. Min Jun had a habit of stealing her shampoo and bath bombs amongst many others using almost half the content in one bath!. Those damn things were just too precious and expensive to be wasted in such a way.
"Please hamster, I'd take out the trash." He negotiated looking even more adorable.
"Fine."
"Aiyyaa!, hamster is so generous today." He yelled grinning like a child and ran up to take a bath.
It wasn't like he was gonna listen if she refused anyway. Boohoo, it was hard living with a roommate who steals all your stuff and you can't do anything because they are just so adorable.
Jae Hwa sat on the as she scooped up the now soft serve ice cream. Should she consider contesting on "KOREA'S MOST ELIGIBLE?"...
Jae Hwa had spent the entire night, contemplating her next move. Her decision over Min Jun's offer could more or less add meaning to her life story. But she wasn't willing… she wasn't prepared to let her heart open for any romance at the same time she needed some seasoning in her life, and of course the prize money too.'Maybe I might just like it there.'She thought, trying to find reasons to accept his proposal.Like hell she is!!!It was one thing to compete with pretentious individuals and it was another for the camera to always be up in your face watching your every move. Zooming in occasionally, patiently waiting to catch the moment you slip from your collectiveness even in the slightest. An introvert like Jae Hwa didn't like the idea at all, but then the benefits were too good to overlook.'Ahhh, what do I do!!!' She screams internally, rolling side to side on her bed.
"I need you to be Hamster's anonymous external manager." He stated quite plainly."Manager? Won't she get one over there?" Kiara asked, a bit confused."She will, but that's different. Your job is to take care of her fanbase, and her new social media accounts" Min Jun replied, handing her a new phone."Those are the accounts on the tabs, and this is the password, you can change it if you want to. In summary, you are in charge of marketing Hamster over here, riling up the internet to love her. You are to sell her concept in such a way that it's both dramatic and reasonable. Hamster can't do that herself because electronic devices aren't allowed.""I see" Kiara looked through Jae Hwa's profile. Min Jun had filled in her details flawlessly, down to the kind of profile picture Jae Hwa was bound to put, breathtaking nature images."I'm trusting this to you, because you are the only on
"W-what are you implying Miss Yoo?" He replied flustered.Jae Hwa facepalmed herself mentally, she had been careless to let her guard down so easily, forgetting that she was out of the safe zone, the harbour. From the minimalist dress and absent attendant to the breakfast table, each one was a test of temper. She had noticed the peculiar timing of the escort reaching out to her, just when he just finished dressing up, in all smiles. With her keen sight and sharp observatory senses, she had noticed that he was wired and had complimented his outfit. Heading back to put on accessories, she surveyed the room and found out that in fact there were cameras there too. Being let out for brunch, she has noticed smaller carefully hidden cameras too, if she wasn't intentionally searching for them she wasn't sure if she would be able to detect them.Neither having a makeup artist nor a fashion stylist any other celebrity was bound to
Jea Hwa's POVI felt sick. The kind of longing sickness you feel when you try and think you have gotten over an addictive substance, then all of a sudden it is presented to you on a platter again. My stomach churned and danced about. The butterflies fitted horribly with the punch I gulped down giving me an uneasy feeling. That cologne...he never changed it. His smell, voice, temper, clothing style everything remained just as it was two years ago.Behind the mask was the person I hated and also loved the most. The only person who could stir up my emotions so badly. I sat still not daring speak, hyperventilating was the only was to stop me from running up to him crying, giving long heartfelt speeches or doing anything stupid."Um miss…" He spoke, uncomfortable with my silence.I snapped out of it having a sharp breath intake. Counting sheep mentally as I cooked down, that seemed to work. If I don't be
Duck and look away! That was the first thought that came into Jea Hwa's mind. But not this time, not any more. She couldn't run away from her past as it always caught up with her somehow, besides, there was no way they weren't going to bump into each other in the house as the show went on. I stared back at him for a bit, almost making it a glare-off, she smiled sweetly, earning a more confused look on the recipient before she focussed on Junsuh who was about to make an announcement. "Attention contestants, all eyes on me now" He called to those chatting away. "Now that the elimination's over a welcome party would be held later in the evening to celebrate the season's openings." "In the meantime you would be called for your very first lounge session, which you would be spilling things only you the audience would now... anything at all
Jea Hwa's POVMOMENTS BEFOREPhone Call~"Of course I didn't know he was a part of the competition. It was a last-minute addition" Cara seethed.[R for the recipient on the other end of the call]R- "Cara I had only put you to replace me on this Job because I trusted you. You should know I don't entertain excuses, this you have said is an excuse.""Yes, you might have referred me, but it's my job now and I would appreciate it if you don't trouble me on that basis or I might just end this call." Cara reminded.R- "I see. I apologise for being insensitive, but you don't know how much damage that contestant could cause to Jea Hwa. It could sabotageCara had a meaningful look on her face as her pouty lips moved
JAE HWA'S POVMAKEUP/WARDROBE THEATREI walked in with shorts over the lower piece of my bikini."What's up bitches!" Effie yelled, making an entrance."Wazzup! You are such a vibe, Effie! I didn't expect to meet you so soon after our talk at the hall." Yuna acknowledged."My face is going to be so close to the camera tonight!"Nari Screamed, "Couldn't you make the makeup less cakey!""But you said I had done it too light before." Glam panicked.
HOSEOK'S POVI stood in the company of Luna with only one goal in mind; finding Jae Hwa and actually getting to talk to her again.Nari had sabotaged my moves earlier, I hadn't known she was on the same show, ye didn't tell anyone back at the office so I had gotten distracted by her presence.I knew the woman in the white mask behaved too strangely. Did it mean she had recognised me all along and had chosen to ignore me instead?I smiled at my plight. Not this time! I wasn't going to let her slip through my grasp again, I needed to talk to her.I surveyed the room once more.My eyes caught her figure in a short red Sequin dress. It was difficult to miss such an entrance that sent out sparks of confidence and sexiness. All eyes were on her, although she didn't seem to notice as she seemed to be busy marking out the locations of the desert. She still had
