Konstantin
Kai called me late afternoon the following day to let me know that the witches had arrived at the estate and I needed to get my ass over there. Cat is there as well; she wouldn’t stay put no matter how Kai ordered her to.
Sounds like Cat, ha.
The anticipation is at a dangerous level inside of me; I need to know what we can do to eliminate the obstacle in front of us. Everything rides on this weapon, and my instincts tell me it needs to be done no matter what.
I stop my motorcycle in front of the mansion and run inside, catching the faint whiff of blood - the usual scent of these witches from Norway. They’ve dabbled in such dark magic that their entire aura is tainted blood red with the same smell as a fresh kill. Kai hates them but knows he needs them.
When she sees me enter the living room, Marle turns her head, and so does Kai and Cat. “Brother,” he greets me with a nod and beckons me over.
Konstantin When Kai and I parked our motorcycles outside Fang, we already had our shit figured out. Of course, this plan heavily depends on where Stefan is located because as much as he doesn’t want to admit it, Kai is out for blood. The fucker might have taken Nikolai, and from what Nova has told us, our little brother is still alive. That in itself is enough to drive Kai to a massacre. “Everyone’s here,” Kai says when we step inside the bar, and I can see what he means. We closed the club for tonight, so we all could meet and plan out our attack for tomorrow. The scents in here would have knocked your average wolf to the ground in submission, but no one is backing down, not even Zephyr. Gathered were Dimitri and Zephyr from our pack; they were behind the bar, watching everyone. Cain, who did not look happy at all, with his two Betas sitting on my stage, and last but not least, three members from Hellfire Horsemen witho
LilyMy head is killing me, and the sunlight peeking through the window is not helping. I sit up and notice that I have been moved yet again, and this time Stefan has me shackled to the bed. I don’t know how long I’ve been knocked out; all I can remember is that when my supposed ‘mother’ returned, she injected me with something.I guess she knew that I suspected her.I don’t know what Stefan has planned this time around, but my heart won’t stop thundering, and from the movement of the babies, they must feel it as well.I hear footsteps at the door and expect Stefan to walk in, but instead, voices get carried through the door. Did they think I’m still knocked out?“... this better be the truth,” Stefan says, the anger in his voice making me lay down and clamp my eyes shut.“Have I ever lied to you?”The second voice made me sit up so fast that I sa
KonstantinI file into my penthouse, and everyone follows suit. “There are empty rooms downstairs, food and beer in the refrigerator and hard liquor in the cellar; make yourselves at home, but just don’t break my shit,” I tell the Rogues and Zephyr while walking towards the kitchen.Fucking starved, I headed home and invited them all over to stay here before we leave for Brooklyn tomorrow. I haven’t been able to eat much the past few weeks, but now that I know we have a chance to get Lily back tomorrow, I am ravenous.“Where’s Dimitri?” Cain asks and gestures for a beer from the fridge when he sits down at the kitchen island.“He went with Kai to the estate; the witches want to put a 48-hour binding spell on his beast until they can figure out why he can’t control it yet,” I say, taking a seat opposite him after ordering takeout. “Hope you guys like pizza.”Cai
KonstantinSince we arrived a few minutes ago, something has felt off, and it’s not the dagger taking occupancy in my holster.“Did you guys take out all the men already?” I mutter as we make our way onto the property after searching. We are currently crouched down at the northern entrance and have not seen a soul.Kai and I have known the layout since we killed Cat’s family last time. Stefan had men on constant patrol at his villa in Jersey, so where were they now?“No, it was like this when we arrived two hours ago; no movement from inside,” Ryker replies from the south entrance.“Same thing on the west and east entrances, as well as the woods behind the estate,” Cain says. “We’ve searched the place twice, not a soul or scent out of place.”I look at Kai, not liking this one bit. “It’s way too fucking quiet here,” I say, and he nods.
KonstantinRage gripped my heart when I saw her tied to a black altar, like some sort of sacrificial lamb. Kai got Nikolai down from the chains holding him and the Rogues have Stefan up against the wall, waiting for me to kill him.“Are you okay?” I hear Kai whisper to Nikolai, who nods and starts to talk to Kai about something that I tune out. There’s a reason for the whispering, and I won’t intrude.Lily smiles and nods when I tell her what I’m about to do, and my heart just about bursts out of my chest. I never thought I would see her smile at me like this ever again and my wolf just about howled because of it.We did it; we saved my mate, and our little brother is still alive. Stefan will pay for this with his fucking life, and I will make sure his reign of terror ends tonight.I kiss her forehead again and walk over to where the Rogues have the fucker pinned to the wall and remove the dagger from
Konstantin“Brother…” I trail off, taking a cautious step towards Kai, whose scent is unreadable. He’s holding Cat closely, her body all but healed from giving birth. She’s staring straight ahead,“Kai, what-”“He took my baby. After injecting everyone with something, he ripped my child from my hands and walked out.” Cat says, continuing to stare at nothing. “The traitor has been Dimitri all along.”“Who says I’m sane? I’m just good at acting; a smiling viper with nothing to worry about.”Dimitri’s words echo through my head as my heart shatters and a blinding pain hits my chest, doubling me over. The witches awaken and scream, feeling the exact same pain as I did. I look up at Kai, his stony face giving nothing away - no emotion on his face even as Dimitri rejects our pack.Zephyr and Nova stir as well, slowly get
Konstantin Kai pulls me out of the bedroom and looks at me with wide eyes. “What the fuck does this mean?” He asks me as if I have the fucking answer right now. “It means that even the demonic child is a Volkov, and we cannot exchange one for the other. No matter how we look at it, that child is family.” Cat says and comes up behind us. She looks at Kai and sighs. “This won’t end well.” Kai growls and punches the wall next to me. “What the fuck are we going to do now?!” Marle walks out and looks at the three of us.“They can’t kill your child; it’s their bargaining chip. I need to get in contact with Morganna to find out exactly what they’re planning. Give me a few minutes.” She says, then touches my arm. “Lilith is waiting for you.” I look up at Kai and Cat when she says this, guilt creeping into my heart at the fact that I can experience this with Lily while they can’t. What do I do or say to my brother in this si
Konstantin“Any news?” I ask as I step into the living room where Kai, Cat, Nikolai and Marle are seated. Kai was now dressed in black cargo pants and no shirt, and Cat changed out of her bloody dress. The witch looks at me and nods. “Morganna wants to trade Kai’s child for the one housing the entity.” She says, confirming Cat’s earlier assumption.“We don’t expect you to do this, Kon, so we won’t even ask it of you,” Kai says, then gets up and walks towards me. “We’ll find another way to get my child back.”I shake my head. “What if there is no other way, Kai? I don’t want your firstborn to die on account of me!”What the fuck are we going to do?! We can’t leave his child in the hands of the enemy, and we can’t trade my daughter either. We’re literal sitting ducks right fucking now!“There’s still tr
Nikolai I know I shouldn’t be here again, I know I should head home and resume the mission Kai has sent me on, but I can’t help it. The pull is too strong; HER pull is too strong. I should probably just reject her for real this time and get on with my life, but staring at temptation for so long only makes me want it more. It’s been nearly four years since I spoke with Nova, four years since I caught her scent and promised to win her over again… and four years since I’ve done jack shit about it. But it’s not because I don’t want to, fuck no. We’re at war with two other packs, and there is so much death surrounding us now. I don’t want to drag Nova into the middle of this; I don’t want her to be caught in the crossfire. So I’ve resigned myself to coming to this seedy bar the Rogue Alpha owns, the bar she works in so that I can watch her from afar. I never approach her, never stare too long to catch anyone’s attention, and I do not r
Konstantin I didn’t mention to Dimitri how pissed off Kai sounded over the mind link, and his urgent tone is making me haul ass towards his club. I mean, I’m glad for the separation from Dimitri and his depressive funk, but if something got Kai pissed off, I would rather deal with the sad brother than the angry one. It’s 9 pm, usually the best time to keep the clubs open, but as I round the corner into Billionaire’s Row, I see no cars or people - it is empty. “What the fuck?” Dimitri asks as he unclasps his seatbelt and looks around. “Where the fuck is everybody?” I’m feeling just as fucking confused, especially when we get closer to The Slip, and I see Kai standing outside with Nikolai next to him. They turn their heads when they see our approach and when we get out of the SUV, they walk toward us. “What’s going on?” I ask with a frown, and my confusion deepens when I see Kai’s double irises on display and the absolute fucking anger in his scent. Something has pissed him off so
KonstantinI walk into The Slip the following day and head towards Kai’s office. He hasn’t done many changes to this club since Vanya left except bump up the security detail around the girls. Human patrons won’t be able to tell the difference, but all the bartenders and a few random ‘patrons’ inside the club are Enforcers. When I enter the office, my brother looks up, and I spot Marle standing off to the side with her arms crossed. Even I can tell that she’s exhausted; oh well, all in a day’s work for a BloodCrest witch.“Okay, since we’re all here, you might as well start, Marle,”She exhales and launches into a plan for the pack and its safety. This requires her doing a mass check of every pack member for foreign entities, securing their minds against hexes and then strengthening the borders of the estate. We’re not taking any chances now that we know our father has been
Hello, readers! I hope you guys have enjoyed reading Konstantin's exploits as much as I loved writing about them! Unfortunately, this book will be coming to a close within the next two days, so I would like some feedback from you! Which story would you like to see next? Dimitri or Nikolai? I'm looking forward to hearing back from you lovely readers and Bren* thank you for following my story even though Caterina made you want to slap her through the screen while reading Alpha Kai :P I appreciate all of you, you have no idea how much your little notes and comments encouraged me. Until the next book! xxx
Konstantin“So as long as the Teardrop stays in the vault, no one will be able to get to it, right?” I ask, and Marle nods.“As long as that happens, then all is well,” Marle says, then turns to Kai. “You and Caterina cannot allow anyone to sway you to enter with bad intentions, or the spell on the vault will banish you from it. Xamnir had me put that powerful spell on that vault when we first came to the States, and I’ll have you know that my spells pack a punch.”We were standing in the living room waiting for Dimitri while speaking about what to do next. So Alpha Azura’s predecessors stole the fake Obsidian Teardrop for some reason, but the real one is still in the vaults.“Why would the Nightshade Maidens steal the Teardrop? Not just that, but how did they even know about it?” I voice my thoughts out loud, but Marle chuckles.“Because their Alpha took offen
KonstantinWhen I know Lily’s in a deep sleep, I slink out of bed, get dressed and meet Kai downstairs. He got a call from Dimitri a few minutes ago saying he remembered something and couldn’t tell us over the phone.I walk out, see Kai waiting next to his Maserati, and we hop inside. “Any idea what he could have seen?” I ask, and Kai shakes his head.“Not at all, but he sounded freaked out over the phone, so it can’t be good,” He says as we leave the estate.“Always something,” I mutter and breathe out a sigh.Lily and I just had the best make-up sex, and now I have to leave her side. Things between us aren’t 100% cleared up yet, but the fact that we spoke about things is the first step. Marle’s interference in her mind and recovery helped a lot, too; I could see the self-confidence in her eyes again. That sexy confidence always got my cock hard whenever we us
Lily“Let’s get them inside,” Konstantin says when he leans down next to me and picks up Kaia. I blink at this, then scoop Luca up in my arms and follow him in.I haven’t seen or heard from him all day, so this is a bit of a surprise for me. Wasn’t he still angry at me for what I did?We lay the twins down in their separate cribs and stood there just staring at them for a few minutes. The fact that they won’t be plagued with their demonic side lifted a massive weight from my shoulders, especially for Kaia and her future. At least they’ll live normal lives, well as normal as it can be for a werewolf. But not only that, I feel… lighter? My mind seems clearer than it has before, and as I peek inside my subconscious, I can see Gypsy lounging happily. Taking a deep breath, I decide to take advantage of my state of mind - it’s now or never.“I spent the entire afternoon rehears
Konstantin“Out of everyone to come back from the dead, why couldn’t it fucking be Viktor?” I ask as I follow my brothers out of Fang.Kai chuckles. “I think I would have preferred that; however, I would prefer the dead to stay dead.” He says and walks towards his SUV. “It’s nearing 7; we should head back to the estate.”I thumb at Dimitri. “I’ll take him back to the penthouse,” I say, nodding at Kai, who screeches out of the parking lot soon after. So, our father is alive after all this time and has plotted for years to get where he is now. To find out that he’s been against us all this time hurts like hell; I don’t think I’ll ever understand those who betray others. Yeah, he was from an unknown wolf family and had to take my mother’s last time because of the power it held, but surely he could not have been offended over something as trivial a
LilyI had never seen Konstantin as upset as he was when he stormed out of the mansion. Not even when I fucked up a major order in my first few months with him. He’s angry with me, but I didn’t expect him to be this hurt. How stupid am I?! Of course, Konstantin would have understood what I went through last night, so what the fuck made me think he would hate me?!/“I told you,”/ comes that voice again and immediately, my question was answered.Sighing, I walk upstairs to our bedroom to wait until we have to leave for the ritual. If the childminders are the guilty ones, then I will not be going in to work today; surely Kai will understand my decision. In any case, I called my second to let him know to handle things for tonight. What is going to happen now? I’ve just broken my mate as well as my Alpha’s trust in me by thinking I could solve my problems on my own. I know I need
