ZEUS
Without a word, he turned and started walking deeper into the woods, his broad shoulders cutting a path through the greenery.
“Hey, where are you going?” I called after him, frowning. My voice sounded more uncertain than I liked.
He didn’t answer. Instead, his stride remained steady, and for reasons I couldn’t quite explain, I found myself following him. My feet moved almost on their own, driven by a mix of curiosity, defiance, and a strange feeling that I could not explain. He glanced back at me once as I followed him.
As we emerged from the dense woods, my jaw dropped at the sight before me. A sprawling river stretched out ahead, its waters shimmering under the sunlight. It was so clear that I could see the smooth pebbles beneath the surface, their colors muted yet beautiful through the gentle ripples.
“Wow!” I blurted out, unable to contain my excitement. My feet moved before my brain could catch up, carrying me past the Alpha as I sprinted toward the riverbank.
The cool breeze danced on my face as I knelt by the edge of the water. Leaning in, I touched the surface, marveling at the cold, refreshing feel. It was flowing water, crisp and pure, and I could tell just by looking that it was safe to drink. But that could wait. I had a more pressing need… washing off the grime and sweat that had clung to me since this nightmare began. Thankfully there was a toilet in that shack so I had taken care of that business already.
Fumbling with the buttons of my shirt, I started undoing them quickly, eager to jump into the water and let it cleanse every bit of dirt from my skin. Just as I reached the last button, though, a shiver ran down my spine.
I froze, feeling the weight of a gaze. Slowly, I turned around, and sure enough, there he was. The Alpha. His piercing brown eyes were locked on me, unreadable yet unwavering.
My hand clenched at the fabric of my shirt, holding it closed. “Are you just going to stand there and watch me?” I demanded, my voice sharper than I intended, fueled by both embarrassment and irritation.
The corner of his mouth twitched upward, his smirk infuriatingly smug. “Do you think I’m like Lynn, someone who’d be lured by your body. A body clearly forced into shape to trap innocent women?”
I stiffened, my cheeks burning. “I never did any such thing!” I snapped back, though his words stung more than I cared to admit. It wasn’t like I spent hours in the gym for anyone’s benefit… okay, maybe to keep up with Damon’s annoyingly perfect abs, but that was more rivalry than vanity. Still, how could he possibly know that maintaining this build hadn’t exactly been my passion project?
“You have ten minutes,” he declared, cutting through my thoughts like a blade.
“Ten? That’s not enough!” I protested.
“Nine,” he said flatly, his tone leaving no room for argument.
I scowled, my lips twitching with disbelief. He was impossible. Turning away, I quickly resumed unbuttoning my shirt. But as I slipped it off my shoulders, my movements slowed. I could still feel his gaze, heavy and sharp, like he was studying me. It wasn’t like I’d never stripped in front of anyone before, but something about him watching made my heart pound harder than it should. Especially when I felt his every gaze grazed my skin.
Why am I so self conscious about this? I wondered, biting the inside of my cheek as I glanced over my shoulder. Our eyes met briefly, and the intensity in his stare sent an unexplainable feeling to my heart. I looked away, shaking it off. He was just a man like me. There was no reason for my chest to tighten like this. We both were men.
Unaware of my inner turmoil, the Alpha stood behind me, his eyes trailing over the curve of my back and the smooth expanse of my skin as my shirt slipped further down. His gaze darkened when the hem of my pants slid lower, revealing long legs and hips that he wouldn’t have expected from someone so annoyingly defiant.
The Alpha held his breath. Something inside him stirred… a strange pull that made his wolf pace restlessly.
But when I finally turned to look again, he was gone.
I blinked in surprise, scanning the area. “Where did he go?” I muttered under my breath, half-relieved, half-restless, though I refused to examine the latter feeling too closely.
Shaking off the odd mix of emotions, I focused back on the river. Without a change of clothes, I couldn’t afford to get my current ones wet, which meant...
My gaze darted around once more, ensuring I was alone. When I was certain no one was watching, I hooked my fingers under the elastic of my waistband. My breath hitched as I began sliding it down.
“You wanna show off that much?”
The deep voice whispered directly into my ear, and I froze. A rush of heat washed over me as I felt the Alpha’s breath against my skin, his hand suddenly resting lightly over mine.
He was right behind me.
“I… I didn’t mean to…” my voice barely above a whisper.
“It’s okay even if you did,” he murmured, his voice low and strangely soothing. His fingers slid over mine, pressing something cool and crinkly into my hand. A plastic bag. “As long as you don’t do it in front of other men,” he added.
ODINThe moment I pushed the door open, Cade’s scent hit me. A scent that was rarely sharpened by tension, layered with something close to unease. Giving me a hint as to why he suddenly asked for an audience though mind-link. He stood stiffly in the dim light, his eyes snapping in my direction the second I entered. Without a word, I moved around the desk and leaned back against it, folding my arms across my chest. “What’s the matter, Cade?” I asked, my tone low, measured, but edged with impatience. “Make it quick.”Cade’s jaw tightened as he straightened. “Alpha, on my way here, I found traces in the southeastern woods. Signs of a wolf.”I tilted my head slightly, amusement flickering at the corners of my lips. “A wolf?” I repeated, my voice laced with dark curiosity. “An intruder? In my territory?”It had to be like a joke. No one had dared to trespass here… not in decades. My land was protected by ironclad wards and fear. Even rogues gave it a wide berth. But Cade’s serious express
ZEUSThe river water was cool. It washed away the grime and sweat from my body, leaving me feeling lighter than I had since I first woke up in this gloomy forest. The bath was so good that it awakened my senses and lifted my spirits. After all, this was the best thing that happened to me after I had been kidnapped. After scrubbing myself clean, I washed my clothes. Once dressed in a loose T-shirt and a pair of soft, worn bottoms from the polythene bag, I began making my way back along the path I’d memorized earlier. The bag dangled from my hand, and my gaze fell on it with a mix of gratitude and suspicion. The Alpha.... my kidnapper, my tormentor, my... whatever he was—had supplied me with toiletries, clothes, and a towel. I hadn’t expected that. Hell, I’d half-expected him to leave me in an ongoing state of filth just to enjoy the sight of me suffering. But no. He’d gone out of his way to provide the necessities. The thought left a bitter taste in my mouth. Why? What could he po
ZEUSSomething about the man seemed off.His 5’10” lean figure was coated in dried mud and the clothes he was wearing seemed loose as if they were not his, rather he had stolen them from somewhere. But it wasn’t his unsettling appearance that made me uneasy. It was the suffocating air around him, an sinister force that seemed to press my mind in a negative way. Then there were his eyes… pale blue, predatory, and sharp as a blade. They pierced through me as if they were provoking me.The man’s voice, soft yet commanding, sliced through the gloomy stillness. “Come to me,” he said, his lips curling into a wide, unsettling smile.I raised an eyebrow at him, unsure whether to laugh or feel creeped out. “What?” I asked, taking a
ZEUS Could there be a road?I dared to dream, dared to believe that salvation was just a hundred meters away. Maybe, just maybe. I was closer to freedom than I thought.Without wasting another second, I broke into a run. The prospect of escape filled my veins with adrenaline. I had to run. I had to escape! But I only managed three steps before I completely froze in place, my breath hitching in my throat.A large shadow fell across the ground in front of me.Fuck!! My heart pounded violently, threatening to burst as I slowly lifted my eyes. And there he was—the wolf. The same massive, bloodthirsty beast, his red eyes gleaming with malicious glee. It stepped into view from the side confidently. I broke out into a cold sweat, my entire body trembling as I realized what had happened. He hadn’t given up before. He hadn’t retreated. He had been circling me, finding another way to corner me.And now, he had me.Those glowing red eyes seemed to mock me, filled with a cruel satisfaction tha
ODIN“Once mine, always mine.”That was the rule I lived by. Whether it was an inanimate object or a living thing, once it belonged to me, I’d never let it go. Not even its remains. The moment I lay my eyes on it, it would become my possession. Possession wasn’t just a claim; it was a declaration, a binding contract signed in the ink of my will. And right now, this six-foot-tall figure, trembling against my chest, was mine. Damon Darcy. My enemy. The man whose very name I couldn’t say without tasting venom. The one responsible for the greatest wound I’d ever suffered. I hated him with every fiber of my being, with a rage that burned hotter than the sun and colder than death.Yet here he was. In my arms.I wanted to destroy him, to strip him down to nothing until he couldn’t even imagine putting himself back together. Yet as his cold, shivering frame pressed against mine, a nagging voice inside me whispered something far more treacherous. Something I couldn’t name. Why did he feel so…
ZEUSThe piercing scream of a bat shattered the silence between us, snapping me out of the intense stare I was locked in with the Alpha. My head instinctively jerked upward in alarm. The forest around us had grown darker. Evening had already fallen. Wild animals were waking up. Their cries were just creepy in the stillness of night. Suddenly, the Alpha’s hand shifted from my waist to my wrist.. Instinctively, I glanced up at him, but the moment our eyes met, my breath caught. The warmth I’d seen before was gone, replaced by something dark and furious.Without a word, he yanked me forward, his pace insane as if he was flying in the air.“What the hell are you doing?!” I hissed, stumbling as I struggled to keep up..The sharp pain in my wrist made me wince, and I wriggled in protest. “Let go! You’re hurting me!” I yelled, anger and panic boiling over.He didn’t stop. He didn’t even glance in my direction.I stumbled along, cursing him under my breath, fighting against his strong grip. B
ODINStanding by the window, I took a long slow drag of my cigarette as I watched the sunrise bleed colors across the horizon. It was stunning, as usual. It was a reminder that life continued at its own pace, indifferent to my sleepless nights. Since Lynn’s death, sleep had become a distant memory. My eyes drifted, almost against my will, to the clearing where he lay curled up, tied but somehow managing to look absurdly comfortable. Damon. His lean figure was nestled by the chopped woodpile, his expression softened in sleep, though his brows furrowed every so often. His lips seemed soft, plump, and maddeningly inviting, would part to mutter curses at the mosquitoes circling him. For someone so terrified of being devoured by a wild animal, he was surprisingly unguarded. Carefree. And infuriatingly... alluring.I scowled, forcing my gaze away but finding it impossible to fully shake the image. So stupid and irritating, I muttered under my breath. The bastard was human trash—a liar, a m
ZeusI stared at the Alpha in complete disbelief, my brain trying to process his statement. Enemies with benefits? Was this some kind of joke?My mind flickered back to the last time I’d been with someone. A Brazilian beauty during a rare three-day break from work. It had been... fine, but forgettable. Sex had never been a big deal to me, just a minor distraction from my singular focus: money. One-night stands were the extent of my interest, and even then it was few and far between. But this? This was something else entirely. The offer was shocking enough, but coming from him, a self-proclaimed straight werewolf willing to make an exception for me was almost laughable. Then I caught the way he looked at me. I was some kind of filthy, desperate thing. A manwhore in his eyes.My jaw clenched tightly as my pride took a hit. “I’m not gay. And even if I were, you would be the last person I’d ever choose,” I spat, glaring into his cold eyes.He tilted his head lazily, his expression one of
Nephew? My mind raced. Was she Odin’s aunt? Aunt Jane, the one he had mentioned before?Straightening my posture, I met her glare head-on. “I didn’t seduce anyone.”Her eyes burned with fury. “If you didn’t seduce him, then you intentionally did all of this to ruin his life!”I arched a brow. “How exactly did I ruin his life?”“How dare you act innocent?!” she snapped. “Odin’s name is now attached to a human. Not only that, you’re a man! His future, his reputation, his standing with the Council, everything is at risk because of you. Do you even realize what kind of trouble you’ve brought upon him? The Council is holding a final meeting with him as we speak!”
DAMONI hated the rain. But on that day, in the middle of a downpour, a boy running barefoot across the street caught my eye.My car had broken down in an area of the slums, and while the driver worked on fixing it, I sat in the backseat, watching him. He was filthy, soaked to the bone, and clearly poor. Yet, he looked as casual as if it was another normal day.Standing under a makeshift shelter, he unwrapped a cheap piece of candy and popped it into his mouth. After gathering two bamboo sticks and a few bricks, he waded into a large, filthy puddle in the middle of the road. The water was thick with mud and waste, but he didn’t hesitate. He placed the bricks down, using them as stepping stones, and created a makeshift bridge.
ZEUSThe ground beneath me felt unsteady. My worst fear had been confirmed.“You knew,” I choked out, my fists clenching at my sides. “You knew about Odin…”A slow, cruel smirk curled his lips. “Of course, I did. And so did you.” His voice lowered, venom lacing every word. “Tell me, how could you let him touch you? Didn’t your skin crawl? Didn't you feel repulsed? You were forced, right? That beast forced you into those dirty acts, right?”“Once again you call them beasts?”Rage burned hot beneath my skin. My fingers trembled as I forced myself to meet his gaze. “If you hate werewolves so much—why did you make her fall for you? Why
ZEUS"Don't tell me he saw the love bites."I ran my hand over the back of my neck with one hand, feeling the faint sting where Odin's lips had been last night, as I sped down the road.Damon’s reaction haunted me. It wasn’t just his touch on my neck, it was the way he looked at me. Something in his eyes sent a chill crawling up my spine. My heart twisted with an emotion that I couldn’t place… and I hated it.Clenching the steering wheel tighter, I forced myself to focus and press down on the accelerator harder. The city blurred past as I made my way to Lucas’ office building. Entering the parking lot, I pulled into my usual spot, my pulse drumming in my ears.“Zeus!”
ODINThe baby's sharp, heart-wrenching cries pierced through the thick walls of the meeting room, pulling my focus away from the tedious discussion with the pack’s Elders. I had been handling critical decisions—territorial expansions, rogue incursions, and strengthening our defenses—but nothing held my attention the way her cries did.Without another word, I pushed back my chair and strode toward the baby’s room. The pack members fell silent, exchanging wary glances but knowing better than to question me.The sight that met me tightened something in my chest. My little princess—face flushed, tiny fists balled up—was wailing uncontrollably in the caretaker’s arms.“What’s wrong?” My voice came out harsher than I intended.
DAMONI stepped out of the car, my polished shoes striking against the marble floor as I strode toward the penthouse. My grip on the Warpath Technologies contract tightened, the smooth paper crinkling under my fingers. My mood? Foul.“So, the President of Warpath Technologies just… sent the signed contract instead of attending the meeting?” My voice was sharp as I flicked my gaze toward Victor, who scrambled to keep pace beside me.“Yes, Mr. Damon,” he confirmed, slightly lowering his head. “His secretary delivered it personally. She mentioned the President had to leave the country due to an urgent matter, so he won’t be attending.”A bitter scowl crossed my face. This contract, the one I’d fought tooth and nail for—was finally in m
ZEUSThe next day, I woke up earlier than usual. My nerves were already on edge, a mix of excitement and thrill twisting in my stomach. As I worked out, my eyes kept darting toward the clock.Odin was coming. After he left last night, Victor got a call from Warpath Technologies saying they wanted to sign the deal with Darcy Group. Which meant today… Odin and I were supposed to meet again. The thought alone sent a rush of energy through my veins, and I finished my morning routine in record time. But as I stepped out of the shower, something felt… off.Victor wasn’t here.He was always on time, never late, never absent. Yet, today of all days, there was no sign of him. I reached for m
ODIN“I love you,” I murmured, pressing my lips softly against Zeus’.“I love you too,” he whispered back, his kiss lingering, as if neither of us wanted to pull away.I gazed down at him, memorizing every inch of his face—the curve of his lips, the warmth in his hazel eyes. Mine. He was mine, and leaving him here, alone in Damon Darcy’s grasp, felt like carving off a piece out of my soul.A sharp knock on the door shattered the fragile moment.“Mr. Damon,” Victor’s voice came from the other side.Zeus lifted his head, meeting my gaze with a small, reassuring smile. “Go,” he mouthed, gently releasing my hand.
ZEUSNo wonder I hadn’t connected the dots. Warpath’s president—the elusive, shadowy figure no one seemed to have seen in person—was him.Odin must’ve caught the flicker of realization on my face because he stepped closer, his voice softening as he reached for my collar. “You look thinner,” he murmured, adjusting it with gentle fingers.I laughed under my breath, trying to shake off the tension. “Really?”“Zeus…”His voice sent a shiver through me. I still wasn’t used to him saying my real name, not like that.“Hm?” I couldn’t meet his gaze. If I did, I might lose what little resolve I had left. His hand slid down to mine, gripping it firmly. “Let’s go home
