She wasn't even close to Royce in the first place. Why would he accuse her of cheating?

Margot felt that she was being wronged.

She refused to dwell on it and closed her eyes to force herself to sleep.

Suddenly, the door to her room was pushed open.

Margot could make out a looming shadow from the dimmed wall lamps. The next thing she knew, she was covered entirely by the shadow.

She caught the scent of Curtis' unique cologne. That scent was supposed to give her a sense of security, but she suddenly felt uneasy.

She was afraid that his mood swings would make him push her away all of a sudden.

As such, Margot decided to push him away first before he could even do so.

"Margot…" Curtis sounded hoarse when he called her. He wanted to hug her.

Margot raised her hands to stop him.

Her voice was nasally when she said, "Don't touch me! I'm afraid of you now. Go away!"

She burrowed into the blanket and pulled it over to cover her head. She didn't want to look at him.
