Chapter 1299

"Did you do something that warrants punishing yourself so harshly? Be honest with me, you didn't get physically intimate with her, did you?" Margot questioned.

Curtis immediately raised his hand and swore, "I swear I didn't. She took off her clothes to try and seduce me, but I had the pepper spray that Gabriel gave me.

"When she got close to me, I sprayed her. She passed out within a couple of seconds, and then I left."

Margot was at a loss for words. She didn't know why, but all of a sudden, her heart felt heavy and sorrowful. She still felt a faint sense of pain.

Curtis worried she might overthink, quickly explained, "I even took my tie to cover my eyes at the time, so I really didn't see anything."

Margot still felt her chest being weighed down by a heavy weight and suffocation. She got up, walked to the bed, and without saying another word, slipped under the blanket.

"Margot…"

Curtis got up, walked over, sat down on the edge of the bed, and leaned over to hold her. "Can you
