"Don't let Mom and Margot know about this for now, and don't tell Curtis either. They'll be worried," Calvin reminded Natalie.

There was no time left. If he got there late, things might be bad over at Emeria.

Calvin patted Natalie on the shoulder, his eyes bloodshot. "Sorry for the trouble, darling."

With tears in her eyes, Natalie said, "You need to take care of yourself. Remember to rest, and don't be too pessimistic. A miracle might happen."

Although she was just trying to comfort herself and Calvin so that they would think more positively, it would at least give them hope to keep going.

"Yes, I will. Don't worry," Calvin replied.

He didn't have a minute to spare. While talking on the phone, he hurried out the door to go and catch his flight at the airport.

Natalie watched him leave through the door, standing at the entrance of the villa. She looked at the spot where the car had long disappeared, her eyes empty and lost in thought.
