[Seraphine's POV]

"You asked me to escape once again, while you're here struggling alone, isn't that right, Miss?" Jesse responded to my words with a harsh reality I couldn't deny.

I didn't expect that he still considered protecting me, even though he nearly died due to my mistake.

"Guarding Prince Cassian's fiancée is my duty. If someone should die here, then it should be me. And you're the one who should stay alive, and I must protect you even with my own life."

"Jesse ..." My thoughts were wounded hearing his words.

"You don't need to protect me ..." I said, hoping to touch Jesse's heart, but it turned out the opposite.

He insisted even more on staying here, with me.

Finally, I gave in.

"Alright then. If you refuse to escape alone, then help me escape together. My initial plan was to get you out of this room with whatever strength I have left. But since you don't want to, then we'll have to leave together," I said.
