Eden scoffed at Bennett’s audacity. He ordered her to come to the restaurant without asking her if she had plans or if she wanted to go. She texted him back saying: ‘Can’t. Got plans.’

She kept the phone back on the nightstand and put on the covers, ready to sleep. She felt her phone buzz again and quickly picked up her phone. She received a message from Bennett.

‘If you’re going to not honor our agreement, then I am not obliged to do anything for you either.’

At first, Eden didn’t understand what he meant but realized he was talking about her college admission. But she was not going to give in to pressure. She started typing another message.

Eden: Did our agreement include making plans without consulting each other? Reschedule the dinner to lunch instead, and I’ll come.

Bennett: He is important for the business. Ancel your plans, we’ll go to dinner.

Eden: I don’t care how important he is. I can’t come.

Bennett: What plans do you have?

Eden: I don’t have to tell you.
