Neon's perspective
I was nervous around her, she wasn’t aware about it. I have never been this close to any woman, I have always known that my mate will be the only woman for me. If I haven’t found her, Diana was going to take the place of a Luna, the Alpha’s mate.
I felt a rush of adrenaline just standing this close to her, she had no idea how intoxicated her scent was when she’s around me or what she’s doing to me. Jax has been purring in excitement ever since we found her, we couldn’t sleep.
So we watched her sleep. Came into her room at intervals and stare at her, a little scared that it might be a dream and if it was, I didn’t want to wake up from it and found her gone.
We couldn’t wait to mark her and claim her as ours.
If she could reject my love now, what if I told her that she was my mate and in my territory? And the kind of world that I live in, and my identity as a werewolf.
How would she take them?
How would she react when she find out?
Run away and recognize us as a beast?
‘We have to tell her and I’m sure she will understand.’ Jax had advised.
‘Understand what? That I am a werewolf?’ I snorted at Jax.
‘…she's different from us. She probably thinks I’m a beast that’s hunting for his prey.’ I argued with him. That’s what they think of us, beast.
‘We are beast.’ He responded.
‘I don’t want mate to think of us that way.’ I retorted.
‘…she’s human and we are not.’ Jax drawled.
Her existence was a threat to me, I do not want her to be exposed to my world and humans can’t find out about us either.
When she placed her hand on my chest and pushed me off her, I loosened my grip around her waist and let go of her.
“That was a cheesy line.” She cleared her throat, and kept some distance between us.
“Was it?” I mouthed.
I knew nothing about romance.
She rolled her eyes at me.
“Can you take me home?”
“What are you gonna eat? I will ask the…”
“You are not going to take me home? Then leave me alone because the moment I get out of here I gonna call the cops on you!”
I chuckled, she amused me.
“On what charge?” I asked, and folded my arms.
I watched her lips moved, her eyes darting before meeting mine. “Kidnapping.”
“Can I at least get my phone? I need to call my friend Hadley.”
“I will talk to her.”
She frowned. “Do you know her?”
“I will find her.”
I dropped my hand, and let them fall to my side.
“I will send food, you must be hungry, and we will have this conversation after you have eaten.”
“I want to leave.” She stressed.
“After you have eaten. You can leave…” That was a lie.
Her mouth clamped shut, and she stared at me, I cleared my throat and crossed my arms around my back.
I strolled out of the room, I could feel her eyes on me but I didn’t spare her another glance.
As an Alpha I was taught never to show any emotions, and that was the first sign of weakness, I couldn’t tell her what I feel either but I wished she could see how badly I needed her to be here with me.
I went down to my study room, which was close to her room, threw the door open, and made my way to the table, millions of thoughts ran through my head.
She had no idea how frustrated I was. All I wanted was to find my mate, love her, and protect her.
I was happy I found her, staying beside her excites me and scares me as well.
What if she doesn’t accept my true form?
What if she doesn’t love me?
I want to get closer to her, I want to know more about her.
I exhaled deeply and plopped down on the chair with my elbows on the table. I reached out for the bottle of alcohol, it wasn’t the usual whisky the humans take it was mixed with wolfsbane.
I uncapped and poured them into a glass and chugged it down my throat. It was what she was served last night at the bar or something similar to it.
I took another shot, to calm my nerves.
‘What should I do Jax?’ I muttered to my wolf and exhaled.
I did not want to force myself on her.
I want to make her fall in love with me the right way but I don’t know how.
How can I make a human fall in love with me?
A werewolf.
A knock came on the door disrupting my thoughts.
“Alpha.”
“Can I come in?”
“Come in, Silas.”
He entered the room and his eyes went round the room, the papers on the floor and the crack on the wall. I was angry at the project we were working on in the company, the plan wasn’t working as I wanted it to, and I made a mess in my study when I got home.
“Alpha...” He drawled.
I raised a hand to stop him, I wasn’t ready to listen to his nagging.
“How is the girl? Did you get to talk to her?” He pulled out a chair and sat down with his hand folded in front of his chest.
“She said she would never fall in love with me,” I said with a defeated sigh.
“Alpha, I’m sure your looks scare her, if I wasn’t your Beta and close friend I wouldn’t get close to you. Be nicer to her, Alpha.”
“I gave her a killer smile, Silas! What else can I do?” I asked with awful patience and slammed my fist on the table.
Silas frowned at me. “Maybe you weren’t real.”
“Fuck, Silas. I was real to her. I want to show her how much I cherish each moment that we spent together.”
“You ain’t being real.” Silas choked on a laugh and shook his head slightly at me.
“You are being in haste, slow down, else she’s going to hate you.”
“I’m being patient and she already hates me.” I gritted out and threw my hands in the air.
“It has only been a day, you ain’t being patient enough.” He waved a finger on my face.
I rolled my eyes at him. “She’s my mate. Once a werewolf find its mate, there’s no delay in getting mated.”
Silas stood and began to pick up a few of the paperwork on the ground and place them back on the table. He looked up at me, “She’s human.”
That was what I was scared of, scared of the unknown.
If I showed too many emotions, I would be regarded as a weak-hearted Alpha by the pack elders and it was not needed in the leadership of a pack.
I promised myself that I would not lead the pack the same way my father did and how he died shamefully.
I sheered the thought off my head and focused on Silas still picking some of the papers from the ground and arranging them on the table.
“Have the servant give her some food. No, you do it. Get her something to eat.” I ordered and tapped my fingers on the table.
He stopped and spun around to face me, I raised a brow at him studying his sudden haggard face.
“The reason I came here was because...” He pressed his lips into a thin lip and lowered his gaze.
“The thing is...” He smacked his lips together.
“What?” I growled, Jax and I were getting impatient already.
“I asked you to find out who brought her to the bar last night, she made mention of a girl Haddie. What did you find?”
“I found Hadley.”
I nodded, and Silas sighed.
“Her boyfriend, Eason is a werewolf.” He stated.
“A member of our pack?”
“Yes, Alpha. He came for the mating ceremony with Hadley, they brought Aria along because she suffered from a heartbreak and they didn’t know when she wandered off and came to the upper room.”
Heartbreak?
I ruffled my hair.
I made a mess, how could I talk about falling in love with her?
“Who was the bastard?” I asked through gritted teeth.
“I heard his name is Anton Wishley, he’s the son of D&J company we are partnering with for the expansion of our company project.” Silas explained.
“Send an email to them, we are canceling the deal we made.” I tapped my fingers on the table for a moment, and pushed the chair backward.
“I will have breakfast with Aria, tell the maid to set the table.”
Silas bowed while I walked passed him, I head towards Aria’s room and turned the door knob open. I wanted to apologize for acting like an asshole.
The only woman that has made me feel this way was her.
“Aria, I…” I stunned to find the room empty, the window was wide open and the wind was flapping the curtains.
Aria was gone.
Aria's perspectiveI watched him leave. There was this glint in his eyes when he said he will let me leave. He was so adamant on making me stay in his mansion. But, I wasn’t gonna let him control me like some kind of property that he owns.I don’t even know this man! But I know that he lied about letting me go.Everything has been strange from that night at the bar.I hurried to find my shoes. It was placed beside the bed, I put them on.I ran to the window and looked down. It was the second floor, IfI could get on the roof and slide down and land on my butt, it wouldn’t hurt, right?I just have to give it a try.I need to get home and away from him and this creepy house!I climbed over the window and walked carefully on the roof, then I sat down on the edge of the roof and pushed my hands back.Striking myself to fall on the ground, I did not fall on my butt as I had thought but ended up falling on my stomach and face.Fuck!I winced in pain but forced myself up, peeping quickly if so
Neon's perspective“...who are you?”My chest burned within and my throat was tight as I tried to keep my emotions from erupting, I ground my teeth and ignored her question.‘Bring the silver handcuff.’ I mind-linked Silas.‘On it, Alpha.’ His response came almost immediately.I took the handcuffs from his hands when he came close, he retreated his footsteps.I spun and grabbed her left hand.“What are you doing?” There was a slight panic in her voice when I took her hand. I grazed her wrist with my fingers and handcuffed her hand to the bed.“Making sure this doesn’t happen again.” I let go of her hand when I was done. “Stop struggling with it, you will end up getting hurt.”“Why do you care?” She spat angrily, her icy glare fixed on my face.“Keeping you safe from all harm is my priority. I can’t let you get hurt. That’s all you should know.” I held her gaze, my hands placed on both sides of the bed beside her.“Are you ready to talk to me now? Why did you run away? You should have t
Neon's perspectiveI stood up from the bed, marched down to the door, grabbed Diana by her wrist and dragged her out of the room, let the door slam shut behind me.“Neon!”I glowered at Diana, she was wearing a grey pantsuit a lavender silk blouse, and matching heels. Her blonde hair was smoothed into an elegant chignon. I wonder where she was coming from all dressed up.“Come with me, now.” I took in a deep breath to calm my agitation. She was struggling with me to let go of her wrist, surreptitiously, stealing glances through the door of Aria’s room.“Let go, Neon!” She yanked her hand free from my hold and rubbed her wrist while glaring at me.“Come with me. Quietly.” I ordered.“I deserve some respect too, Neon. Don’t you think I deserve to know what’s going on?”“Come with me,” I repeated my words and started to walk down to the study. She stormed her feet on the ground murmured inaudible words, and followed the path down to the study room.“Close the door.”“You are unbelievable
Diana's perspectiveI have been working hard for the pack and this was how he decides to pay me, after everything that I have done? The crowning ceremony was a couple of days away and he’s going to make her, a human girl his Luna?He was choosing her over me.It’s been just a few days she has been here and Neon has completely forgotten about me.His affection for her grows stronger by the day, how he talks about her and the way he calls her name.I thought he would one day, look at me that way, call me his Luna, and accept me as his chosen mate.But.I was nothing to him, the years we had spent together building and straightening the pack meant nothing to him, all that matters is his mate, a silly human. The leverage I have over her is that she’s human, she could not stand a chance against me who has the blood of a Beta and a strong wolf.My father died while protecting Neon, that was how I was chosen to be his Luna.I have lived with Neon ever since, I know everything about the pack a
Aria's perspectiveThe lady, the one who came to visit me just now, was gorgeous and I loved everything about her, tall with straightened blonde hair she wore a pantsuit and a lavender blouse. She looked confident and young.A few minutes later she came back as she promised. She had talked with the master and brought the keys to the handcuffs along with her. When she said Neon wasn’t as he seems, I believe her, he looked rather mysterious.I had to find out if there was some illegal business going on in the mansion.“You haven’t tell me your name.”“It’s Diana.” She smiled.I wonder how she could smile in such a situation but her smile was beautiful. She took the handcuff off my hand.“There, you are free.” She dropped the handcuffs on the bedside table. “You are not going to run again, are you?”“Not without your help.” I grinned.“Thank you, Diana.”“Good night, Aria. I will see you tomorrow.”I nodded with a smile and watched her leave the room.I was glad that there was someone I c
Neon's perspective“You are mine, I meant what I said.”She scoffed in disbelief, picked up her fork, and started eating, avoiding my gaze.I placed my hand on my jaw and watched her eat, Diana excused herself and left the dining area, she didn’t come back to the dining and I didn’t ask her why she left.“Why do you keep staring at me?” Aria stopped eating and tilted her to the side, staring at me.“You need to eat more Aria.” I urged.“Why does that feel like some order?” She narrowed her gaze at me.“I’m full.” She replied stubbornly. He shook my head at her, she barely ate anything.“You will finish your meal. I want you to add some weight. It seems you haven’t been eating. If you have been eating, you won’t have been at this park with a plate in yo—“She stabbed her fork noisily on her meal with a side glare. Her jaw slightly gritted, I chuckled, and she amuses me.“Ain’t you going to eat?” I asked. She twitched her lips, I dragged her out of the chair made her sit on my lap, and s
Neon's perspective“Silas that way, Gemma! To the left!” I yelled in the woods when we caught some of the rogues. We ran after them, I ran faster when I let Jax out, and I knew if I had to catch those rogues I had to shift. My bones cracked as I ran, I grew bigger, my ears became longer, my claws came out, and my fangs. The clothes tore off my body, and Jax surged forward, running after the rogue. One of them was running in the direction of my house. I hastened up. I had to get him before he got closer to where the mansion was.It never occurred to me why he was running to the mansion, leaving the other rogues behind.‘Faster Jax.’ I growled. There haven’t been rogues in the pack for a long time.‘Alpha, we couldn’t find him.’ My Gemma said through the mind link.I snarled. ‘Find the mole, search everywhere, search every house in the pack if you have to. Find him.’‘Yes, Alpha.’I closed the mind link and focused on the running rogue. The pack can’t be in danger not now that mate was
Aria's perspectiveDiana was right, she’s the only one I can trust now. She told me I shouldn’t trust him, and I had almost fallen for his charms. It was getting late and Neon wasn’t home after he left the house in the morning, I had some tea with Diana in the bedroom, and she wanted us to take some cool air on the balcony. She spends the whole day together, having random talks. Then, we went out to the balcony, she went to the kitchen to get some late-night snacks when I caught a glimpse of something in the woods. At first, I saw the trees moving and something running. I leaned closer, I saw the glowing eyes in the dark and a body lying on the ground will blood around it. He stood up, his sharp teeth bared forth, and ears longer than normal.I gasped and moved away from the railings. He moved closer, and that was when I saw his face, and his body clothed with blood. It was Neon. That was the same man standing in front of me right now, pleading that he wasn’t going to hurt me.Bullshit
Aria's perspectiveI didn’t know what was going on, and why was Diana missing but I was too tired to get up from the bed, my eyes felt heavy and I needed more nights of sleep.I brought one of the pillows close to my chest and wrapped my hand around it since Neon wasn’t in the room.My stomach grumbles as if I hadn’t eaten a while ago. After a while of tossing around, I eventually fell asleep. When I woke up, I was alone in the bed, and it felt as if something was hanging on my throat. I rushed out of bed into the bathroom and threw up on the toilet. My hand gripped the toilet seat and vomited everything that I ate last night.I flushed it down the toilet and splashed water on my face on the faucet. I washed my mouth as well and came out of the bathroom.“I was about to open the door, are you okay?” Neon was standing there with a towel in his hand.“Did you throw up?”“Yes.” I sighed.“I didn’t see you on the bed when I woke up.”“I left early, there was an emergency you were sleeping
Silas' perspectiveThe moment I went down the stairs with Rufus in my hand, we found Diana at the bottom of the stairs. She froze when she saw me, and her jaw dropped to the ground. She took a step down the stairs.Probably she wanted to eavesdrop to know what would become of me since the Alpha had caught on.I pulled Rufus along and met with her. “You will have a word with the Alpha soon. I won’t come for you now, Diana. Give me some time when I have gathered enough evidence, I will make you regret every choice you’ve made.” I whispered to her ears when I was close to her.I saw her fist cleaned, and her face was filled with fear and anger. She said nothing, there was nothing for her to say knowing that she had been caught.I pulled Rufus along, and out of the house. I could feel her eyes behind us, till we were out of the house.I handed Rufus to the prison guard and made sure he was watched and they won’t leave his side for a minute.I hurried to the Pack hospital. I needed a Pack D
Neon's perspectiveHer eyes snapped to my face, she took a step closer to me. “Neon.” She muttered in shock.“What do you mean I should leave, where would I go? Neon you know I have nowhere to go, this is my only home.”“Then you should have thought about your actions!” I raised my voice at her.“It was just sleeping pills you gave Aria, it could be poison next, and then what, you would kill her!” I was struggling to keep my wolf in check, we had just come from a long day at the meeting and came home to meet this.“Neon, no...” She shook her head as if she was going to justify her actions.“I didn’t know what came over me.”I huffed. “You didn’t know?”“I did.” She replied.“Are you messing with me now? The guards told me you planned this, you carefully made this plan and got the necessary things that you need, and you don’t know what came over you?”She fell on her knees, clasped her hands together, and cried. “I’m sorry, Neon.”“It’s Alpha!” I corrected her.“Alpha Neon please, I won
Neon's perspectiveI didn’t understand what was going on, I wanted to see my mate, Aria. If anything had happened to her, I made my way to the bed after picking up the duffle bag that I dropped. I dropped it on the floor beside the bed.My hand touched her hair and down to her face, she was breathing but her eyes were shut. She wasn’t having any clothes on, they must have stripped off from the dress she wore. I clenched my fist beside me and stared at Silas. “Who made my mate like this? Which of you strip her?”“It wasn’t me!” The guard who was on his knees immediately shouted. I tore my gaze off Silas when he was about to speak.“Who did?”“It was Luna Diana, Alpha. She was the one who took off her dress. We had only carried her into the room. We didn’t do anything else.” He rushed his words.I nodded, trying to understand why Diana would do such a thing. What was she planning that she had my mate involved in it?“And what are you doing here Silas?”“I already explained what happened
Silas' perspectiveMy eyes fluttered open after a while, I groaned and felt a hand pulling me. I opened my eyes fully and saw a guard pulling me along to the bed.“Fuck, why is he so heavy!” He grunted and dragged me forward. What was going on?And what was the headache that I felt earlier?I hit his hand off my body, and he jolted forward. I saw the shock on his face when he noticed that I was awake.“Why did you bring me here?”“B-Beta?” He sputtered as if lost for words.“Speak!” I shouted. Why did he bring me into Neon’s bedroom when I was talking with Diana earlier at the bar section?I glanced across the bed quickly. Aria was on the bed with the covers on. I darted my gaze away from her body when I saw that her shoulders were bare. What the fuck happened when I passed out?I stared at the other guard who was hiding behind the door and pulled him out of there. I slammed his back on the wall. “You will speak now or I will slit your throat!” I threatened. The other guard who had car
Diana's perspectiveWhen I left Neon in his study room, I couldn’t go back to sleep. If I don’t act fast, I might end up losing everything, and Neon would find out.If he does, that would be the end of me and I couldn’t let that happen.I paced around my bed, thinking of what I should do, and Silas was on my tail too. If the rogue gets caught, I will be in so much trouble, and it’s not gonna end well.I sighed and sat down on the bed after pacing back and forth for a long time.I bite my nails while thinking of what to do, I had to come up with a plan else it gonna be hell.Neon won’t believe anything I say, that it was all Aria’s fault that all of this was happening, he seemed as if he was bewitched by her and won’t think Aria could be of any wrong or anything was her fault.I hurriedly picked up my phone when it rang, and answered it.“Hello...” I said on the phone while waiting for the receiver to respond. He didn’t say anything for over a minute.“Can you hear me?”“Heard one of my
Neon's perspectiveI got informed of the meeting with the elders and had to leave the house.I didn’t want to leave Aria alone in the house though the guards were there but they weren’t as strong as my Beta or Gemma. The rogue was still on the loose, and he could find his way to the mansion. Aria said he saved her, I couldn’t help but be suspicious about him.He could come back here, and if I wasn’t around I need my Beta to be here to guide my home, and my mate and Diana as well. They are the people I cherish most and I don’t want anything to happen to them.I had a quick shower and dressed up. Aria was still sleeping. I kissed her lightly on her lips. “I love you, mate and I’m sorry.”I went out of the house, shutting the door quietly behind me.I will see her when I get back from the meeting, and I will try not to get back late. I couldn’t stay hours away from my mate.I drove to the pack house. We were having the meeting here.“Alpha...” The elders stood up when I came in, they lowe
Silas's perspectiveI stayed a while in Neon’s study after he went for a meeting with the council of Elders. I worked on the pack issues we were having and started arranging his study before he came back.I had to make sure the study room was cleaned, and every book was placed in the right order.I asked the Gemma to leave and go on with his work at the borders, and I was behind at the mansion.I was intentionally waiting to see Aria. Neon said she was asleep before he left and I was waiting for her to wake up so I could check up on her and hold a few conversations.I wonder how she was feeling, and if her wound was healing. I forgot to ask if Neon used his saliva on her because it can also heal wounds, she probably didn’t want to take Neon’s blood.Aria looked scared to be a werewolf and not after what she had seen, and what happened to her.She probably thinks we are all beasts.I ran a finger through my hair and stepped out of the study when it was past six.‘Should I ask the maid t
Aria's perspective“Do I have to be a werewolf?” I mumbled. She chuckled softly and folded her arms on her chest. She stared at me as if she wanted to read my thoughts.“How do you expect to lead a pack of werewolves when you’re human?” She asked amusingly.“I thought it could work.” My voice came out faintly.“Don’t be silly. Aria, think about it, we are werewolves, you’re just human. You’re different from us, werewolves like us can’t go to your city and become president of the states and that’s how it works here too.” She rolled her eyes.I pouted my lips. Neon told me he has an estate business in New York, and he’s influence in New York. He’s a werewolf but he was able to do all that.“Can they tell?”“We can easily sense that you’re human. It’s like a bad omen.”I clamped my mouth because I had no idea how to respond to that, I looked away from her.Her words hurt.Does Neon think like that as well? That I’m nothing but bad luck.“Do you think Neon thinks that way as well?” I asked
