Ember’s POV:

Turning toward Darius, Nicholus assessed him with a vengeful gaze, “Really, Beta? Were my orders about her not clear enough to you?”

Darius’s shoulders slouched as he exhaled, “They were, Alpha.”

“And you still decided to go against me and defy my orders?” growled my mate angrily.

Darius stared at the ground, “I thought…”

Alpha cut him off mid-sentence, “I wonder why you have a soft corner for her, Darius. She is the one who betrayed your Alpha and still your loyalty lies with her.”

At that, Darius lifted his head and looked at his Alpha, “That’s not true, Nicholus. I…”

Once again, my mate didn’t let him finish as he spat bitterly, “I feel betrayed, Darius.” He shook his head slowly and grumbled in a low voice, “And you were never supposed to betray me.”

Before poor Darius could explain his point, Alpha Nicholus turned his attention to the guards standing on either side of Darius and ordered them, “Hang him to the chains.”

My eyes widened at his words, “What?”

Ember’s POV:I watched in astonishment as a tall lady stormed into the dungeon hall with two guards behind her. They were nothing like the dungeon guards. Both had heavy build with intimidating looks permanently etched into their features. They were more like warriors. But all of my attention was focused on the lady who was lethal but equally charismatic. Immense power radiated off her.Her eyes were fearless which quickly turned ferocious as soon as they landed on Darius hanging from the ceiling.“For God’s sake, Nicholus. Ember's POV:I heard the trembling voice from my left, "Lemme ask you again, are you really sure about it, Ember?"I jerked my head in Sophie's direction, not liking the doubt in her demeanor at the last minute, "Why else do you think I've crossed the Forbidden Border and entered the North territory?"Her eyes swept our gloomy surroundings, taking in the dark forest all around, and she shivered, "I am not liking any of it. We can still go back..."My eyes narrowed in annoyance, "The fear in your voice is now making me question Liam's training skills."Sophie rolled her eyes, "You are this much confident because you are an Alpha born."I gave her another look to which she responded with a groan, "Don't look at me like that. You know why I am this afraid. I mean, come on, we are in the NORTH."I shook my head and sighed in disappointment, "You knew what you were getting yourself into when you agreed to it, Sophie."Her voice lowered when she replied, "I couldn't really let you come here

Ember's POV:I stationed Sophie behind the bush outside the castle and made my way over to the guards. They got suspicious but before they could warn others through the mindlink, I was up to them and breathing down their necks. As soon as our eyes met, the game was over for them.Once my hypnotizing power kicked in, I inquired, "Where the prisoners from the South are kept?"Just as good little puppets they were, they responded in unison, "In the dungeons."Stashing that crucial piece of information, I then asked about the way toward the dungeons and how many more guards would I encounter on my sweet way to the said dungeons.Taking Sophie with me, I stepped inside the castle and took a quick sweep. Sticking to what the guard had told me, I started walking toward the left. Reaching the end of the corridor, I stopped at the edge of the staircase leading downward where everything was engulfed by the eerie darkness.I kept my mindlink open and tried to reach out to the prisoners that bel

Ember's POV:Staying close to each other, the four of us sprinted through the dark and gloomy forest. Even though the castle must have been a chaotic mess right now there was no doubt that a small army of North warriors must be out here by now, searching for us.None of us dared make any noise because if we got caught now, there would be no going back because I had already deprived my energy reservoir to hypnotise any more of them and it would be impractical to think that the four of us- I cast a gaze at Sophia and sighed. Well, the three of us stood a chance against the army of Alpha Nicholus.I quickened my pace and glanced over my shoulder. There was no one. And it was even more suspicious. The path was leading us to the edge of the forest which was actually the border of the North region. As we got closer to it, I opened the mindlink and informed Jake about our status, "There are four of us. We are hardly five minutes away, Jake. Be ready.""Roger that," came his reply, and a minu

Ember's POV:The ride back to the South was eerily silent. I had broken the hypnotizing spell on Sophie and she was now sleeping peacefully as if she had been hella tired after fighting the beasts of the North. The other two packmates that I rescued today were over the moon and chattering to each other about how high their alpha, my father, thought of them to send ME to rescue them. One deadly look from me and their mouths had been clamped shut since then. But yes, I had also pondered over that more than once. When exactly did these two nut heads become so important to Father? As far as I know they neither possessed any extraordinary wisdom nor otherwordly powers to be of utmost importance. They were just two packmates who were foolish enough to roam outside the territory and were abducted by the warriors of the North. And even if they somehow became so important to him, he could have sent an army of warriors to rescue them. Why would he go to the lengths and put my life in danger for

Nicholus's POV: The shock still lingered inside me long after she was gone. There had been a very few moments in my life that had rendered me speechless and it surely was one of those. Those eyes. Those big, round eyes, the shade of melted chocolate. The most mesmerizing and surely the most unforgettable. Today, my mom, the Luna of the pack had arranged The Mating Ball for the unmated wolves of our pack. Many renowned personalities of the North were invited. The preparations had been going on for more than a month. I had commanded the warriors to maintain strict security, patrol the area, and share the word if anything seemed wrong. Trouble tonight after that much security was the last thing I had expected. I was mingling with the guests when my Beta, Darius, opened our mindlink. His worry reached me way before his words did. I had already excused myself and stepped aside when he informed me, "There has been some trouble in the dungeons." I tried to keep a calm facade in front o

Nicholus's POV:Chasing a girl in the forest for any reason other than preying was the last thing I could have imagined, myself, the King of North, doing. What exactly was I doing there when I already had chaos to handle back in the castle was beyond my understanding. For now, all my mind was set on was to chase that faint scent I was rapidly growing addicted to.Of course, I maintained my distance and didn't let her know that I was lingering closer. When the four of them were at a little distance from the edge of the forest, the sound of a helicopter whirled in the air.A little later, I watched them climbing into it.I stayed glued to my spot. Anger was rolling off of me in waves. I was angry at the choice of Fate. I was enraged at the fact that the girl who was supposed to stand by me and rule the North was actually the one to betray it and run away. How could she just discard such a sacred bond just like that? Was it really so easy for her?Our eyes met once again and for some sic

Ember’s POV:I dug my nails into his hand wrapping around my wrist while rasping, “Where the hell are you taking me?”Initially, I had expected him to put me back in the cell but soon, I realized that the devil had some other plans for his prey.Fear crept under my skin as he dashed deeper into the dungeons, leaving all the cells behind. As we walked through the dark corridor, I felt the air becoming thick and stagnant.I winced at the foul smell of rotting flesh whirling in the air. I tried desperately to wriggle myself out of his tight hold and croaked through the clogged throat, “Just leave me. Let me go.”At the end of the corridor, he took a sharp turn to the right and started bolting down the staircase. My free hand flew out in a failed attempt to hold anything, to fight him but all was in vain as he sped down.A shiver ran down my spine as the temperature here felt even colder than it was in the cells. Only a few dim lights were illuminating the otherwise dark hallway. There wer

Ember’s POV:Once again, silence prevailed all around us as we both stared at each other with intensity. None of us averted our gazes as millions of thoughts whirled around in our minds.I waited for him to thrash out in anger, mock me for not being a purebred, alpha-born, and insult me for having mixed blood in my veins.More than anything, I desperately waited for him to reject me right then and there. A new hope fluttered inside me. I was a hybrid, everything opposite to what he was expecting in his fated mate. The wisest thing for him to do as a King was to reject me and find a Chosen Mate with strong connections and pure, alpha blood coursing through her veins. But a long time passed and he kept standing there, gawking at me, thinking God knew what. His blank stare had started to affect me more than I liked to admit. I wondered what was going on in his mind.I squirmed under his hard stare and finally sputtered, “Say something.”I regretted that instantly. Why did I sound so vulne

Ember's POV:I was thrashing on his shoulder, screaming maniacally, punching him anywhere my fists could reach but he remained unscathed and seemed unbothered as he effortlessly carried me back to the dungeons. As soon as he stepped inside, guards rushed to close the gates, and only then did he unhauled me from his fucking shoulder. As my feet landed on the ground, I coiled my hands into tight fists and started yelling, "You caveman, freaking Neanderthal, how dare you..."Ignoring me like I was invisible, he turned around to face the guards, "Explain to me how she managed to leave even after such tight security?"Blood left their faces as they gawked at me with wide eyes and stammered in fear, "Alpha, we've been on high alert just as you've ordered us. We don't know how she..."Before the poor, frightened guard even finished his sentence, my very uncivilized and cruel mate lunged forward and wrapped his hands around the necks of both guards.Moving with the speed of light, he took the

  • Kidnapped By The Ruthless Alpha Of North   Chapter 86

Ember's POV: Death played in front of my eyes in slow motion. I saw bulky wolves prancing in the air with their mouths gaped open, ready to bite their meal and tear me apart. I was still as a rock, not daring to move a muscle in my body, welcoming death with open arms when, all of a sudden, the world seemed to stop around me. My eyebrows deepened in utter confusion as I saw wolves suddenly falling to the ground mid-jump. Their bodies thudded down and they all touched their heads to the ground in complete surrender. A million questions whirled in my mind and I jolted around in a full circle to make sense of the things happening in front of my eyes. Who were they surrendering to? There was no one around us for as far as my eyes could behold. I would have loved to get answers to satisfy my curiosity but what I would have loved even more was to survive. As I took in all the wolves bowed down in surrender, it suddenly felt like fate had given me a second chance at life, at freedom.

Ember’s POV:It had been ages since I’d trained or practiced with my packmates due to the weakness I felt after Aria’s disappearance but I didn't let that excuse bring me down when I was this close to freedom now.Closing my eyes, I called forward the athlete inside me and took a deep breath to release the tension in my body.I walked closer to the wall that was now separating me from my freedom and took a moment to assess it with evaluating eyes.My gaze roamed over the stony wall and I touched the protruding stones where I could hook my hands and feet while climbing. There was no doubt that the wall was strong enough to hold my weight but the only problem was the silver that was now streaking down the wall at multiple places.I couldn’t do anything about that other than tolerating the burns because no matter how careful I could be, the touch with silver was inevitable.I rolled my shoulders several times as a warm-up. With a heavy breath, I lifted my arms and grabbed the highest pro

I was lying in a fetal position, rolling in my misery, waiting for the worst to come and consume me when all of a sudden, out of nowhere, an idea struck my mind.My heart started pounding with anticipation as once again, a tiny ray of hope fluttered inside me. I jolted up in a sitting position and reprimanded myself for not thinking about it earlier. How could such a thing skip my mind?Nearing the bars, I made sure no one was prying on me. Returning, I sat cross-legged, facing the wall, and closed my eyes.Slowly, one by one, I detached all of my reflexes from my surroundings until I felt myself floating in oblivion, and focused all of my energy to peek into myself just like I've been doing every other night.
