Vlad places one plate in front of Gabriela and then places the other plate in front of his chair before he can sit down there is a soft knock on the outer door. Gabriela watches as Vlad walks over, unlocks and opens the door, he takes something from someone and then closes the door, relocking it, still not trusting her not to run, before returning to the table.

Vlad sets the Ice bucket with the bottle of wine inside on the window ledge. Vlad smiles as he leans over, removes the lid from Gabriela’s dinner and then his own placing them on the floor to the side. Vlad picks up the bottle of wine, opens it and fills their glasses to half full. He then smiles at Gabriela and says,

“Please, eat.”

Gabriela looked down at the wonderful-smelling pasta bolognese sitting in front of her, she hesitated for a moment longer before she sighed, picked up and filled the fork with pasta before lifting it to her mouth.
