Even with my eyes closed, she seems to glow, and it gets brighter and brighter, making it feel like even with my eyes closed, I won’t be able to see when I open them again. As the glow seems to reach its peak, a pulse of something explodes out with me and her as its centre. The glow then slowly fades and I remove my canines and Cole’s fangs, swiping my tongue over my mark, sealing it.

I then leave the cell, walk briskly down the corridor, back up the stairs two at a time, through what could only be the basement and then back up through the Den, keeping my hearing focused on her heart which is still only barely beating.

Once I reached the Den entry, I slowed to a walk and walked slowly out with her limp and passed out in my arms. Everyone who is still standing around the Den entry steps back from me with a gasp and their hands over their mouths, seeming to be horrified by what they see.
