Well, Paul really was very different from the man we knew. He no longer had that sparkle in his eyes. His hair was cut short — like a military style — his face was clean-shaven, and he bore a scar on his cheek. He seemed to have lost his touch with people, once again. His posture was upright, and he always seemed tense.

“Paul,” Jaden said, smiling. “I’m glad you came.” My mate looked at me as he helped me up. “You and Malia already know each other…”

“Luna, I’m pleased to see you at last,” he said with a slight bow. “I’m glad you’re well. King Alpha Jaden told me everything that happened to you. I’m sorry.”

“That’s in the past. Now, I’m a mother of five beautiful, lively children, so I have no time for melancholy.”

“Well, I’d love to meet your children,” he laughed. “I would have loved to be your delivery doctor. I confess I’m a bit jealous of the new doctor.”
