Chapter 5

K•E•L•S•I::::

The closing bell rang, I was the first to rush out of the class, I honestly don't belong here! I hasten my footsteps as i wanted to go home on time.

Parents were coming to pick their children, flashy cars were everywhere it was noisy and that made me feel sick the more.

I knew I had to trek home, i didn't waste a moment to start my journey home.

I walked out of the gate eager to get home, cover myself with a duvet and forget about today.

I started trekking under the hot sun, when I got to the junction where there was a pothole with water, I waited for some drivers to pass so I can continue, while trying to pass through the pothole avoiding the water, a vehicle from no where splashed the dirty water on my body, I suddenly became chill wet from head to toe including my school bag.

I looked at there I saw the driver slowed down and Anita head came out of the car window laughing.

I couldn't do or say anything, I tried to clean off some dirt and continue my trekking.

When I got home I was very tired, hungry and thirsty.

"Mum iam back!" I yelled entering our room, there was no reply. 

I quickly showered, change my clothes and saw a plate covered with a bottle of water besides it, I opened it and saw fried rice and beef, my belly rumbled loudly at the sight of the food, heaven knew I was very hungry. 

I didn't bother sitting down, I started eating pacing the room.

My head flipped towards the door when I heard sound of it opening, and mum walked in.

"You're back? Mum asked closing the door gently.

"Yes ma! I didn't see you when I came" I said, trying to hide my dirty uniform.

"Yeah I went on an errand to the market for Mrs Raphael", mum sat on the bed with a tired look.

I know Mrs Raphael is not too happy about our stay in the house, her attitude towards mum has been off.

"I hope she is not making things too hard for you ma"? I asked mum sitting close to her.

"No! Not atall". She smiled.

I know mum could hide her feelings very well, I know mrs Raphael might have be giving her a hard time I didn't bother her with further questions.

" So, how was your day in school? She asked smilling, Changing the topic.

"Fine ma.... Very fine ma", I replied returning her smile just that mine was fake, very fake.

I wanted to burst out crying, but the food I was eating would not let me.

"Okay eat quickly, do your assignment and come join me".

The Raphael's have visitors and there's a lot of work to be done", mom said walking out of the room.

I nodded, eating the last piece of beef.

I quickly do the dishes and followed mum to the Raphael's house to assist her.

"Who are these visitor?" I asked mum, curiosity killing me as we opened the gate to Mr Raphael's mansion.

"I don't know, I think his children or so" mum replied bringing out the vegetables from the shopping bag.

Oh! Wow! So Mr Raphael children are already around, "why then I have not seen them?

I shrugged.

One hour later a beautiful black car with tinted glasses drove in and we were called to come help the visitor take their luggage inside,

" why can't they take in their bag"? I hissed angrily. 

I noticed the other person did not bother coming out of the car, maybe he is probably glued with his or her phone or something,

Carefully i kept the luggage in their room  on coming out, I saw the figure entering the kitchen.

Tiptoeing secretly I tried to see who that was, I mean if it's Mr Raphael son or an intruder, so i will know how I will scream out with a loud voice.

I was close to the kitchen door when his phone rang making me jump in fear.

Whispering silently to mum who was coming out of thekitchen........

"Who is in the kitchen mum?"

"Kelsi' Let us go home" she pulled my hand.

I sigh"  okay mum.
