“ Good evening Miss Nena” the receptionist called out as Nena passed, headed to her room . Hassan , the hotel receptionist had been giving out smiles and polite pleasantries at Nena since the day she had logged in the past weekend when she came into the city
“ how was your case today” hassan asked
“ it was exhausting. I just want to get in and have some rest”
“ok ma’am, here you go” Hassan said , stretching his arm and handling her the keycard to her room.
“ thank you hassan. Goodnight”
“you too ma’am. Do have a goodnight”.
Nena managed to make herself comfortable not so long after she entered the room . she had a lot on her mind but had also managed to make her way in and out of a good exhilarating shower. She now relaxed on her bed in her pajamas with a pen and notepad placed beside the laptop computer she had underneath her palms. She had just taken a minute to scoop a spoon from the bowl of cereal she had with her on the bed , eyes still fixed on the laptop screen.
A skype call came ringing on her screen. She was quickly irritated as the call came in , seeing that it was unanticipated and was about to interrupt her work.
She relaxed soon after realizing the call was from her client and cousin, Lucile Johnson.
“ hello dear” Nena started after accepting the call.
“ hello sis” Lucile replied “ did I catch you at a bad time”
“not at all dear” lied “ how are you doing”
“I’m okay” I actually called to ask you the same thing. With the way things were in court today, I hope you weren’t stressed out”
“ oh please dear, are you now trying to insult me. The case today was nothing compared to the ones I normally handle which have earned me the reputation I have now. Trust me , I’ll make sure that boy B.J or whatever spends the rest of his life behind bar. This is a very easy one I promise.”
“that wasn’t the reason I called you tonight sis. i actually wanted to take my mind of it for a little bit.”
“and you thought I was the best person to call for that?” nena asked sarcastically “ the prosecuting lawyer handling the case?”
Lucile laughed hard now.
“ well we can talk about that fiancé of yours you earlier told me about . I am itching to hear the gist of how it all happened. Tell me , how did it all start, how long ago, how was the proposal. Tell me everthing”
Nena was shocked at the topic of discussion Lucile was proposing. This was the last thing she imagined herself discussing at a time like this. For someone who was the victim of a rape, Lucile had not been taking the case as painstakingly seriously as she expected but for the sake to see where this discussion would lead, Nena indulged her.
“ well, there isn’t much to tell. His name is danny. Danny and I met over six months ago and I know you are going to say that was fast, I must admit , even me too but danny has been the best thing that happened to me over these past few months we’ve been together.”
“wow. You are really in love sister”
“ I guess I am. He is just so magical you know. Caring, Godfearing, financially sustainable and did I mention damn straight hot. The kind of things you would want in a dream man”
“oh wow sis. I must admit, I never really pegged you for a romantic. You have always been so serious about your work that sometimes I begin to wonder if there’ll be a man behind the picture. It seems this danny guy had got you really hooked . I’m so happy for you since”
“ thank you dear. I know it came as quite a shock. But I am definite he is the one. Besides , This is my mid thirties I’m not growing any younger.”
“True sis. But I do hope everything is going to be okay with you both. Is he not bothered you travelled all the way down here , leaving him alone in lagos. Are you okay with that yourself?”
“well that’s what I love most about him. His is so supportive of my work and understands that I’m a career woman so he has no problems with my travels. He was the one to even drop me off at the airport. So there really isn’t any problem on that part. Besides I would be going back to lagos soon “
“ really? What for”
“ there is a meeting I need to attend for another case I am working on but don’t worry I wont be more that two days over there and my assistant would be here to attend to the case while I’m gone”
“ok sis. I think I would have to go now. Please do not forget to send a picture of our soon to be inlaw. I need to see for myself”
“okay dear. Would do. Bye”
“bye dear”. Lucile’s face disappeared from the screen and the window nena was working with prior to the call, resurfaced.
Nena took another scoop from the bowl beside her as she now relaxed on the back rest of her bed. All these talks about her fiancé had suddenly gotten her in her feelings. She now desired to talk to him badly. She quickly picked up her mobile cell and dialed in the speed dial code . her phone began transmitting a call to the number that popped up registered as mi amor.
The recipient took quite a while to pick but Nena immediately took the phone to her ears as soon as he did “ hello mi amor”she said.
Back at the underground drug factory, maestro seemed to be having quite a lot of fun interrogating the man on the chair. He had even adopted a new method of interrogation besides the use of the bat club he originally started with. He had with him a gallon filled with gasoline and a light match on his hands. The man on the chair had been beaten up so badly , it was hard to tell if what he had atop his neck was his true face or some Halloween mask. His eyes were badly bruised so much that one of them couldn’t bear to lift its eyelids anymore. His lips were severed so much he could hardly speak; it was a wonder how he was expected to give out any speech with such a mouth let alone, a relevant information. Parts of his skin were already burnt severely . The damage level on this young mans body was an overkill. Maestro had outdone himself with this one. A real work of art ; he thought to himself. whatever information was asked of charlie boy who was now at the brink

Yes, she has been real busy. She now owned the southern region of the city. The queen of the south as she was rightly called, she had the most successful crime organization in the city and the second biggest reputation, only rivaled by maestro. Maestro had been on his toes for her name for the past few years , so he knew her tricks all too well to handle the information poor old Charlie had just given him about who sabotaged his delivery. Maestro knew that by this action, she had broken the rules set by the crime elders; a distinct, discrete
Nena and dani. The alarm rang loud to wake the couple who were still wrapped up together in their bed sheets, both stressed up from the activities they engaged in the previous night.“dani please put it off already” nena had ordered.Maestro stretched his arm out to put off the alarm since the noise had become clearly unbearable to his ears.It was 6 am in the morning. The couple apparently didn’t want to get up this early even though maestro had ordered his driver to pick him up at that exact time. Its been only 2 weeks since nena had made the trip to Abuja to represent Lucile in the rape lawsuit . two weeks being away from her lover but it felt like she had been away for ages. The way they both stared at each others eyes brought out a glare in both their faces. As they both lay naked underneath the sheets, Nena felt the warmth she had not felt in a long time. Laying there , staring at his eyes, nena co
Nena and her dad.Barrister malcom daniels(SAN) had been the head of the the daniels chambers for as long as 20 years. he had been a studious hard working man . it was no wonder his daughter grew up aspiring to be the diligent workaholic that she was , following her father's footsteps .Nena was always proud of her father , but was more proud of how far she had come following his footsteps as a lady in the Judiciary. Just thinking about it alone made her smile anytime it came to mind , just like she was smiling now as those elegant footsteps of hers walked up the stairs to her fathers office . she had walked into the building in a black suit and had not responded to anyone of the greetings the staffs threw at her except for the secretary that was outside her fathers office."good morning miss Nena" the secretary greeted , now standing up with a smile.hmm, miss. that's about to change pretty soon , she thought to herself "Morning Rose.
The Meeting.Nena arrived the NDLEA headquarters in her Aston Martin sedan automobile . She watched the environment for a moment and observed the behavior of the people she saw walking around the premises. Everyone seemed to be very busy with something and eager to get to their next destination in such a hurry. Nena being the great workaholic that she was,had always been very comfortable working in an environment like this, filled with such serious minded people like herself. She wasted no more time observing them and hurriedly stepped out of her ride, putting her black Gucci shades on, she exotically walked her way down into the building with such great style. It was no surprise that Nena stole the attention of everyone in every building she ever enters, making a beautiful grand entrance. This was no different.Nena walked straight into the board room where she had been informed that the meeting is being held.Everyone was already sea
Nena walked down to the end of the hallway till she reached the director's office. She walked in and took a seat."Good day director".The director rasied his eyeballs slightly few inches above his glasses , puzzled at with the thought of what Nena was doing in his office."Yes ? Miss Nena" gambo spoke "what can I do for you?""Nothing in particular director . I just came for meet you officially. We haven't met on a personal note prior to the meeting and I just thought we should do that." Nena responded"Are you serious? That won't be necessary""On the contrary sir, it is ""Oh really?" Gambo replied as he laid back on his chair and folded his arms. Obviously , now intrigued with where this conversation was actually going.Nena nodded at his question then he continued "enlighten me then miss Nena. How so?""Well, it's not of much relevance if you personally don't deem it so. The necessity of a
Friday the thirteenth of October; six months earlier, it was no surprise that it had been raining heavily at that time of the year. Everyday came with an even heavier sequence of rainfall and thunderstorms. This particular day was no different . Light ray flashes of lightening thunderbolts had been seen traveling from North to South ranging from both the East and west. The rain had been trickling down the drainage pipes on the rooftops to hit hard on the interlocked floor at the St Monica catholic Cathedral at south west Bariga, Lagos. The cathedral was a long withed building of relatively tall heights . it covered several vast acres of the land and was mostly found to be silent especially on days like this where the roads had been flooded In the city.On this day , two men had decided to use the serenity of this building to their advantage and chose to meet discreetly by 8:00pm at the cathedral. One of the men had been sitting on a bench originally from th
It was 7pm already. Nena had been driving for an hour nonstop now until she finally met with the regular Lagos traffic. She was disappointed although not surprised. She had lived in the city all her life and had been accustomed to their age old traffic. She had actually wanted to arrive home with the dinner she picked up from a Mc Donald restaurant outlet in the city. She was headed to Dani’s place and wanted to spend another romantic evening before she travelled back to Abuja the following day for the case on Lucile. She began reminiscing about the sex they had the previous night with Dani and was thinking she could re-create the whole scene again once she got home but there she was, stuck in the unpleasant Lagos traffic. She eventually got home, of course later than she expected but was only grateful that both she and her ride had made it home unscathed from the rough r road. She walked into the apartment and went up the stairs. She walked into the kitch
