Chapter Three
The kiss came to an abrupt end as Emelia screamed.Chris held her tightly as it was obvious she could beat them up if let go.
Lucy blinked twice."Who brought that thing into this place? And how did she know your name?. "
Steve's expression was like as of nothing even happened."Just one of them, you know. Let's just get out of here quick. I am aching to have you more. "He licked his lips seductively and winked at Emelia who was obviously very pissed off at the scenario before her.
Chris finally let her go as they left already.
"Was he the one?."
"Yeah and..i am upset!.I just knew he wasn't suitable for Lola at the very beginning. What do I do to stop this,Chris?.Steve never loved her from the start and it's very obvious now. What do we do?."Emelia said, almost crying. How could she ever tell Nora what she saw today?.
"Hey babe, be calm. We are gonna find a solution to this. Just be calm".
Chris's words soothed her nerves as she embraced him.

Jimmy stared blankly at the old man before him. What were they doing in his dad's private room?.
Three bodyguards walked into the sitting room and bowed to Grandpa Davis.
"We have sealed everything as you've asked us to."
"That's a good one at that. Go to rest. "
They bowed again and left.
Jimmy turned to him.
"Grandpa, wouldnt dad get so much angry about everything you are doing?."
Grandpa smiled. "Well.. I want him furious to the extent of getting a daughter in law for me. I am getting older second after second and I can't die without seeing your siblings."
Jimmy gasped and Grandpa chuckled.
"Is that why you want Dad to marry again?."
Grandpa sighed. The resemblance hit him hard once again. Should he take Jimmy far away from Jason so he could set his life right again?.He knew that just looking at Jimmy, his son would never want to be with another woman. Jimmy had a striking resemblance of Elena.
"Yes and No as well. Aren't you tired of staying here alone?. You need a mother,Jim and your father isn't ready to get my point. Its been years already and he is still adamant.Thats why I just have to do this."
"I hope after this threat,Dad would really get a cool mum for me.I would love to have one. "Jimmy's face glowed with happiness.
Hours after,Jason was back home fuming as expected.Jimmy had fallen asleep on the sofa already.
"Dad, what are you trying to get me to do by all this?!.I was almost arrested at the park today. "
"Jas,it has always been simple and clear. Get yourself a wife and a mother for Jim. I didn't raise you as an only child so Jim isn't enough in this mansion. Its been years already.Dont get yourself glued to the past anymore."
Jason sat. "I have told you that I can't and will never get someone anymore.Do you want the lady to get hurt at the end only to realize I have never loved her all my life. If you need kids to talk to,Vanessa and Tim had made you happy at that already. So stop bugging and threatening me Dad because I won't succumb to your wishes."
He stood up to leave. Grandpa held him back.
"Get yourself healed son. There are too many great things in life for you to miss.Dont let Jim be void of the love of a mother. He needs it even if he can't tell you a word. Think more about him than yourself."
Grandpa kissed Jimmy's forehead and left.
Jason inhaled deeply as his dad's words came ringing in his head. Trailing his son's face with his hands on the sofa, he knew he had to forfeit his selfishness and his past. Elena had now become a past and he has to forget about her even if he didn't want to.He just had to.
Jimmy stirred his eyes open, smiling.Taking another look at his dad, his expression changed.
"What have you been thinking Dad?.Your eyes looks so sad."
"Nothing serious boy.Just in thoughts of everything your grandpa has said. "
"Uhm.. Dad. Take your time to decide.I am not in rush to get a mother even if I would have love to but your happiness matters a lot to me. I will wait till you make your own very decisions and I am sure Mum would be really happy up there to see you taking the right steps for our family."
Jason soon found tears in his eyes at just the words of his son. "Where the hell did I get you?."He smiled.
Jimmy giggles. "Right from mum's belly."
Laughter was heard.

Lola stared at the computer before her.Why was it so hard for her to concentrate today?.She flipped up the files on her table, recollecting she had a meeting to attend with her boss.
The intercom buzzed.
đź“žAppointment by 7pm tonight. Don't be late.Flight ticket would be sent by 6 and you would be back before 12am to prepare for your festivity.
Lola replied.
đź“žNoted.
Should she just phone the bastard and apologize as she usually does or should she just prove a little bit stubborn?.A reminder rang in her head and she remembered tomorrow was the day she had always been waiting for. She should just let her pride down and make up for their last argument.
As she dialed his number, she had a change of thought. Visiting him surprisingly would be the best shot. Who knows what he might be doing at the moment? She smiled.
Halting her car at his apartment, she made finishing touches on her face and walked right in to the house. She found it rather strange for everywhere to be so quiet.
Putting her bag down and rushing upstairs to check on him. A moaning sound abrupted her steps.Could she be hearing things from afar now?. She shrugged off the thoughts and walked closer to his room.Giving the door a little push, she met the shock of her life.
Chapter FourLola's bag fell off her hands as the two continued with their love making even after they saw her at the door. With trembling hands, she turned to leave without taking her bag when Lucy grabbed her by the collar and pushed her off to the bedside. Taking a rope she walked towards Lola."W.. What are you trying to do?.Let go of me!.Let go of me now!"Lola screamed but it seems her pleas went just on deaf ears as Steve seem to enjoy her scream."Steve told me a lot about you and even how you can't please him, so make sure you watch us real good then maybe after I am satisfied, then you can go home. "Lucy winked at her devishly and walked up to Steve on bed. Lola couldn't stop the tears flowing from her eyes. Could she had ever expected this from someone she called her lover?."Did you ever loved me Steve?.Did you?!."Steve laughed."I guessed you know the answer already. You are just trying to make me speak and I will.I could never have loved such a boring and unattractive lad
Chapter FiveContinous rings on her phone,Lola knew it was none other than Emelia, her mum and those who were expecting her at the engagement party but she wasn't ready to be scolded or insulted. She had decided to do one thing and that is.... Picking up her bag, she headed out. If she said she knew where she was going to, then that was a blatant lie but what matters more was going to a place where no one would notice her presence. Stopping at a shop, she had wanted to ask for a place to go but recalling that her mum would have possibly done things to search for her by all cost, Nora kept on driving. *****************************************Mrs Turner walked up to Emelia who just came in with Chris. Looking at the huge crowd in the hall, her heart sank. "Your friend knows she has to be here even before 7am.Dont tell me she is trying to defy our family rules. ""Ma,Listen to me.Lola caught Steve cheating on her just yesterday and since the time we talked last, I can't seem to find
The gunshots triggered her heart condition, so bad that she fell but she regained her balance as she looked at the boy. The footsteps continued as she tried to make it out of the building, following the door by the left side of the last floor trying to escape. "Don't worry little guy" she said. As Jimmy was struggling to make sense of his site. Remembering the thud she just heard it was clear to her that whoever kidnapped Jimmy is angry and has changed his mind about any peaceful negotiation. With Ronald dead, the boss issued a command that Jimmy should be captured before his father gets to their location. Not knowing someone else is with Jimmy. Lola was a few minutes away from her car as Jimmy started grunting, she put him down and assured him he was going to be safe. "Boss, I think the boy has left the building" "Well, check outside, he could have gone far he's just a boy" "Okay Boss" The guard ran outside with his Gun pinned to his chest, his finger on the trigger in cas
Chapter sevenJason was still passing around in the police station when I called Lola.Lola informs the policeman of what has happened to her and Jimmy the policeman checks the description Jason gave about Jimmy and it matches the one that Lola just stated. She was asked which hospital she was in, she was skeptical at first but when the policeman mentioned that the father is devastated at the police station she budged. When Jason got to the hospital Jimmy was already awake which made it easier for him to be given the permission to see him.[Jason] Jimmy! Thank God you are okay. He gave him a hug and tears rolled his eyes. "I've lost your mother, please I can't lose too"Lola watched struggling not to cry too, even if her sickness wants to take her now, she didn't care, seeing Jimmy United with his dad and their reaction gave her a sense of moral satisfaction and nostalgia for her and her mother while Growing up.********Mrs xell knew whatever Steve did hurt Lola, that she had to run
Chapter 8The keyboard had its own rhythm as Lola Consistently punched the keys, Lost in time. Trying the best she could, to make up for all the days she's been off work. The wine glass stood next to the books that were carefully arranged on the table, dripping wet, from the ice that she mixed with the wine. Work has never been this hectic and life threatening for Lola. And she is not someone to easily give up on something. She would go from the balcony to the fridge to take a look outside or fix herself a drink, the streets has few passerbys but one could really use the gentle touch of the air that makes the skin feel alive in a way, the view always feels like something new whenever she looked, the tall glass buildings and the fumes from the busy factories near the blocks, the anticipation of the sunset. But none of that gave her the relaxation she was hoping for, she dangled the chair searching for ideas as she looked bluntly at the high ceilings. She was stuck, her ideas tanked. Th
Chapter Nine Jason thought that he could use his time alone so he took one of the cars and made a drive to the city to grab a bite. The weather was great and he still had time before duty called, so a few minutes in the city wouldn't be a bad idea. The Chums is not usually a place you would find a person like Jason but something about how they made their dishes reminded him of his own mother's cooking. He got in and made his way straight to the nearest table thinking that if people stared at him for a short time they might recognize him. He took a table and in a minute the waiter came like a flash and took his orders. The Chums is a 49 minutes drive from where he lived but he didn't care, he comes for the food if need be but today it was mostly about his solitude. While waiting for the waiter to arrive with his palate he brought out his phone and dialed "Lola"[Phone ringing][Jason] hello? Emelia and Lola were busy giggling upstairs over their chat when Jason's call arrived Lola w
Chapter TenSteve claimed they had a little misunderstanding about their engagement, pointing out it might be the reason she fled but he knew exactly what made Lola ghost everyone. Back at the hospital it was 12:30PM and Jason had just arrived at the hospital with Daffodils and a card in between that boldly read "hospital gowns look horrible on you, can you permit a rescue?" She read and smiled and he dropped the flowers on the table, just beside the door. She got up and leaned back to the pillow after reading the card and reached out for a hug from Jason. He asked Emelia but was told by Lola that she went home to make something and prepare for her return as he had said earlier that he would be coming to drive her home. Hospital Halls are usually growded by noon, because it's when patients that are making progress in their recovery usually go for a walk around the hospital but from where Lola was admitted, it was different. Her ward was a private one that was separated from the hospi
Chapter eleven "father has never had a big meeting like the one he was in, and he has never met half of the men he saw, he guessed he had a lot to learn, like his father would always say."Mr Kelvin and Lola were busy skulking around the compound while Jason was still puzzled. The compound had a lot of space, enough that the air roamed Free. The villa being built in the mountains outside the city had a lot of trees surrounding it in the Dept of nature which made its surroundings calm and cozy. The leaves swung to any direction the air took them until they got stucked or stepped on by the walks of Lola and Mr Kelvin, the atmosphere was so comforting that it made Lola take deep breaths, Talking about how expensive the houses might be. Mr Kelvin walked behind Lola, encouraging her to take her time in appreciating her view. They got the water fountains at the center of the garden and Lola made her rest. The gardens were carved diligently in shapes and sizes that took Lola time to make s
Jason was receiving an award for his book that he'd published and Jimmy was in the city, so he did the best thing he could before running off to Florence. It has been a long time since he'd been around but the event that had unfolded recently had taught him to spend more time with family. Encaenia took place in the Sheldonian - a long and rambling ceremony conducted in Latin for six distinguished persons though, in Lola's mind, this was a celebration mainly for Jason. At last, he was receiving the recognition he deserved. After the ceremony, she stood and watched him with pride as he mingled with guests. She had met Jason briefly before the ceremony and they had hugged, but hardly spoken; too many people and not enough time. She thought at first that it was perhaps the way it should be, with no time for sentimentalism, but no, she decided that it was not the way it should be. They needed more time. "Do you know all these people?" Malik whispered."No." Lola shook her head, even tho
Night had fallen over Shekina. Jimmy stood alone on the porch of the fieldstone house enjoying the sounds of laughter and reunion drifting through the screened door behind him. The mug of coffee in his hand had granted him hazy reprieve from his mounting exhaustion, and yet he sensed the reprieve would be fleeting. The fatigue in his body went to the core. "You slipped out quietly," a voice behind said.He turned. McEwan's grandmother emerged, her silver hair shimmering in the night. Jimmy gave a tired smile. "I thought I'd give your family some time together." Through the window, he could see McEwan talking with her brother. Sophie's grandmother came beside him. "Mr. Jim, when I first heard of Esquibel's murder, I was terrified for McEwan's sake. Seeing her standing in my doorway tonight was the greatest relief of my life. I cannot thank you enough."Jimmy had no idea how to respond. Although he had offered to give McEwan and her grandmother time to talk in private, she had asked
"Davis?" McEwan was standing outside the car, looking back at him. "Are you coming?" She was holding the rosewood box, which captain Romano had returned to them. Inside, both cryptex had been reassembled and nested as they had been found. The verse was locked safely at its core - minus the shattered vessel of vinegar.Making their way up the long gravel path, Jimmy and McEwan passed the famous west Wall of the chapel. Casual visitors assumed this oddly protruding wall was a section of the chapel that had not been finished. The truth, Jimmy recalled, was far more intriguing. Shekina chapel's entrance was more modest than Jimmy expected. The small wooden door had two iron hinges. The chapel would be closing soon, and as Jimmy pulled open the door, a warm puff of air escaped, as if the ancient edifice were having a weary sigh at the end of a long day. Entering with McEwan, Jimmy felt his eyes reaching across the famous sanctuary and taking it all in. Although he had read accounts of She
The mist had settled low as Amorth limped into a quiet hollow out of sight. Kneeling on the wet grass, he could feel a warm stream of blood flowing from the bullet wound below his ribs. Still, he managed. The fog made it look like heaven here.Raising his bloody hands, he prayed, but most importantly he prayed for his mentor… Myositis… that he would not fade with the sands of time. The fog was swirling around him now, and Amorth felt so light that he was sure the wisps would carry him away. Closing his eyes, he said a final prayer. His pains at last began to fade, and he knew Myositis was right. It was late afternoon when the London sun broke through and the city began to dry. Andrie Romano felt weary as he emerged from the interrogation room and hailed a cab. Sir Albert Rodriguez had noisily proclaimed his innocence, and yet from his loose ranting about the Archstone, secret documents, and mysterious brotherhood, Roman suspected the sly historian was setting the stage for his lawye
Myositis's body had endured many kinds of pain, and yet the searing heat of the bullet wound in his chest felt profoundly foreign to him. Deep and grave. Not a wound of the flesh… but closer to the soul. He opened his eyes, trying to see, but the rain on his face buried his vision. He could feel powerful arms holding him, carrying his limp body like a rag doll, his black cassock flapping. Lifting a weary arm, he mopped his eyes and saw the man holding him was Amorth. He was struggling down a sidewalk, shouting for a hospital, his voice a heart-rending wail of agony. His red eyes were focused dead ahead, tears streaming down his face. "My son," Myositis whispered, "you're hurt." Amorth glanced down, his visage contorted in anguish. "I am sorry sorry, Father." He seemed almost too pained to speak. "No," Myositis replied. "It is I who am sorry. This is my fault. I was too eager. Too fearful. You and I were deceived." Myositis was unconscious when the doors of St Luke's hospital hiss
Jimmy and McEwan moved slowly down the north aisle, keeping the shadows behind the ample pillars that separated it from the open nave. Despite having traveled more than halfway down the nave, they still had no clear view of the tomb. The sarcophagus was recessed in a niche, obscured from this oblique angle."At least there's nobody over there," McEwan whispered.Jimmy nodded, relieved. The entire section of the nave near Klaus' tomb was deserted. "I'll go over," he whispered. "You should stay hidden just in case someone-"McEwan had already stepped from the shadows and was headed across the open floor."-is watching," Jimmy sighed, hurrying to join her.Crossing the massive nave on a diagonal, Jimmy and McEwan remained silent as the elaborate sepulcher revealed itself in Tantalus increments… a black-marble sarcophagus… a reclining statue of Klaus… two winged boys… a huge pyramid… and… an enormous orb."Did you know about that?" McEwan said, sounding startled.Jimmy shook his head, als
Jimmy had not gotten his eyes off the computer screen since the search began. He was starting to get worried.Anita Istredd was in the adjoining room, preparing hot drinks. Jimmy and Sophie had inquired unwisely if there might be some coffee brewing alongside the tea Istredd had offered, and from the sound of the microwave beeps in the next room, Jimmy suspected their request was about to be rewarded with instant Nescafe. Finally, the computer pinged happily."Sounds like you got another," Istredd called from the next room. "What does it say?"Jimmy looked at the screen, disappointed. They sat patiently in front of the screen and waited through two more dubious returns. When the computer pinged again, nothing interesting happened.Istredd peeked back in the doorway, holding a packet of instant coffee. "You don't want the full text," Istredd called. "Click on the hypertext title. The computer will display your keyword hits along with mono prelogs and triple post logs for context."Jim
Copus peccate's headquarter in London is a modest brick building. Amorth had never been here, but he felt a rising sense of refuge and asylum as he approached the building on foot. Despite the rain, Beardsley had dropped him off a short distance away in order to keep the limousine off the main Streets. Amorth didn't mind the walk. The rain was cleansing. At Beardsley's suggestion, Amorth had wiped down his gun and dispose of it through the sewer grate. He was glad to get rid of it. He felt lighter. His legs still ache from being bound all the time, but he had endured far greater pain. He wondered, though, about Rodriguez, who Beardsley had left bound in the back of the limousine. The Briton certainly had to be feeling pain by now."What will you do with him?" Amorth had asked Beardsley as they drove over here.Beardsley had shrugged. "That is a decision the Teacher would make." There was an odd finality in his tone. Now, as Amorth approached the building, the rain began to fall harder
Jimmy still felt shaken as he and McEwan came from the rain and entered the library. The primary research room was as Rodriguez had described it - a dramatic octagonal chamber dominated by an enormous round table with twelve flat-screen computer workstations. On the far side of the room, a reference librarian was just pouring a pot of tea and settling in for the day of work. "Good morning," she said in a beautiful British accent, leaving the tea and walking over. "May I help you?""Thank you, yes please," Jimmy replied. "My name is-""Jimmy Davis." She gave a pleasant smile. "I know who you are."For instance, he feared Romano had put him on English television as well, but the librarian's smile suggested otherwise. Jimmy had not gotten used to these moments of unexpected celebrity. Then again, if anyone on earth were going to recognize his face, it would be a Librium in a religious studies reference facility."Anita Istredd," the librarian said, offering her hand. She had a friend
