Chapter 4

Author: South Wind Dialect
As her thoughts ran wild, Diana suddenly felt a cool feeling on her legs. She lowered her head and saw that it was Julian, who was applying ointment for her.

His indifference when he mentioned the divorce was gone, and he was basically half-kneeling on the ground in order to find the most comfortable angle for her. It was very difficult for his long legs to be between the ground and the edge of the bed.

Yet, he was still as elegant as ever.

His fingertips were slightly cold, but she could feel his hot breaths when he said, “Remember to apply the ointment three times a day in the future.”

He wouldn’t be helping her anymore.

Diana caught on to the implication behind his words, but she couldn’t tell whether she felt happy or bitter at this moment.

She hurriedly looked away lest her reluctance would be revealed. She pretended to be calm and said, “I got it.”

There was no reason she wouldn’t do things good for her.

“Albert.” Julian heaved a sigh of relief for no reason when he heard Diana’s answer. However, he also felt a little sense of loss.

Had Diana adapted to the change so quickly?

It seemed that she didn’t need him at all and that she could still lead a good life without him.

A hint of dissatisfaction flashed across his eyes, causing the atmosphere turn to cold. He said in a louder voice, “Come in and clean her room.”

Diana found it quite odd.

Not only was Julian’s mood unpredictable today, but he also gave a weird order — as the butler, Albert was not obliged to do such trivial things as cleaning the room.

Albert was obviously stumped as well. He thought he had misheard it, so he asked, “Sir, should I arrange for someone to come in and clean the room now?”

“What?” Julian had a sharp look in his eyes as he looked at Albert, and his cold voice became even more domineering as he asked, “Will it tire you out to let you clean Madam’s room?”

He had never been so aggressive toward Albert before.

Albert broke out in a cold sweat. He looked at Diana lying on the bed and then at Julian, who was still organizing the medical kit personally. Suddenly, he seemed to catch on to Julian’s words.

“Sir…”

He did not understand why Julian was still concerned about Diana when Kayla was back. Kayla was obviously the person Julian loved.

Diana was just a substitute.

She was supposed to leave the Fulcher family as soon as possible.

Julian should be with Kayla, a pure girl who had lived a simple life.

Diana wasn’t even liked by her own biological parents. She wasn’t good enough for Julian at all.

However, Julian brushed off Albert’s doubts.

He simply snapped, “Albert, you must know your place, regardless of whether we divorce or not.”

No matter how long Albert had worked for him, he should not be making any decision for him.

Besides, Albert should not have treated Diana so coldly.

At this moment, Albert finally understood.

Even though he still felt unfair for Kayla, he still lowered his head and said, “Madam, I’m sorry for stopping you outside the old mansion today…”

That banquet was held for Kayla, and Julian’s servants, who had been by Julian’s and Kayla’s sides since their childhood, also attended it.

All of Julian’s friends were there, too.

Therefore, Albert had thought that Diana would be completely abandoned.

He naturally couldn’t hide the contempt in his heart, and he also didn’t want Diana to ruin Kayla’s good mood.

Unexpectedly, Julian noticed all he did.

On top of that, Julian even perceived that Albert was a little slow when he brought the medical kit just now.

Albert was on edge. For a while, he couldn’t wrap her mind around Julian’s thoughts.

Then again, he had never been able to get Julian’s thoughts since Julian began wearing the pants in the Fulcher family.

It would be better for him to obey all of Julian’s commands without fail.

Diana felt a little uneasy when the old man apologized to her with his head lowered. She quickly waved at him as she said, “It’s… It’s okay, Albert…”

Albert usually treated her well.

What’s more, Albert was already an old man. She could not bear to embarrass him and make things difficult for him.

What made her happy was the fact that Julian was still protecting her. From Julian’s words, Diana could tell that Julian hadn’t given the order to stop her from attending the banquet today. It was Albert who had taken the liberty of doing it.

She was on cloud nine. She grabbed Julian’s sleeves immediately and spoke up for Albert. “Honey… Albert has already apologized to me, so why don’t you let him go back to his room and rest?”

Her voice was soft and delicate, and it sounded like it could enchant a person’s soul when they heard it.

She would often do this in the past whenever Julian was angry, and it would always make him soft-hearted.

However, he did not like her using such a soft voice to speak up for others.

“Diana!” he said solemnly. “Don’t speak to me like that ever again in the future.”

Her hand, that was tugging at his sleeve, suddenly hovered for a moment.

She suppressed the sadness, then smiled, and replied yes.

How could she have forgotten that he just asked for a divorce!

Even if he defended her firmly in front of the hardworking Albert, and even if he was treating her the same way he did before and was so concerned about her over a small bruise, he still couldn’t hide the fact that they were about to get a divorce.

He did not want her anymore.

This was a fact that she had to accept, and she wasn’t qualified to act coquettishly in front of him anymore.

Her hand dropped at that moment.

She was the one who had crossed the line.

Julian didn’t like such intimacy anymore.

He was probably still treating her this way today because of his good manners.

It had nothing to do with love.

Diana felt pangs of pain in her heart.

But she still kept smiling, but what she said was cold. “When shall we get it done in the City Hall?” she uttered.

It took her tremendous courage to bring herself to say that.

Since he wanted a divorce, she would cooperate with him.

However, Julian was rooted to the spot for a moment.

After a long time, he finally came to his senses.

He looked at Diana’s expressionless face; she looked as if to her, their marriage could simply be discarded casually.

This woman was far more decisive than he thought!

He grew even angrier as he furrowed his brows, looking terrifying. He fixed his eyes on Diana and snarled, “You can’t wait to divorce me already, can you?!”

Diana was rather confused.

Wasn’t he the one who had asked for a divorce?

Was it even wrong for her to give what he wanted?

Diana couldn’t make heads or tails of what was in his mind. She didn’t want to make herself waver again, nor did she want to mistakenly think that he still loved her that she would come up with all kinds of ridiculous excuses to defend him. Therefore, she brought herself to say, “I don’t want much… If you want a divorce, then I’ll choose…”

Julian sneered mockingly.

She was starting to tell him her conditions now?

He had really underestimated her!

It turned out that he and his marriage with Diana couldn’t compare to the divorce conditions he proposed!

It was only thirty million dollars, yet it could tempt her so easily. She was so eager to raise the price!

Heh.

He was the one who had gotten it wrong. How could such a materialistic woman be compared to Kayla?!

“He doesn’t need to be jailed,” Fanny said, confused. “One word from him, and his lawyers will be able to exonerate him. The stars in the sky?Fanny felt indignant under his glare. “If you like me, why did you say that I’m just a child-bearing tool for you?”“If I didn’t say that, would I be able to keep you confined in the villa?
