8 - TOO BUSY TO LIVE

2024-10-29 19:42:56"Hey! Hey!! Bucket!!!" Jade whispered as she tapped a sleeping Shawn. He shrugged away her hand and changed his sleeping position. Giving an evil smirk, she stood up and walked into the restroom. She wet a face towel and took it into the room. She took one look at Shawn as he lay on the bed, clinging onto the pillow, before placing the wet towel over his face.
Shawn jumped up from the bed immediately and she burst into laughter. He had a confused look on his face as he stared blankly at her. After a few seconds, he remembered where he was and began rubbing his eyes and face, trying to get rid of the traces of drool.
Jade laughed a bit more before standing up and walking to the door. She opened the door then turned back to look at him, still amused at his naivety. "Wash up and come out for breakfast. I've decided on what I want you to do." She mused before walking away and closing the door.
Shawn breathed a sigh of relief

Shawn's eyes widened and his jaw dropped as he stared at Jade. She was wearing the violet-colored gown he had picked out for her. He hadn't expected her to wear the dress but she did and she was looking stunning in it. The shade matched her skin color and together with her messy bun and bright eyes, Shawn felt she looked like a doll.His lips curled up into a smile as he noticed the contrast between the bitchy Goth at school and his adorable best friend. Soon, the taxi arrived at their destination - Dreamyland Amusement Park. They got of the taxi and walked into the park. Jade excused herself and went to pay for tickets, leaving Shawn to admire the place.Shawn felt emotional as he looked around. The park was just like he'd imagined it to be. From the smell of candy in the air and the colorful environment to the costumed characters walking around the park, it was almost how he'd imagined it to be. The only slight difference was that it was a Wednesday and there weren't many people at the park.He took a deep breath in as he thought of how he'd longed to visit here. How his parents had made empty promises to him whenever he'd asked them to take him. JADED 12 - HE WAS TO BLAME
The ride home was quiet. Jade sat in the taxi looking at her phone, her face devoid of any emotion. Shawn sat beside her, leaning his head on the glass and staring at his reflection. He was blaming himself for what had happened.Jade was beautiful. Although her beauty did not appeal to him romantically, it did to others. She had been harassed in his presence a lot of times before. It was probably why she always had on a Gothic makeup. It repelled people from her. But he made her take off her protective layer. He definitely was to blame.He knew she was mad. Even though she seemed very calm on the outside, she was certainly burning inside. He wished she would say it out. He wanted her to blame him. To scold him. Or at least show her emotions. But he knew she wouldn't.He just sat there silently, watching the lights on the streets and shops as the taxi sped through the roadway. When it eventually stopped in front of her house, he was reluctant to come out.
JADED 13 - HE WHO STAYED
Jade muffled a grunt as she stood up from the floor where she had fallen. She cursed at herself for not cleaning the floor where she had spilled water earlier. Now it had made her slip when she had an important business to take care of. However, she decided not to clean it.She made her way out as quietly as she could, trying to ignore the pain in her upper back. As she stepped out into the darkness of the backyard, she merged into the darkness. She was dressed in black cargo pants and jacket, and leather boots. Her black hair was tied up in a ponytail and was covered by a black cap. Around her waist was a leather bag and on her hands were black leather gloves.She ran to the fence and jumped over it into the neighbor's house. Then she went out through the open gate into the roadway. She waved down a taxi immediately and entered into it, careful not to alert her bodyguards. The taxi driver gave her suspicious looks but he still drove her to her destination anyway.
JADED 14 - LAZY BEST FRIEND
“Please!!!” Shawn pleaded, his eyes widening as he stared up at Jade. Turning her back to him, Jade continued eating her cereal, chewing as quickly as she could so she could disappear from Shawn's sight. She was sure to lose her temper if he continued pestering her.“Forget it, Shawn. I'm not teaching you anything.” Jade said as Shawn came to squat in front of her. She placed her plate to her mouth and used her spoon to push the remaining food into her mouth. Chewing slowly, she stood up and made her way into the kitchen, trying to ignore the fact that Shawn was following her around.He stood by the counter watching her as she rinsed her bowl and put it back with the others. Jade grunted as she made her way up the stairs. Clenching on tightly to her bleeding stomach, she tried to walk steadily over the stairs. However, with her spinning head and wobbly legs, she found it impossible to do so. And before she realized it, she fell from the fifth step.Even though the fall wasn't much of a distance, it aggravated her condition. Shawn trudged slowly along the street, his phone in his hand, praying for a call from Jade. He hoped she'd stop being difficult and let him by her side. Even though he knew it would never happen, he still wished she could go back to being the carefree yet lovable girl he used to know. He wished he could reverse time. He would make sure she never got hurt.But these were all wishful thinking. Jade had changed and was never going to call him back and if he doesn't return to his home, he'd have to sleep on the streets. He hated the idea of returning to his home. Jade tapped her feet impatiently on the floor as she scrolled through Netflix, searching for something to watch. None appealed to her as her mind was preoccupied with Shawn. It was almost 9 pm and he still hadn't returned. He hadn't even sent her a text to inform her of his job or that he wanted to move out.Now that Sergio was away, and only his mom was home, it made sense for him to accompany her. She was being selfish to hope he would still stay with her. To hope he would choose her over his mom. To think she meant anything to him.All his smooth talks about being best friends were to get something from her. He was just looking for a place to stay. Maybe, he had intentionally shared in her punishment to get her to trust him. He was a smart kid and always weighed his decisions carefully. He had a backup plan for his backup plan. Jade scratched her head as she walked down the stairs. She hadn't looked in a mirror since she woke up but she was sure she looked very untidy. She had overslept and had had a pleasant dream. Her mouth was plastered with dried drool and her hair was in a tangled mess. Her eyes were probably swollen from her very long and peaceful sleep. She knew she was supposed to wash up first but she woke up feeling very thirsty. If she didn't drink water, she reasoned she'd turn to stone.
