CHAPTER THIRTEEN: Another Secret

I stole a glance at jack as he focus on driving to the direction i told him.

I have expected him to ask questions but he didn't which has surprise me.

If he is very scared about loosing his sister and the baby he didn't show it.

I cough slightly to gain his attention.

" Are you not eager to hear how i met her ? " I asked him as i stare ahead.

" That would be later " He replied calmly and he remain silent.

It was not a long drive and we finally arrived at the hospital.

He quickly unbuckle his seat belt and was about to  step out , I wanted to follow when he turn towards me.

" No, you don't need to come " he said urgently that i stop getting up and gaze at him blankly.

" Excuse me? " I said not sure if i heard him right.

" Stay in the car " He order without Expression.

" And why would i? You can't order me around just because you are a professional swimmer and a business tycoon... " 

" Don't make this anymore harder than it has to be " he half yell.

I shudder as he turn to me with steady eyes.

" Are you not the super model of claw foot club? " He asked.

I cocked an eyebrow and stare at him.

Why is he asking me an obvious question?

" Yes, i am. If you haven't been so impatient i would have introduce myself. I'm Jillian Don " i told him angrily.

" Save the sarcasm I'm not in the mood to get into an argument with Claw foot club employee " He throw back and i scoff at his word. 

Claw foot club employee???

Oh that hurt my ego, i stare at him angrily and he roll his eyes.

" It will do no good for you and your career if the words go out that you're seen with Jack Mayor. Your sponsor won't appreciate it if he learn you're with his enemy. Obviously he might think you are conspiring with me to take him down " He said stiffly and Walk out of the car towards the hospital , leaving me surprised and shock.

He sure is so arrogant and annoying. I said aloud to myself.

No wonder Maureen decided not to go to him that night.

Jack's Pov

I walk into the hospital and marched towards the receptionist but before i could reached there i heard my name and i turn to see two men.

Good,  the elderly one  must be the father of that beautiful model. I said to myself.

I walk towards them and i shook hands with both of them.

" How's she? Where's the doctor? " I asked impatiently.

" The doctor is still with her. It is only a matter of time before he emerges. I am han. Where's jilly ? " Han asked eagerly.

" She's outside , it will do no good if she is seen with me " 

" You're right " Don replied

Just then the doctor  emerges and walk towards us.

" She's doing good. She survive. " He said smiling proudly.

I sighed in relieve and asked urgently.

" How's the baby ? " 

The doctor smile brightly and i already get the answer.

" The baby is doing well too " he replied smiling.

I laugh in happiness but stop immediately as i heard someone gasp.

" Isn't that Jack Mayor , The swimmer? " the lady said to her friend who stood beside her watching me with seductive eyes.

I smile uneasily at them, in my moment of haste i have forgotten that i have many fans around here.

" I think we should go to my office to have a conversation, it will be easier that way " the doctor says and we all follow him to his office.

He didn't offer us a seat and I'm very sure none of us is eager to sit either.

He look at me and smile.

" It's an honor to meet you Jack Mayor.  I'm joan, Honestly I'm your fan " 

I smile brightly to him but didn't say anything because i have this hunch he have more to say.

" She will be discharge tomorrow. All she needs is just enough rest " 

I smile happily to hear that. The thought of my sister being alive and her baby alive as well is very overwhelming.

I smile brightly to him.

" Let her stay here till tomorrow then. Can i see her ? " I asked eagerly.

" Of course, you can " doctor joan said and i nodded.

He led us to the room Maureen was laying down on the bed. She seems so much at peace as she lay on the bed sleeping.

I walk towards her and stare down at her white face.

I held out a hand and touch her cheek slowly before withdrawing it.

I turn to Don , joan and han.

" Thanks a lot for saving her. I honestly don't know how to repay you for this " i told them sincerely.

" You can repay me by paying the hospital bills " Joan said to me jokingly and i smile.

" Of course i will,i have to go now. I will be back as soon as possible " i told them , i thank them again before leaving the hospital and Walk towards my car.

I sat down behind the wheel and smile at jill.

" She's alive and well " i told her.

" Really? " I heard her asked surprised.

" And the baby ? " 

" The baby is alive as well. " 

I heard her sigh and i turn to her fully.

" Thank you a lot for helping her out , is there anyway i can repay you for this? " I asked her with innocent face.

She look at me uneasily and my heart leap with joy.

I don't really like bragging but I can't help it.

My charm is surely working on this lady as well.

I laughs at her nervousness.

" Have anyone told you your eyes are unnecessarily too big Jill ? " I said to her huskily and i watched her look away quickly.

" What are you talking about? " Jill answered pretending to be busy with her hair.

" Nevermind, i think i will have to go back to your house because my sister credit card is there and her cellphone " 

" Oh yes, you have to. I will accompany you" 

I look at her and smile. 

It is very unusual for me to flirt or smile at anyone but the situation right now won't let me stay calm. 

" Don't you have any schedule today? " I asked raising an eyebrow in question.

" I have but I'm cancelling them " 

" Because of me ? " I asked her smiling.

She turn to me and Scoff.

" No, Because of your sister. Now if you will be so kind , we need to start going " 

I started the car in response and drove off to Don's house.

The drive was silent and i appreciate it.

I alighted from the car as we reach our Destination.

She lead the way and i followed.

I stepped into the living room and look around as I waited for her to bring out Maureen's credit card and cellphone.

She emerges from a room moment later with confusion written all over her face.

" This are the drugs she bought this morning " i heard her say and i walk up to her.

I received the drugs from her shaky hands and peer into them.

It isn't an abortion pills and none were taken yet.

I creases my face in confusion and shock.

" What does this mean ? " Jill asked me.

I turn to her with clenched jaw.

" It means someone tried to kill the baby and the person isn't my sister "
