My chest was now tightly against his, his face inches from mine, and his arm around my waist. He didn't say a word as he stared down at me, licking his lips.Gah! What I wouldn't give to nibble that bottom lip right now. I wanted to taste him again. Hell, I dreamed of that kiss last night."Breakfast is outside," he rasped out, "thought you should know."He let go of me and left the kitchen, the annoying girl right behind him, and I stood there in complete shock. How does he still affect me so much after so many years?! I have worked diligently to get Asher Creed out of my head and I was doing a really good job at it! And then he comes back into my life like a freight train and I can't even keep my shit together. This is going to be the longest weekend in history.~~~~~~After breakfast a few of us stayed sitting outside near the outdoor fireplace sipping on our coffees. The morning was beautiful and the air was crisp.I looked around at everyone who was sitting around and smiled.Har
Fury ran through me unlike anything I'd ever felt. I felt like I was 17 all over again, but I'm not 17 years old anymore! I'm a grown ass adult! And there was no way I was going to letAsher Creed treat me like this again! No. He was going to get the tongue lashing he always deserved. When I had the courage to move my feet and bombard on him, Harper yelled at me."What the hell are you doing?! Why aren't you dressed?"I spun to find her glaring at me with her hands on her hips. She was wearing everything but her wedding gown and my heart dropped. Was it that time already?"What time is it?" I asked confused. I didn't think I was in my room for that long, but it also wouldn't surprise me. When I got into my work, I tended to lose track of time."It's time for your pretty little ass to get dressed and meet us downstairs!" She sounded frantic and I wanted to calm her down but no amount of calming words were going to break Harper from her rampage. "The hairdresser just got here so hurry up
"What's wrong? You seem tense..." He was studying my face but I held my fake smile and pushed off of him."It's a tense evening. I don't like being in front of all these people." Which wasn't a lie. I hated when all eyes were on me, even if it were just for a split second.I moved away from him and found my spot at the table. I couldn't help but notice that Asher looked troubled as he took his own spot, looking at me with confusion. He turned his gaze toward Harper and Tate as they made their grand entrance and I turned my attention to them as well.We made it through dinner and now it was time to party, and damn did I need this. Before Asher could come near me, I jumped up from my spot at the table and stormed toward the bar where I ordered two shots and sucked them down like water."More, please." I stared at the hired bartender who was grinning at me. He was cute too.He poured me two more shots when he looked just over my shoulder. "For you sir?"I didn't have to look to know that
"What are you talking about, Layla?" He was doing a good job at portraying that he really didn't know what I was talking about. Either he didn't, or he stepped up his game in the last seven years."Don't treat me like an idiot, Asher. I wasn't born yesterday." I tried to push away from him but he held me tighter to his chest."Don't walk away from me. I don't think you're an idiot. I honestly don't know what the hell you're talking about!" He looked hurt, angry, and confused."This afternoon," I breathed out, looking around the room before adding, "I was coming to your room but when I stepped out into the hallway, Abby came out wearing only a towel and giggled like an idiot..." I looked away but Asher grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him."And you think I was with Abby." It wasn't a question, but a statement, and I slowly nodded. "You really do still think I'm an asshole, don't you?"I let out a snorting laugh as I tried to look away, but he only held my chin tighter. "Well, y
My heart pounded against my chest. I wanted to stay with him, yet another part of me scolded my current state of mind. This was Asher Creed we're talking about here.He could say he's changed all he wanted, but I still needed him to show me proof and jumping into bed with him wasn't how I should go about this. Not yet anyways."Okay..." I breathed, my mind screaming at me but my body was doing the talking right now.He grinned down at me before he lowered his lips to mine once again. Gah, he tasted so good."Let's go." He grabbed my hand but I allowed my mind to take over just for a moment."We can't go right now! We're in the wedding party! People will get suspicious if we go missing."He stopped and stared at me. "We aren't kids anymore, Stanford. We don't have to hide our attraction to one another anymore. I don't care if people know. Let them." Then he stepped so close to me I could feel his breath on my neck. "If you don't come now I'm bound to take you right here and right now a
I didn't remember falling asleep last night, but when I woke it was early morning. The sun barely came up over the horizon, and Asher was still fast asleep next to me.Very quietly, I slipped out of bed and found my gown on the floor. I slipped back into it as quietly as I could, and then stopped to stare at Asher in bed.He looked so peaceful and lovely. His tousled hair was sexy and I wanted to run my hand through it again, but I didn't. His tattooed arms rested next to his head as the sheet came up just below his navel, the V disappeared into the sheet to what I knew laid beneath it, and my mouth watered at the memory of last night.I turned and left the room as I headed back to my own so I could change out of the gown and hopefully get in a walk before everyone woke up.My room was barely lit from the rising sun as I made my way in. I saw Mark asleep in the bed and when I squinted my eyes I saw two other people lying with him. Tate's colleague and... was that the date he brought?
"Oh, but that blonde hooker is?"Asher sighed. "Don't call her that. You should leave, Abby."Ah-ha! So it was Abby he was talking to. What the fuck was going on here?!"I should leave?! No. You should leave...with me. Please. Let's go home!""There is no home for us!! We're through!!" Asher's voice was loud now and he sounded pissed. "I don't know why my sister invited you but I certainly don't want you here.""You're an asshole." Her voice was filled with emotion and then I heard heels click across the floor as they got quieter the farther away she walked.I took a deep breath and went into the kitchen."Did you forget my coffee?" I tried to sound as normal as possible. When I turned to look at Asher, he studied me as if he was waiting for something. He pushed away from the counter and stepped up next to me at the coffee pot."Sorry. I got distracted," he finally mumbled."So, Abby huh?" "There it is," he sighed out, "You did hear then..."I turned toward him and he studied my face
He looked like a scolded child as I stormed across his room and stopped at the edge of his bed."You have humiliated me for the last time, Asher Creed.""Layla, I'm...""Shut up," I scolded and held up my hand."You have to believe me. I would never...""If you cut me off one more time, I'm going to make you regret it." I glared at him. "Now like I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted not once but twice... is that you have humiliated me for the last time, Asher. You've hurt me worse than anyone could ever hurt me on more than one occasion. You've dragged me through the mud more times than. I'd like to admit." He looked so sad right now, but I continued on, "and when most people would turn their back and run for the hills. I didn't. And you want to know why?""Yes," he whispered."Because I fucking love you. I still love you after all these years and I can't stop no matter how hard I try. You've always been it for me, Asher. Even when people told me to stay away or tried to ke
