AIDEN'S POV

"We're close. The village should be just an hour away." Theo passed me the bottle of water when we made a short stop to refresh ourselves and let the tired muscles rest.

Our destination was far from our home, in the east and safely hidden in the density of wild forest. The lone wolves' community led a simple life, living only from what nature itself provided. They were skilled farmers, as rumor had it. Some chose to apply for seasonal jobs, commuting to the south where humans lived. But in the end, they always returned to their natural habitat deep in the woods. They were former pack members who didn't know how to fit in, didn't share the same values and beliefs, hence leaving the safe embrace of a pack life. They were also wolves who were banished or ran away from the enslaving methods of their leaders.
