Reed’s pov
“What is it Asher? Just spit it already.” I asked annoyingly as he stopped the car on the gates. We were back to my pack. technically, we never left the pack, we were just on ther farther end of my land which was yet to be industrialized. And now we are here.
“The guards want to check in, they have my orders to check each and every car, even one I am in.” he said and put the windshield down to show his face to the guards. My chest swell with pride, knowing how good Asher is in his job and same for my people. they all are working so hard.
“Sorry to disrupt but we want to see who’s in the backseat.” The guard said, his head low in respect and I know he was trying so hard not to waver in front of Asher. I smiled proudly and revealed my face.
“You are doing great job.” I said in appreciation.
“Gratitude.” They bowed their heads and opened the gates for us. Asher drive us t
Reed’s pov “Put the bottles in fridge, I guess Derek didn’t had time to buy the groceries. Hope he got some ice.” I carried the bag to the hall and Asher followed me. We reached the pack house or technically the crime scene. We have been here for two days, the traces of murder and everything have been wiped off, except for the rotten smell of the blood. It looks as fresh as daisy, yet the walls cry the horrors. I checked the time, it was ten past ten, the infamous death time. Diana said she will be come by witches’ hour, which means I still have roughly two hours. Now, seeing the current situation, I have two jobs. Calling Hecate as ordered by Diana or sit and just get drunk with Asher. Despite my intention to live a little I dropped the second idea. Plus, we preferred cold beers. Asher returned from the kitchen, already busy in his phone. something was eating him; I can see that. I thought not to interrupt him. Asher
Reed’s pov “I am surprised you summoned me.” her voice sharp as freshly cut diamonds reached my ears and it take every ounce of my will power not to flinch in front of her. I turned slowly, making sure not to look at her face directly. My eyes caught the first sight of her feet. On her feet, Hecate wore silver sandals; her greaves cover her legs completely, and they are incredibly sturdy. The greaves are fastened with an extra strap across the top, probably for the easy removal. I turned my gaze up, slowly. She was dressedin white robes with ornate silver designs, like runes or alchemy symbols, she never wears robes like that. I gathered all my strength and finally look up to meet her eyes. I don’t know why but I was feeling guilty to look in her eyes. now, I have a conscience? I mentally face palmed myself as there is no time for regret. I call her, now no holding back. She has green andblack hair that ba
Reed’s povI opened my eyes once I was sure it was safe. Once my feet finally make the contact with the ground. Seriously, I am not even angry now. Every fucking time, does something like that.I sighed tiredly, already fed up with her mind games, I know how it work, after all I was the personal experiment of hers for years. And now I have dragged Asher with me in this mess. Asher was right behind me and there was no sign of Hecate. I looked around and immediately regretted my decision to asked for help from her.“Where are we?” Asher asked genuinely confused, I could easily sense the feeling if distress in his voice. it was the witches’ graveyard. He looked around suspiciously and so do I. I have been here before, I remembered this place in the back of my head.“Don’t breath from your nose, it will make you nauseous. We are in witches’ territory.” I said ad started walking ahead passing thr
Reed's Pov“So, she did come after all huh?” Diana asked as she walked past the circle, examining the ingredients and finally stopped in front of me. she held her hand out for me which I took willingly and stood on my feet.I nodded as the answer to her previous question and she hummed, look lost in her thoughts.“Don’t worry about him. he will be alright. Hecate won’t kill him. In fact, that will be easier for him then.” She said and I narrowed my eyes.“He knows what he was gotten himself into. You can’t save him.” she said and raised her hands in defence. She knows I know she cared for him too but she didn’t want to show it. We are in a huge mess and nothing can be straightened out if don’t wrap our minds around the single task we have on our hands now.“Where is August?” I asked fearing if she also made some shady deal with some goddess
Reed’s pov I lifted the lifeless body of the boy. What was his name again? Liam. If my memory serves me correct, the girl who died before called him Liam. His body was cold like ice and his skin was tough now probably due to rigor mortis. Asher must have gone all the way back to their pack to pick his body. I can tell Diana must have find him because nobody other than me and August knew where he was. we didn’t remember telling her either. Maybe she asked August after he left with her. I clutched his body tighter. Liam was an alpha blood so he deserves a proper funeral like his father. He will be buried alongside his family in my pack, not like the others nameless graves we dug for others. I will make sure of that. that’s only thing I could do now. If only I was much more attentive, if only I was one step ahead to think about the next move of Ravenna. If o
Reed’s pov “Fuck.” I can’t believe my eyes. It actually worked. The boy I carried myself from the car’s trunk. I swear he was not breathing a minute ago and now. now he was living proof of the fact that Diana could not only raise the dead but is truly capable of doing something so powerful. The boy slowly blinked; he first look at himself as if not believing where he is. His eyes soon finds the circle surrounding him and for a second, I saw the candle flickered and his eyes darkened. It was gone in split second. I blinked back to look at the boy and before I could register the boy was on his feet trying to get out if the circle. He started punching through the air but his hands were restricted in the circle. That was why Diana told me my circle was not powerful. Hecate walked through them without any problem. But then she was a goddess. we are dealing with an undead here. “Where am I?” the boy growle
Reed’s pov“I hope your soul found peace now and may you rest among side your family.” I put the final sand on the ground with the shovel and make it even until, I was sure. I had to put the tombstone here to mark it as a proper grave.Derek and his wife’s body have been already buried alongside Liam. My heart felt heavy for the loss. I offered Derek a part of my land and what did he got in return, his whole family doomed to death, including his whole pack. Not a single survivor left to tell what actually happened to them. countless lives, men, women, children, not a single live spared. “You are quite good at this now. aren’t you?” I heard the sound of the person I don’t want to talk right now. Not at this moment. My heart screeched beneath my chest just to her voice.“First Selene, then Andrew, his wife, his son. How many can die i
Reed’s povI put my foot on the gas peddle and drive ahead, my gaze soon find the smoke coming from the direction of the pack house and I know Diana did the job. She light the whole place to fire to erase everything. As much as I hate to see it. I have to do it. I can’t trust Ravenna. she is a epitome of evil. I can ask Diana to find out by incantation but that will only ask for more time. time I don’t have a luxury to waste anymore.Ravenna is nifty, she might have cursed someone of their pack member before leaving them for me to find out, they died on my place and might cause something harmful to my land or my people. Only the fire can purify what she had done. I rubbed my eyes and turned the steering.I can’t trust Ravenna. She is wicked and the most powerful now, considering she had the blade. Hecate won’t interfere as she already went rogue and decided to leave the coven. Hecate is a deity and a witch bu
Esma’s pov“Do you happen to recognize it? hohoho, you have pretty sharp eyes for a warrior.” He said.He looked at us, eyeing our reactions, he doesn’t know our identities yet.“Well, but it doesn’t mean that we won’t sell information so there’s no need to be disappointed.” I raised my eyebrows.“if you promise me that you have no ulterior motives in trying to figure out the location of the head of the enlightened one and pay for that information, I will tell you.” he said And smiled evilly. As if proving his words right we heard many footsteps outside the room.“We are surrounded, judging from their sounds, there seems to be thirty of them.” August said. Mr. M walked towards Dumeny.“Dumeny Ross. I heard you returned recently to the lawless city of slab. You were the hired assassin worked as a lone wolf (It’s a metaphor for someone who works alone). I heard you left your past life behind and joined your family business.”“And…” the guy named Mr. M walked towards me and August.“I am
Esma’s pov There are seven continents in the world. separated by sea, ocean and mountains. Among them, there are countless factions and small packs. However, there are four heavenly packs who guides and governs them and are literally called themselves the powerhouses. The blue moon pack governed by us in the south. My father and his ancestors were the one who settled themselves hundreds of years ago and established themselves as one of the powerhouses. Then there’s Black claw pack in the north, the most ancient and the most powerful pack, rich in diversity and resources from the very start. To the west, the unorthodox faction of Rogues which are not governed by the laws of the packs and are referred as barbarians. They long lost their sanity and ability to change themselves back to humans. And lastly, there is the Mountain keepers in the east. It is the pack of Dumeny. The world of werewolves have been divided among these four great forces for hundreds of years and the border are
Esma’s povMe and August soon leave the house. we have been working nonstop since we have come together to maintain the stability within our pack. if it was not for the alpha blood and both of us the wolves in our pack would have gone rogue. It was pure luck that we both were present in the pack at the same time, if not, I couldn’t dare to think what would happen to my people.I mind linked Asher when I was done with organising my pack. Asher appeared before me in no time.“You called?” he said no beating around the bush with him.I sighed and told him everything we discussed with Dumeny. He listened to everything in silence.“I have heard about this city. If Diana is there, it won’t be easy to get her out.” he said and I hummed. I already know about it. To rescue a witch from the city of the witch hunters.“We will think of something.” I said although I was assuring myself.“What are your orders for me?” he said. “I will follow to hell although we just came back from there.” he said a
Esma’s pov“You are certain they will be there.” I nodded and look him into the eyes.“Then, let’s get those bastards for what they have to done to us.” Dumeny growled.I clutched August’s hand in mine as I said yes too.“I have a plan.” Dumeny said in the end.“What kind of plan?” I asked looking at his face. now that I notice him, he have grown a quite in the few days since I saw him. his eyes, they were no longer belong to a carefree man whom I once used to know. They have a serious sense of duty and responsibility. Plus, I don’t know I have a ere feeling coming from his side, I don’t know how to put it in words, but he has changed a lot.In terms of power, he was already in par with an alpha. He might be powerful than his father.I rarely find myself getting out unscathed if fought against him. he has grown rapidly since last time I saw him.“We have to attack them simultaneously. Just like they did. We have to make them think and divert their attention on someone or something and
Esma’s pov“Hey Dumeny. Long time no see.” I said as I saw him standing in the middle of the hall in my house.Last time I saw him, it was the alpha’s meeting and after that I was kidnapped by Ravenna and the witches.I never heard from him after that. Hell, I didn’t saw him after that.“Same for me.” he said and out of sudden he rushed towards me and pulled me in his arms.“I am sorry you have to go through this all by your own.” he said and hugged me tightly. I can tell he was genuinely concerned for me and I hugged him back. I really missed a friend. We ended the hug and he sit in the other side of the table.August soon returns with the beer cans and I rolled my eyes.My brother knows me best. He reads my mind. He passed me the can which I took happily. He sat beside me and we just enjoyed our beers for a while.“Look Emmy. I know this is not the right time for me to ask, but you can please tell me about the day you were kidnapped?” Dumeny breaks the silence and I looked at August
Reed’s povI just stand there as Andrew was in hurry to look after Ravenna. I have never seen this man caring about anyone except for his mate and of course his children. But I was also his son. the son whom he sent assassins to take care of.The son who lost his mother, and for what reason? Because his mate come to know about the existence of his affair?“Call the doctor, will you?” he shouted at me and I sighed.“We are in the abandoned land of mine, in the middle of nowhere, the city is three hours from here and I have already called for the doctor. But he won’t be here before the morning.” I said and he just look disdain. The weather is fucked up and all the roads are closed. How much one could try, the doctor would only come by morning.“That fucking bastard. I swear I will kill him with my own hands.” he cursed out aloud and suddenly my chest hurts. This man right here, was concern for someone totally stranger to him, he was concerned for the witch and was cursing out a god? Th
Reed’s povI stared at the moon. I was the wolf who was chasing the moon. I was nothing but a shadow casted by the moon. A shadow only able to come in presence of the source of light. To me the moon has always been the light I was chasing.“Lost in thoughts?” I didn’t want to look back to know whose voice it was. I clenched my jaw tightly as I keep on staring in front of me.Andrew walked inside the room and I heard his footsteps coming closer to me. my whole body tensed up. My heart started to beat faster. Out of fear? Out of surprise? Out of idea of fighting?I don’t know the reason. Maybe all three of them. Never in my life I have ever been able to win against Andrew, my father. Yes, I killed him. I killed him with my own hands and if granted the same opportunity twice, I will not waste a single breath before killing him again.I know he hates me. I hate him too.Suddenly, the sound of the chafing of his shoes stopped and I sighed and finally turned back to look at him.The face of
Esma’s povRavenna’s words kept ringing in my head like an old stuck cassette.“Because you still have some unfinished business.”I didn’t believe what I just saw. I mean I know Ravenna was up to something. I know she was powerful. She was crazy enough to fight us but I never thought for a second, she could bring someone dead back alive and that to Reed’s father. Seriously? Reed’s father for suck’s sake? He was the royalty. He was the direct descendant of the king Lycan. He was supposed to be dead. he was killed by Reed. And the witches. He was known as the most powerful alpha of his pack around the world. he was the epitome of power and royalty. And he was bought back to life by sacrificing witch’s bodies. No wonder we didn’t find a trace of them. they were killed by our Pack but to offer their bodies as a sacrifice in order to bring back Andrew? What Ravenna was thinking? And where is Reed fits into all that. why kidnapped him? I finally looked in front of me and found Damien sitting
Esma’s pov“Child of the moon. You have faced countless hurdles across your way but you didn’t waver.” “You have a soul of a warrior and an unwavering spirit. You will the key to open his heart, his darkness.”“I surely Hope, because hope is what makes us more human. You have my blessing Esma Rockwood.” I gasped and opened my eyes.“What was that?” I was sure it was the voice of Amara. I could still hear her voice in the back of my head. or was I just hallucinating. It was a dream.I was in the complete darkness, there was nothing but dark and then there was that voice peering through the darkness. making its way.Hope. Isn’t it a strange word. The dawn breaks out as I yawned and looked out the window in front of my room. Asher was still fast asleep; I could hear his heartbeat across the door. Asher was given the next room beside me.He must be tired as hell. I was tired too but whenever I closed my eyes, the silver-grey eyes of Amara popped up in front of me. Her eyes drawing me, pe
