The officer checked Ayato as I asked and besides the bruises which he had due to the tight grip caused by the true kidnappers, there was nothing else, not even injuries. Sebastian was glaring at me through it all.
" You're right, Miss! He has no injuries on him but that doesn't prove anything." The officer made his point but none of them understood where I was coming off with all my points. They were about to discover it as all the deductions had served their true purpose.
" You're right about that, officer but you'll understand everything in a moment." Before I reveal the undeniable truth to you all, there's a final test which I'd like all of you to see." My intention shifted to Ayato once again.
" Go on!"
" Thanks for your collaboration!" I extended my hands as I invited Ayato to come to me. He looked at his father, asking for approval. Sebastian didn't seem to mind this time. I guessed that he also wanted to know the truth.
Ayato came to me and I embarrassed him with the action of a hug. He was very comfortable in my embrace. Everyone was looking on at us but Martin seemed to have understood something.
(I know what you're trying to accomplish, Ayase. That's quite clever, I must admit.)
I gasped as Ayato was finally out of my embrace, " Did you see that?" If I was his kidnapper, he wouldn't have come to me. Not only that but he wouldn't even be comfortable with me."
I continued by saying, " He would have depicted signs of fear or anxiety by my presence alone but none of this happened. What do you think that means?"
" It simply means that neither I nor my assistant, Martin, are the kidnappers." My confidence was mind-blowing. Martin was quite impressed with my deductive skills.
(Good job, Ayase! You should have been a detective instead of a photographer. Who hears you would never guess that you're merely just a photographer. I'm so proud of you.)
With a malicious and triumphant demeanor, I stepped forward to Sebastian. When I was in front of him, I detached my watch which was on my right wrist, and gave it to him. He stared at me with confusion in his eyes.
" What's that?" Why are you handing your watch to me?" He asked as his gaze pierced through me. For a slight moment there, I lost focus due to his handsome looks.
" You're in search of the truth, aren't you?" You'll find it there. I don't mind my watch being sacrificed in that attempt." I uttered as my tone suddenly turned sour. Sebastian on the other hand was quite perplexed as to what a watch could prove.
" There's a camera inside the watch I gave you," I spoke up. " It's right inside the watch. The camera inside recorded everything that happened. With this, our innocence will finally be proven and your suspicions cleared." Saying that I couldn't help but look at my watch sadly and the reason for that was because it was a momento and it was about to be destroyed right before my eyes.
" This watch has a camera inside it, you say?" Let's find out if what you said is the truth!" Sebastian was about ready to break my precious watch but Martin stepped in to stop him. The look in his eyes was one I had never seen before. His expression was slightly cold which wasn't like him at all.
" Mr. Nascimento, you cannot break this watch. There's another way to find out exactly what happened at that precise time." With Martin's persistence, Sebastian wanted to break the watch even more.
" The CCTV footage, you mean." He asked adamantly.
" Yes!"
What he uttered in response shocked us, "That CCTV footage you're talking about could have been tampered with. If so, what would be the need to see them at all."
At that precise moment, I understood that the man standing before me wasn't a person but a demon without the slightest consideration for anyone.
" Mr. Nascimento, you--------" The look Martin was harboring right before my eyes wasn't a good sign at all. If I didn't stop him, things could turn ugly.
" Marrin, thanks for taking my side, but I'm quite alright." Mr. Nascimento, you can go right ahead. Let's get this over with once and for all." I said as I held Martin's hand tightly, so he wouldn't break free.
I watched with horror as Sebastian broke my crystal diamond watch. It shattered me to see it being destroyed but I held my emotions back as I grabbed Martin's hand even tighter than before. The bad experience was finished in a jiffy.
" You were right!" There truly was a camera inside." Sebastian was holding my watch's camera in the nape of his hands. My attention, however, was on the destroyed watch that was on the ground.
" Let's see if this camera holds any proof!" He connected the tiny camera and was able to see things as they truly happened. The police officers which were right beside him were quite stunned when they finally saw what the truth was.
They were quite ashamed of themselves and didn't have the gut to face me.
" This was what I was trying to tell you until now dad but you wouldn't let me. Had you listened to me even once, this wouldn't have happened." Ayato was angry at his father for not giving him the chance to explain the situation to him. He looked at the destroyed watch on the ground.
He gasped and looked at me, " This beautiful lady saved me from the goons that were about to take me away. Had it not been for her, I wouldn't have been here, talking to you."
Ayato joined his hands in an apology and uttered apologetically, " Please, forgive my father for the way he treated you. I apologize to you on his behalf."
I stepped up and held Ayato's hand. I couldn't believe how sensible of a child he was. He was apologizing for something he didn't even do while the one who was supposed to apologize for hurting me was standing there like a statue.
" You have nothing to apologize to me for as you did nothing to hurt you, so don't feel like you need to hold yourself accountable for anything." My words had double meaning as they were straightly directed at Sebastian.
" I don't regret saving you in the least. If I had to do it again, I would do it in a heartbeat."
" Thank you!" You're very kind." Ayato hugged me again with the father and police officers watching us. We separated after a minute and he went back to his father.
" With our innocence being proven, we'll take our leave." Before leaving, I assembled the broken watch and Martin helped me in assembling every single piece that was left on the floor. I was grateful for his help.
" Let's go, Ayase!" We were about to go when Sebastian Nascimento remarked.
" Tell me how much that watch cost and I'll buy you an even more expensive one." He uttered what he thought was a good idea but I wasn't sharing that feeling one bit.
I turned around and as I glared at him with every fiber of my being, I then said the following, " Not everything in this world can be bought with money. There are things in this world that money cannot buy and this watch is one of them."
" Have a good day, officers!" Martin and I left the venue at last. Sebastian was staring into the distance in dismay. The officers left thereafter as their help was no longer needed.
Days later, at the SN Corporation, Sebastian received a phone call from someone. Just seeing the name of the caller, he felt displeasure and didn't want to take it.
He had to take the call, however, as the caller was calling incessantly.
" Hello!" He answered the phone call with an unpleasant voice and tone.
" What took you so long to answer the phone?"
The one on the other line goes by the name of Narumi Nascimento and he's Sebastian's father and Ayato's grandfather. His face cannot be seen as only his shadow is shown.
" What do you want, father?"
" Is that a way to talk to your father?" No matter, I want you to come home tonight. There's something that needs to be discussed." He finished his monologue.
Sebastian sighs, " I can't tonight." Maybe, some other time."
" How many times has it been?" You always say next time but never show up. I won't take a negative answer this time around."
Sebastian knew how naggy his father was, that unless he listens to him, he wouldn't stop pestering him.
He sighs once again and gives in to his father, " Okay, understood!" I'll come home tonight."
" Okay, then!" See you tonight!" The call ended as Sebastian hung up the phone.
(I hope the reason he's calling me home isn't because of that "thing" again.)
After hanging up the call with his father, Sebastian went back to his pending work in progress. As hard as he tried to concentrate, he couldn't as his mind was constantly thinking of the recent events. Most importantly, he couldn't get Ayase out of his head for some reason. " What got you so pensive, president?" The familiar voice of his secretary got him back on track. He stared at him with a satisfied grin. " What?" Sebastian gasped, not understanding where the sudden grin was coming from. He crossed his arms, giving off an impressive demeanor. Chuckling slightly, he then said with humor, " You were thinking about her, weren't you?" " Who are you talking about?" Who should I be thinking of?" Sebastian played the denial card game. " Nevermind, president!" Don't forget we have a meeting in half an hour." The secretary heads off and meets eye to eye with Ayato Nascimento. " What are you doing here, young master?" Is there something you need?" " I'm here to fetch the president.
Staring at him deeply from all aspects and grounds, Ayato came running into his grandfather's embrace. The two hugged each other happily. " I missed you, grandpa," Ayato whispered to his grandfather in an emotional state." I missed you too, my favorite grandson." For Sebastian, watching them any longer was becoming unbearable. From the corner of his eye, Narumi guesses his son's sentiments and deliberately decides to tease him a little more. After separating from each other, Narumi deliberately said to his grandson the following, " Where were you all this time, my little Ayato? Why didn't you come to visit?"???" Didn't you miss me even a little?" Noticing his confused expression, Narumi signaled to Ayato to play a game with him. It didn't take long for Ayato to understand where he was coming from and what he wanted from him." Sorry, grandpa!" I didn't mean to hurt you like this." To make his actions seem more believable, he faked cries in front of his grandfather with Sebastian o
Several kilometers away, in the neighboring city, Ayase had arrived at a studio where James Sollis was to have his photoshoot. " Are you, Ms. Nakamura?" She was greeted by James' assistant and also manager, a tall guy with an imposing frame and presence " Yes, I am!" She nodded simply. The manager signaled her to follow him which she did. We entered the photoshoot room which was full of various equipment. James had his back turned when I entered the room with his assistant/ manager. " James, your photographer's here. Say hello, would you?" James slowly turned and met my gaze. He lifted my chin as he emitted a sarcastic comment, " Nothing special!" ( How very rude?) " James, is that a way to talk to someone?" His assistant/ manager reprimanded him for his foul language. He turned to me and apologized on his behalf. ( James Sollis, the Rockstar, is so different in real life. Martin won't believe me when I tell him this and neither would his fans.) " What are you dazing down for?"
“ It’s delicious!” That was the first compliment Ayato let out from his mouth after eating just one bite of the dish Ayase prepared. His emotions were overflowing as he kept eating and he couldn’t contend them inside.“ What’s wrong, Ayato?” Why are you crying?” Ayase was at a loss as to why he was crying so suddenly, then asked him the reason for his tears.Ayato responded the following as some tears fell into the rice dish, “ I’ve never had something this delicious.” The man in the suit understood what Ayato was talking about. The only person who didn’t quite understand what was going on and the significance behind his nonchalant words was Ayase. Before Ayase asked him what he meant, he began telling her how he spent his life until now. He told her about the numerous nannies he had in the past and how none of them could give him the love of a mother, a love which he’d been lacking all his life. Listening to all his peripeties, Ayase was sad and emotional at the same time.Out of emo
Cynthia stayed paused for a moment to digest everything Sebastian had debated a moment ago. All the girls in the city had only one dream and that was to enter the Nascimento family by marrying the richest billionaire in City A and Cynthia wouldn’t let her one big chance slip her by. She was willing to do whatever it took to have Sebastian for her.“ I accept your terms, Mr. Nascimento.” Cynthia showed a slight grin but Sebastian was on his phone by that time and didn’t see it.“ Give me your number!” Sebastian asked for Cynthia’s number which she gave him right away. After having the number in his possession, he stood up and left, leaving cash on the table. Although he was sarcastic and cold, Cynthia didn’t care as she thought of her future with Sebastian and how soon she’d be the bride of a billionaire.Meanwhile, at Ayato’s school, at around lunchtime—--------------“ Wow, Ayato! What you’re eating seems delicious. Is it homemade?” One of his classmates asked him as he was enjoying
Cynthia looked upon Ayato's homework. The more she looked at it, the more she sweats. " What's wrong with you lady?" Ayato asked Cynthia who was looking all embarrassed and was trying to keep her composure around him. Ayato knew for a fact what could be the reason for her profuse sweats. " It's nothing--------------- It's just very hot in here." She said flustered. Ayato lights up the AC for her as a sign of courtesy. He lit it up even though it wasn't at all hot in the room. After lighting up the room, Cynthia started feeling uncomfortable. " Ayato, could you turn off the AC?" Cynthia exclaimed. Ayato grinned slightly as he asked, " Why should I turn it off? You said you were hot earlier, didn't you?" " Ah, I'm not hot anymore, so please, turn it off?" Ayato turned off the AC and when it was time to go back to the homework, Cynthia found an excuse to leave. Sebastian found her in the living room as she was leaving. " Are you leaving already?" He asked with a surprised expression
When the mirror lowered, Ayase gasped in surprise when she saw no other than Sebastian Nascimento. What was he doing there? That was the first thought that crossed her mind. " It's been a long day. Do you need a lift?" He said with a stern grin. Ayase felt her blood boil as she remembered how their last encounter concluded. " No, thanks!" She politely refused his help but Sebastian wasn't going to give up so easily. He wasn't one to concede defeat. " Are you sure you want to wait here instead of coming with me?" It was 9p.m at the time and Ayase's bus wouldn't be coming until thirty minutes later. Not only that, but it was the fall season and the temperature outside was insane. Sebastian knew all that and took that to his advantage. " Yes, I'm sure! It's only thirty-minutes worth of waiting. If I wait for a little while, I won't turn into an iceberg." Besides, I'd rather wait than enter your car. I'll be fine, thank you!" " As you wish!" Sebastian left in disappointment. Ayase wai
At the SN Mansion, Cynthia wanted to understand why Ayato was so displeased by her. She needed to know that or else, she wouldn’t be able to win him over and of course, she would lose the challenge Sebastian gave her. “ Why don’t you like me, Ayato?” I don’t recall having done anything to upset you, have I?” Cynthia asked the latter hypothetically. Ayato responded coldly, “ You did nothing wrong, Miss.” “ Then?” “ I simply don’t like you, that is all.” Ayato gave a firm response before going back to his homework. Cynthia didn’t know what to think or do. Her challenge was becoming even more difficult than she initially thought it would. At the restaurant where Sebastian and Ayase were dining, things were also about to take a turn. “ What exactly was it you wanted to talk to me about, Mr. Nascimento?” Ayase asked as she drank a full glass of water. “ Ms. Nakamura, I asked you to meet with me about Ayato.” “ About Ayato!” Ayase gasped at the tone of the name. Why, him? Is he okay?
