CHAPTER 44

OWEN'S POV

I sighed, devastated at the news I just got from Caleb as I walked back to the room. The company's revenues were dropping drastically. Father won't let me go to work and I can't fix anything from home. I need to have a talk with him as soon as possible.

I opened the door to my room and was surprised when I saw the newly appointed bodyguard in the room with my wife. She looked flustered as she saw me, like she had been caught doing something bad.

I raised my eyebrow at Micheal and he cleared his throat as he stood straight.

“I heard her scream from outside, so I came to check in on her. She had missed her step and fell while trying to get out of bed. All I did was help her get up. I was on my way out when you came in.”

I immediately walked over to Charlotte as I looked at her in worry. “Did you get hurt? Why did you get up? I told you to stay still till I'm back.”

“I needed to use the bathroom.” She mumbled and she avoided my eyes as she spoke. I waved a hand to dismiss M
