His words were like small daggers digging through open wounds as we remained seated. I couldn’t find the right words, I didn’t know what to do next.

I could feel her eyes look up at me directly as I had mine down, completely drowned in thoughts.

The thoughts that I wasn’t needed and rejected were like hot brass under the sole of my feet.
