Romantic Display

“Where’s Lily?” I ask Brian as soon he opens the door. I push my way inside because this is not his fucking place.

“I thought she was in the Carrington house,” he says, frowning at me, “I left her there last night.”

And a shit storm happened because of it.

“Right, but she didn’t stay the night, she left with her mom,” I inform him and that makes his shoulders drop as if he’s relieved. I can sense he actually cares a bit about Lily… but he’a still a leech. Two things can be true at the same time, after all, “I’m just going to wait here for her, I have something I need to say.”

“Right…” he says, uncomfortable. But again, he has no say in this because it isn’t his place, “So, I’m going to try and call her again. She hasn’t picked up yet, she’s probably still sleeping.”

She hasn’t picked up my calls either. I thought it was just me she was avoiding, but I’m glad it’s not. Before Brian can keep talking, a landline starts ringing, so he goes there to answer it.
