Chapter 30

I stepped out of the locker room, the scent of sweat and adrenaline still clinging to me. But all of that faded away the moment I saw Katrina. She was sitting on a bench, her bright smile cutting through the fog in my mind. I couldn't help but smile back, though my thoughts were still tangled in Coach’s words.

“If you accept that offer, you’ll be in the same league as her,” Coach had said, his voice carrying both pride and a warning. He subtly nodded toward Katrina. “But remember, it’s a betrayal to the pack. I arranged this meeting in secret so your friends wouldn’t know. The decision is yours, Arch.”

“Yes, Coach,” I had muttered, still unsure, as I headed toward Katrina. Lunch was on the agenda, but my mind was buzzing with too many questions.

When I reached her, she looked up, her eyes searching mine for something I wasn’t ready to give. I offered her a small smile, trying to keep it casual. “Ready?” I asked, my voice betraying none of the turmoil inside me.

She nodded, and we walk
