Sheena paced the room haphazardly, unable to stop her heart from racing.
She felt uncomfortable and unnerved by the intense look Jake had given her as he sauntered confidently to the table where she and Elena were seated. Sheena stopped to look at the wall clock. It's been five minutes since she got to her room, Elena should be here by now and she wondered what was keeping her sister. She had her back to the door with her muddled thoughts, when the door to the room opened, ushering in an intruder. ‘Oh God, Elena! What took you so long?’ Sheena queried, with her back still facing the door. ‘I need help getting out of this gown, please.’ She shifted her hair which she had let loose to the side to allow Elena to untie the strings and undo the zipper. As the figure got closer and slowly pulled down the zipper of the beautiful strapless gown, Sheena froze. The familiar green citrus and fine cedar wood scent she has come to know too well wafted into her nose. She knew right then it wasn't Elena. Realization hit her hard in the face as she turned her head to meet the intense brown eyes of Jake, staring down at her with what looked like a mix of lust and anger. Sheena instantly jumped away from him, holding the strapless gown to her chest as it hung loosely around her shoulders after Jake had unzipped it more than halfway and helped loosen all the many strings holding it in place. They both stared at each other in silence for nearly a minute, with shock evident on Sheena's face. ‘What are you doing here?’ Sheena asked incredulously. She had least expected him to be here. ‘Where’s my sister?’ She queried as he continued staring at her in cold silence. ‘You mean the lady who sat with you at the table? I saw her talking to “your husband". Jake explained with particularly angry emphasis on the word husband. 'They might be on their way up here any moment from now.’ Jake added nonchalantly. 'Oh’ was all Sheena could mutter. She could feel her heart racing as she stared at this adonis of a man dressed in a simple white sleeve folded at the arms and tucked into a perfectly ironed pair of navy blue trousers that hugged his thighs tightly and displayed his toned legs and physique. 'What are you doing here?’ Sheena repeated after finding her voice. Her hands still lay crossed over her chest, supporting the gown from falling and exposing her nakedness. 'You lied about being single last night, why? Why didn't you tell me you were getting married today……much more so, to my father?’ Jake shot at her instead. He grimaced at the word “father" and had his anger-filled eyes focused wholly on her. 'Tha….that's because I….I was single up until today.’ Sheena tried to explain. She felt entirely unsettled by the look on Jake's handsome face. Suddenly, her courage shot up when she realized he had also lied to her about his name and identity. ‘Wait a minute. You also lied to me last night too.’ she accused defiantly. 'Why did you tell me your name was Jake Cross when in fact, you're Jake Rollins?’ she fired. Jake laughed and shook his head mockingly at her naivety. 'That's because I am Jake Cross! I do not answer to the Rollins's name. Cross is my stepfather and it is what I go by.’ He revealed. He softened as he mentioned his stepfather. Sheena stared at him thoughtfully, understanding his words. ‘But you don't look anything like Rollins.’ she argued. Jake stared at her in disbelief. She'd just said he looked nothing like Mr Dominic, when all his life, he'd looked and was told by everyone that he was a carbon copy of his father. It was his uncanny resemblance to his father that made his stepfather suspicious and eventually exposed his mother's secret that he, Jake, wasn't his son but Mr. Rollins.' Jake scanned the room for a second and directed Sheena's attention to a framed picture on the shelf, in a corner of the large, exquisite-looking room. The picture stood on the shelf beside several awards and laminated certificates that lined each stand. It was a picture of a handsome, much younger Mr Dominic Rollins, and as Sheena stared closely at it, it immediately dawned on her how alike Jake looked to the young Dominic in the picture. 'The old man is my father.’ Jake supplied, as Sheena turned her gaze away from the picture back to him. She stood silently watching him as she was at a loss for what to say to him. ‘For how long have you been seeing my father?’ Jake queried, breaking the awkward silence. ‘Huh?!’ Sheena exclaimed in confusion. ‘I was never seeing your father! Today at the church was the first time I met him in person. I was only arranged to marry him as part of a deal my father brokered with him. I did not lie when I said I was single.’ She explained. Jake watched her in silence, with distrust in his eyes, as he watched her explain. Deep in his heart, he felt she was telling the truth and desperately wanted to believe her, but his mind on the other hand found it difficult to do so, especially not after the lies the night before. Jake Cross was particular about, and vehemently against sleeping with a lady who was either married or in a relationship with someone else. The experience of his doting stepfather had made him come to such a resolve. Andrew Cross had been utterly devastated when he found out the young kid whom he'd loved and called his own wasn't his child. His wife Sonia, who was Mr Rollins’ secretary then, had lied to him about Jake's paternity until Jake grew older, and his uncanny resemblance to Mr Rollins could no longer be ignored. Andrew Cross, Jake's stepfather had died of a heart attack after seeing the DNA test results, and Sonia, Jake's mother, had lost her mind from the trauma. She'd been confined to a mental institution since then, and Jake had completely despised his father, Dominic Rollins, ever since then, for the part he played. He'd also swore never to be like his father….never to have anything to do with someone else's woman. Jake was reminded of all of these as he stared angrily at Sheena who was still holding onto the gown. 'Okay, so you decided to have a little fun with me before you jet off to go get married the next day, huh?’ He questioned, moving towards her with strong confident strides as his eyes darkened in anger and what seemed like lust. Sheena backed off in fear as he strode towards her angrily. She took cautious steps backward until her back hit a barrier. She was already backed to the wall, with nowhere to go and entirely at his mercy. She looked back at her predator with worry and uncertainty in her eyes because she didn't know what he was up to. She raised both her hands to try to plead with him, forgetting the small issue of her loose gown. As she took her hands off of it, the gown slid down her sides, forming a puddle around her feet. She became aware of her nudity. Jake who was only a few inches away from her stopped dead in his tracks as the gown fell, exposing Sheena's soft, ample breasts with pink hardened nipples - ones he had suckled and fondled with severally during their steamy, exhilarating romp last night - and black lace panties that covered her hot tight mold. Jake took in a sharp breath as his eyes dilated. His eyes were blinded with lust as a surge of blood rushed towards his groin, lighting a burning fire only Sheena could quench. He closed the small distance between them in one swift motion, pinning her possessively to the wall. ‘You think you can use me and go scot-free, huh?’ Jake muttered breathlessly, his mouth barely inches away from hers. 'I….I…I did not use….’ Sheena stuttered, nervously trying to explain. Jake captured her luscious lips in his before she could finish. She tasted like apple pie as he deepened the kiss and took one soft mold in his hand, kneading the flesh and rubbing at her taut nipple. He pushed her legs apart and was going to run his free hand up her thighs towards her wet, hot, groin when the doors of the room suddenly pushed open.Jake and Sheena froze in their act. They turned to the door left ajar but no one had come through.Sheena quickly drew up her dress left in a puddle around her feet, covering her nakedness. She secured the dress to prevent it from falling.Jake flexed his shoulders regaining his composure, moved away from Sheena and placed his hands into his pant pockets. The duo peeled their eyes towards the door awaiting the entrance of the intruder. Just then, a maid entered, struggling with a basket of clean laundry. The maid gasped upon seeing Jake and Sheena in the room. 'I'm sorry.’ She apologized shyly and turned to leave but was stopped dead in her tracks by Jake's commanding tone.'Come in.’ he ordered, gesturing with his hand for her to enter. The maid turned to him, still skeptical if she should enter the room. Jake noticed her hesitation and nodded his head towards the bed, encouraging her to carry on.The maid walked with trepidation into the room and went about her business briskly. S
Sheena didn't go back downstairs to join the reception party after her confrontation with Jake. She had been too distraught with what had happened. When Elena finally came upstairs to meet her, Sheena made Elena excuse her by saying she was indisposed. Elena had come back saying Mr Dominic didn't like the news but he allowed it because he had guests.Sheena remained in the room pitying herself till the end of the party. With Elena gone, she had a lot of time to sulk. Just when she thought the day couldn't get any worse, Mr Dominic appeared.'Why didn't you come back downstairs?' Mr Dominic asked Sheena, his eyes glaring daggers at her, his voice as cold as ice.Sheena was instantly filled with fear upon hearing Dominic's cold voice. She hadn't noticed when he entered the room as she was absorbed in the disturbing thoughts in her head. She remained seated on the mattress, knees drawn to herself as she brooded. She raised her head to him to respond to his question. His look sent fiery
Dinner had ended on a tense note with Sheena at the receiving end of most of it. She was grateful to return to the confines of her room. She had barely touched her food and she wasn't the only one guilty of this.Mirabel and Michelle had barely touched theirs too. They instead, fed off the intense hate glares they directed at Sheena. The day had been very eventful for Sheena. She never asked for any of this. She felt too young to carry all that life was throwing at her. At her age, she would be expected to live life, attending wide parties and having blissful sex. Although Sheena was not one to live life attending parties and sleeping with strangers she was certain this wasn't the way to live for anyone her age. Sheena's mind lingered on sleeping with strangers. She thought of Jake in that instance. How wonderful he had been to her. She had imagined her first time to be fairytale perfect and Jake made it all that.Like in the movies, meet a stranger and have wild passionate lovemaki
Jake stood by his room window overlooking the city, he stared at the view absentmindedly. The window provided its occupant a wide-range view of the city, the colorful lighting, and the people as they go about their businesses but without all the noise. He occupied the top floor of one of the most expensive condos in London. He could afford it. He was rich.He stood by the window wearing nothing but his skin. He had just finished romping with his girlfriend Annabelle. He was supposed to feel satiated, exhausted but satiated. But he didn't feel any of these right now.He was disturbed. His mind was elsewhere, wandering to a place where it shouldn't; Sheena. He just couldn't stop thinking about her.He recalled their last meeting. He could still taste her lips in his when he had kissed her. The feel of her silk molds against his hands. He felt himself growing hard again. He was still mad at her for keeping such an important detail of being engaged from him. He couldn't forget the fact th
A bright light suddenly shone from the open windows against Sheena's closed eyes, waking her up. She shifted from the very uncomfortable position she had taken on the floor. She grunted in pain. Her whole body ached. Sleep had eluded her the whole night. Only until the wee hours of the morning did she let herself slip into a conscious nap as it were.Sheena remained alert like a guard on watch the whole night. She couldn't believe Mr Dominic would let her off the hook just like that. She anticipated his return at any moment, changing his mind and going back on his word. She stretched herself, her bones popping with each movement. She yawned tiredly as she tried to locate the source of the sudden brightness in the room. Her eyes still hazy from sleep, caught the outline of a figure standing by the window. Sheena's adrenaline kicked in and she scampered to her feet immediately, ignoring the pain she felt in her joints.'Good morning ma'am!' Sheena's vision cleared to reveal the tall sl
'You shouldn't take their words to heart.' A small sweet voice spoke, making Sheena turn to see her companion.Sheena turned to see Mary, the youngest of Mr Dominic's daughters smiling down at her. After what had happened in the kitchen, Sheena had taken solace in the garden, sulking, crying her eyes out, and drowning in self-pity. She regretted ever being born. She swiped at her eyes and bowed her head to hide her teary face from Mary. She wasn't even sure how Mary knew what had happened. And like Mary could read thoughts, she answered her unspoken question.'Maria told me what happened.' Mary said to Glenda as she stooped close to Sheena, sitting beside her.Sheena sniffed. 'It's fine.' She responded in a frail voice as more tears dropped from her eyes.'No, it's not. Mirabel and Michelle can be very vicious. They are very greedy and think you're here to claim your father's wealth. Dad is not getting any younger.' Mary explained, trying to calm Sheena and excuse her sisters.'I have
Jake did not expect to see Sheena with Mary. He had called his younger siblings with whom he was closest to in the Rollins house to hang out with her.He needed to unwind and he couldn't think of any other person than Mary. He didn't want to be drowned in booze and judging and so he avoided his friends. He was glad he had chosen to call Mary because it afforded him seeing Sheena again.Jake had been unable to get Sheena out of his mind. She was "the a lot" on his mind that had prevented him from being so productive at work.He was still mad at her and kept telling himself he didn't want to ever see her again. But his heart kept yearning for Sheena. It felt like poison in his system but now, only staring down at her felt like an antidote. The sight of her was calming, soothing and refreshing. And as though controlled by an unknown force, he had extended his hand to her for a truce. And when she took his hand, it took every being in him not to pull her into his arms and ravish her.'I d
Sheena's words were all the justification Jake needed to pursue her. He had been fighting with himself from seeing all the things that could go wrong and forget this forbidden romance that was stirring within him. Now, he was going to let go of all the reasons and pursue her.Jake dropped Sheena back at the house quite late. They had remained at "La Cafe" after their truce just talking. Sheena went on to relate how she ended up being married to his father. After listening to her, Jake saw how wrong he had judged her. Guilt and regret tugged at his heart for causing her so much pain with his words and he apologized again before taking her home.Jake was parked in front of the house. He sat in his car watching as Sheena walked up to the front door and disappeared into the house.Sheena walked into the mansion wearing a smile. Something that has eluded her for the past few days. She felt relieved like a heavy weight had been lifted off her shoulders after talking to and spending time wi
