Aubrey's POV
The door slammed shut, reverberating through the house. A rustling sound was heard, and I wondered what he was unwrapping.
He returned to the room with clothes; a pair of jeans and a flannel shirt hanging from his hands. What is going on here? I thought.
“ You can wear this.” He stretched them forward to me.“ I want to leave,” I said and stood up. This time, my legs cooperated with me. I slipped my leg into the footwear beside the bed.“ You can't leave.” My head shot up at his statement. “ You are holding me prisoner?” He rolled his eyes, "You know what I mean.” I shook my head. “ No, I don't know what you mean. What I'm hearing is someone who wants to keep me here against my will. This is called kidnap, you know that.” I retorted and adjusted my dress. He pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation. “ You are one stubborn lass.” He said.“ That's why you treated me poorly. I am leaving, and you will not stop me.”“ Xander might be at your house.”
“ I will deal with him. Anything else?” I breezed past him, and he caught my hand before I got to the door. “ At least change into something presentable.” He eyed my gown, and my eyes mirrored his actions. My gown was not just an inch above my knee, and he was complaining. I am not his child. “ No, can do,” I replied and headed downstairs. “ You will be the death of me.” He mumbled under his breath, but I caught it. “ What did you say?” “ This dress is too short. You can't…" He trailed off when I gave him the stink eye.“ Thanks for your hospitality, Mr. Knight, but I have to go home now. I have tons of assignments to finish. Especially yours.” I said.“You don't have to come in tomorrow.”
I halted, "Are we playing nepotism now? I didn't think you would be caught up in such a situation.” I said.
He pinned me with a chill stare, fury flared in his eyes.” I will let you go on the condition that you will not come to school tomorrow. Is that understood?” He asked in a guttural tone.
Instead of fear, my skin threatened to break out in goosebumps, I loved the texture of his voice, a mixture of baritone and… Aubrey, stay on course, I told myself. “ You are not my father,” I replied with spunk and walked away. He caught up with me at the doorstep, "I will drive you home.” He said, leaving no room for argument, and I followed him wordlessly. I was not stupid to reject his offer.Thirty minutes later, we arrived at the terminal leading to my house. “ Stop the car here.” "Why?”“ I don't want people seeing you drop me off. In case, you have forgotten, you are my professor.” His lips tilted into a smirk.” I like the sound of that.” He replied nonchalantly.Oh boy, his smirk was a lethal weapon. A woman could get unalive from his lips. What I wouldn't give to have a taste of his lips. I shook my head to get rid of those images. Damn! They were hot. I began to recite the Alphabet backward. His smirk grew when he noticed my stare. It was as if he knew the reason.
I frowned when I noticed that he was driving me home. "I find it hard to believe that you don't care for your reputation,” I said.“ Hmm.” He drummed his well-manicured fingers on the steering wheel. These fingers could. Shit! This car was messing with my brain. My attraction was growing rapidly to him.He pulled up in my driveway," How do you know where I live?” I asked. He shrugged, “Don't tell me you are stalking me?” I gasped. “How did you know where I was earlier? It wasn't a coincidence, was it?” I fired at him. Oh my goodness, my best friend's father was stalking me! I screamed internally.
He switched off the engine, "Will you take a breather?” He asked after I finished hyperventilating.“ You didn't answer my questions.”
“ You already know the answer to them.” He turned. Under the car lights, his eyes turned a darker shade of blue. What the hell?
“ I don't know.”
“ Okay.” Okay? He wasn't going to explain anything? I hope he wasn't one of those narcissists, What was I even saying, for goodness’s sake? His hand closed over mine, and warmth settled over me like a blanket in the cold. I jerked my hand away. “I'll walk you to the door.” He said softly. “ No!” I replied and tried to open the door. It was locked. With annoyance, I turned to him, "Open this door.” He perused my face, "You need to relax. You looked spooked.” He said and reached for my hand.I ground my teeth together. “ Don't… Just open the freaking door.” I said, careful not to make a noise because of my neighbors. “ Not until you breathe.” He refused, and we engaged in a staring match. It lasted for almost an hour. That's quite an exaggeration. When I noticed that I was beginning to lose the battle, I sighed. “ Just let me out, and don't walk me to the door. I don't want scandals.” I said softly. Not only that, but I came here to lie low and be free from trouble.
He nodded, and the doors clicked, I opened the door and walked to the door. He shone his headlights, and I bent to check for my key under my flower pot.
He horned, but I didn't look back. I inserted the key into the keyhole, opened the door, and entered my apartment. I peeped through the window and saw him wait for two minutes before driving away.Whew! Today has been tough. I flicked the switch and turned and received a great shocking sight. Xander sprawled on my sofa.
“ What the hell are you doing here?” I shouted.Aubrey's POV " Please hear me out." He jumped up from the bed and walked towards me.I pointed at him," Stop, just stay here where you are. Don't move an inch closer." She said." I don't know what came over me. I'm so sorry, you know that I will never want to hurt you." My heart raced faster when I calculated how fast it would take me to run out of this place. Why did I lock the door?" Babe?" I stood still, "How did you get my key?" He raised a brow, " You gave it to me. It's always under the pot." I guess I had to change it." Please hand it over." He took a step further and I moved a step backwards. " Babe, don't be this way. I was drunk. I'm sorry." I picked up my flip-flop as a shield. It was quite funny but It was the first thing I could think of. " I don't want you around me. Get out of my house!" I ordered. He tried to grab my hand." It's late, I can't go home now. Let's resolve this. I know that I made a mistake." "I will scream bloody murder, get out of my house. I
Aubrey's POV I had never been more happy to see anyone, I jumped into the car immediately, and my heart began to calm down gently."That was the boy who bullied you the other day." He said as he drove on. His fingers drummed against the wheel and I felt anger from him in waves. " Was he bullying you again?" He asked.I turned to face him, his shoulders were taut like a coiled string. Was it my eyes or did his eyes go darker? " They are not important," I said, and he pierced me with a scorching look. As a weirdo, that I am, I thought it was hot. Bad bad Aubrey.Oh my goodness. I didn't know why I was protecting him. Judging from his stance, he looked like he could hurt them. "It was exactly what it was, You are being bullied? Why didn't you say anything?" Hello? Who was I supposed to report to? They were the big boys in the school, I didn't want to attract attention to myself. " I would have a word with those boys." He said." Just let it go. I have it under control." " Hmmm."
Aubrey's POV " You look like a zombie, Aubrey." Alexis gasped immediately I walked into our class the next morning. " Gee, thanks," I muttered sarcastically, all eyes were on me. My face flamed as I trudged to my seat. Thankfully, only a few students were present, and they did well not to look at us. She chuckled when I finally arrived at my seat which was beside hers, " Seriously, you look like shit. I almost couldn't recognize you." She repeated. Then her face tilted into concern, " Are you sure that you are feeling better? We could go to the hospital." She suggested. How does one stay mad at such a person? One minute she was embarrassing you and the next, concerned about your welfare. " Yes, to get your head checked." She laughed heartily, picking no offense, " Are you sure they can handle it? My craziness is top tier." She laughed louder.I shook my head at her antics, " So... What assignment are we doing today?" She clapped her hands gleefully, and I raised a brow. " What?"
Aubrey's POV I met Alexis and Sylvia another coursemate of mine, in his office, when I got there. "You will be the class representative." He said, and Alexis gave me a thumbs up from where she was sitting. I don't want this position! Being in the know that people were watching me, I smiled, " Alright, sir."He returned his attention to the students before him, and I went out of his office. Was that the reason for the drama? I didn't know what they were asking him. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I swiped the screen angrily. "What?!" " Hey, babe. Who got on your nerves?" Xander replied, and I rolled my eyes. " Why aren't you in school?" I replied. He was supposed to be here." I was caught up with a few things. I had to sort them out. Did you write my name on the attendance sheet?" " I should have known that is why you are calling." " No, It was urgent, I'm sorry that I didn't call. Did you?" He repeated. He was doing stuff that couldn't be spoken about. Well, I didn't care.
Knight's POV " Incoming call from Josh," Siri announced, and I rose from my bed. Today was a weekend, and I needed to hit the gym. This urban community wasn't conducive for me to shift and it bothered me a lot. I guess the treadmill would bear the brunt." Hello, Josh," I said immediately I picked up the phone. What was going on? It was quite unusual for Josh to call this early on a weekend. "A group of rogues were seen at the outskirts of the pack last night. We were able to chase them to the border, but unable to catch them." He explained. I knew it, something bad had happened. " Nobody was harmed right?" My pack's safety was important to me." Yes- No, a few warriors got scraped during the fight." He said." How is Ellie doing?" "Great. She's been filling into her shoes perfectly. It's almost like she was her." He replied, refusing to mention my wife's name because it was a sore topic for all of us. She just left without saying goodbye." Okay, if they appear again, let me kno
Aubrey's POV "What?" His eyes widened a tiny fraction, at my question." Forget that I said anything. I just came to say thank you." I replied and turned to leave. His hand shot out to grip mine, and I felt hot and bothered. What did he mean by that? " What gave you that impression?" He asked. "Ramon is a big bully. He's never afraid of anyone. Forgive me if I think that you are in the mob. You must have done something to make him agree to stay away." I replied. "You are not kidding." He replied."Aubrey!" Xander called from the glass. I jumped and tried to jerk my hand away from his grip.He stared at me, "I told you to leave that boy. He is bad news. "He replied and reluctantly let go of my hand."I'll be the judge of that," I muttered and walked back to the gym." What were you discussing?" Xander asked as we watched him drive off. Then turned to face me. " Why was he holding your hand?" He asked.I squinted, " Why the interrogation? How am I supposed to know?" I replied. He fr
Aubrey's POV We shuffled down the flight of stairs in a hurry to get into Mr. Drew, our history lecturer's class. I wouldn't have been in this situation if not for surfing the net till midnight, which threw me into this dilemma." Hey." Alexis waved at me when I entered the class. Surprisingly, the class was half full. Weren't students ready for the day?" Where is everyone?" I asked. Alexis wore a smirk on her face and "April Fool's Day!" She shouted.I swung my bag at her, " Are you kidding me? You told me to hurry because of April Fool?" I muttered. She choked on her laughter as her eyes crinkled in mischief, "I'm sorry." She whispered." No, you are not," I replied rolled my eyes, and sat beside her. " Is there even a class today?" " Yeah, but it starts at noon. I wanted you to be here early. I heard that we might be having some tests later today, and you need to read." She laughed. I took a glance at my watch, we had four hours more. " I am famished, I'll be at the cafeteria
Aubrey's POV I managed to come up with a wack answer, but thankfully, Mr. Drew nodded. Alexis was able to answer it perfectly and we moved on. " Hey, Aubrey." Matt raced towards us when we were going home. Firstly, I needed to sleep. My head was pounding like I had a hangover. "Hello, guys." He waved and gave Alexis and Xander shy smiles. What are you doing here? I smiled in return, " Hi, Matt. How are you doing?" I raised my brows. A small blush appeared on his chubby cheeks, " Fine. I wanted to remind you that a study will be held on Wednesday. You have not replied to my text." " Her phone is faulty." Alexis chirped in and smiled at Matt. "Aren't you going to invite me? Or do I not look smart?" She accused.Poor Matt. He was at a loss for words. " I didn't think that you would be interested. You're welcome. So, see you on Wednesday, 7 pm. I'll text you the address." " Text me instead," Alexis said and punched her number into his phone." Whew! I still do not know how a stude
