We had not even introduced Dorcas yet to the pack and yet she was already causing trouble. If Lance did not come back in twenty minutes then I am dead. Everyone will think that I have conspired with a witch to kill the alpha.

"Relax Hayley, I believe in Lance, you should too!" Dorcas said, perhaps sensing my anxiety.

"Dorcas, a child died on my watch, I won't be pardoned again if there's another mistake."

"Lance will be fine, I'm certain of it," she said. She sat on the floor.

"Why can't you just open up another portal if he doesn't make it back in time?"

"Portals are unique to the witch that places them. They draw the magical ruins differently in each dimension. I know the ones here because I've seen it. I don't know what the ones on the other side look like. What I'm doing now is called portal hijacking and it's a one way ticket in and out of the same portal."
