Can I Come In?

I immediately realized how far I had gone and apologized. I picked up the doll. It was just childish curiosity that must have triggered Beam to take the doll out of my workshop.

"Hayley," said Beam as I turned to leave.

"What?" I asked, not wanting to turn back to her.

"I just don't get you at times that's all," Beam replied.

"Don't get me?" I muttered. "What do you mean?"

"It's like sometimes you become a different person. You're on and off like a light switch flickering, I know people are supposed to have different sides but yours flicker way too much."

I considered her words for a moment. Was it true? Did I really change personalities that much? I wondered why that was. I grew up in an abusive environment. I was not exactly getting the best out of the alternative of coming here. So forgive me if I do not seem to have my shit together. I left Beam without a single word.

Beam just sort of gave me that older sister's vibe. I had not cared for anyone like that in a long while. In
