Alvira sat on the small couch in the corridor behind the mansion replaying all that had happened earlier in her head. No matter how many times she replayed it. she just couldn't understand where she went wrong. It wasn't like they've met before. I mean if she had met him before, there was no way she could forget. He had such a strikingly handsome appearance. Then what was it?
Alvira asked herself lost in her own thoughts, she had been brought down here after the encounter with Simon and practically all the maids in the mansion had gathered around her. The maids who now surrounded her gossiped about Simon, everyone telling their own version of how ruthless Simon had been to the previous care givers.Alvira looked at them and then finally understood why they were all acting weird that morning, they saw her as the next victim of Simon Walker and they all shared in the pity. The maid who had not only led her into the house but had also taken her to Simon’s room looked at her with distress."Why didn't you obey what I told you when you arrived? Do you think I have no idea what I was saying? You are lucky Sir Simon didn't punish you immediately!" The maid said and Alvira looked at her.Alvira knew that by punish, she meant fire. From the discussions of the maids, Alvira deduced that this woman was called Lara, she had a long brown hair which was packed in a neat bun like that of the others but she was older and from the look of things, she seemed to be the longest serving maid here but Alvira couldn’t be sure about that as there were many elderly maids there too after all.
"You already told her the rules?" The maid who had dragged Alvira out of Simon's room asked Lara with surprise."Every single one of them. I thought Miss Alvira here even though young really needed the job, but it obviously seem that she came here to play. You would be fired without a second thought and no one would help you. No one can help you against Mr. Simon, Miss Alvira." Lara immediately scolded and all the maid followed suit."That’s true. Even the other caregiver, what was her name..... I don't remember, number fifteen, that girl loved Sir Simon, really loved him. He treated her like trash. That is someone who loved him. Do you think he would spear someone like you?" Another maid asked angrily.Since there have been so many caregivers than they could count, they all addressed them by their number. And number fifteen was the one who gave birth to the rule, ‘Don't fall in love with him.’
The maid who had brought Alvira downstairs looked at her with distress and sighed. "What do I do now? Since you already heard all the rules and chose to blatantly ignore them, how do I save my job now that you have involved me?"Alvira who only halfheartedly heard all the maid had been saying came to two conclusions; One she wasn't going to be fired. Her father's life depended on this so she would be damned if she allowed herself to fail.
Two, if Mr. Simon was as much of an asshole as she had heard, then she was going to treat him like one.
She stood up and the gossiping maids gave her a questioning look while she returned her beautiful smile, "I think I should go back to Mr. Simon’s room." She said and began to leave but the maid who had dragged her out drew her back."Have you gone mad? If Mr. Simon said he wants you to be lectured. It means he doesn't want to see your face today at all." The maid said frantically but Alvira smiled."Jane right?" Alvira asked and the maid who was about her age nodded with a frown."Jane, if I sit around all day and avoid my duty post because of a little difficulty how can I earn my salary with pride? Since you have already told me what to do, I understand. I w…ould follow the rules." Alvira said with a fake smile. She knew in her heart that if her father was here he would know she was lying. She was the only one who gave such a fake smile when she lied but this people never met her, they didn't know her well so that was okay.
"Even if you want to go back to your Sir Simon, go tomorrow when he has cooled off and have probably forgotten about Jane’s involvement in this. If you go back now, not only you but Jane might be fired as well." Lara explained and the others agreed."How can he fire Jane? Was Jane employed by him?" Alvira asked with wide innocent eyes, even though her heart were making plans on how to deal with Simon."No. He doesn't employ people, but that doesn't mean Sir Simon doesn't have an authority in this house. He is the heir." Jane explained in frustration.Of all the caregivers they have encountered they have never met one who had a problem understanding things like this Alvira girl. She was going to get them all in trouble.
"Okay. I understand. I would go get my bag and leave for the day." Alvira said again with a fake smile and all the maids let out a sigh of relieve. But the moment she left them she ran up the stairs to Simon’s room. Knowing now that if she knocked he wouldn't open the door, she walked right in.Simon who was ready to scold the stupid maid who dared to walk in, looked at her with shock.
"You?" He clearly didn't expect her to come back upstairs after the order he gave those maid. Clearly those maids did not understand a word of what he said.Fine if they didn't understand he would get people who understood. He reached out for the phone to call up the maid again.
"Don’t bother." Alvira said looking at him with a pleasant smile but he stared at her angrily. He could clearly see the mocking smile on her face and it pissed him off."They already told me what I needed to hear about your rules." Alvira said as she began to pace, "And they are very nice rules I must say Mr. Simon. Can I call you Mr. Simon or you prefer your royal highness." Alvira asked as she suddenly turned to him.Simon’s face twisted with anger. How dare this bitch insult him?He reached for the phone it doesn't matter if they had lectured her or not. He would make the guards bundle this street urchin and throw her out."I said don't bother! The phone won't work. I cut off its connection before coming upstairs." Alvira declared and Simon looked at her shocked. He had never met someone who would dare do such a thing in his life. What he didn’t know was that Alvira was gambling. She was going for a resort that she hoped could help her keep this job. Since she now knew being submissive and understanding didn’t work with this patient.
"How dare you?!" He growled with a twisted face."I’m sorry Mr. Simon but I had no choice, you! gave me no choice. You see the phone beside your bed seem to make you forget something very vital." Alvira stated with shiny eyes and this information she held that Simon hadn't realize drew his attention, he was mad but he wanted to know what this caregiver was playing at.If she was really bold enough to tamper with his phone connection, she could suffers something worse than getting fired, he could easily frame her and make her end up in jail for a long time."You are crippled." Alvira stated as if it meant nothing and anger busted within Simon."How dare you!""What! It annoys you? Do you feel humiliated Mr. Simon? Well you shouldn't because there are many people who would mind saying that in your face out there where there would be people to laugh at you. You are crippled and the phone beside you makes you forget how much you need a caregiver." Alvira stated silencing the fuming Simon.“I don’t need anyone.” Simon said through gritted teeth but Alvira ignored him and continued.
"Another thing you don't understand is you don't make the rules, I am your caregiver, I make the rules and my rules are simple, from now on I would be in charge of taking care of you. I don't care what your opinions are. If it makes you so angry try walking again." Alvira said angrily not thinking about the consequences of the words she said. This was what she was like. She was a very nice and jovial person and just like every other extrovert, her anger was a pain in the ass."You are fired!" Simon said in a low voice that seem like a growl."What?" Alvira asked. Pretending not to hear him."You are fired!" He thundered but Alvira laughed mockingly."You can't fire me Mr. Simon, you didn't employ me, so you have no power over that." She said and Simon’s face twisted like someone who was about to have a convulsion while Alvira smiled sweetly at his helplessness."Now that we have discussed the rules, I would go get someone to help you freshen up, then we would get you breakfast." Alvira said with a smile and quickly walked out of the room.Though she said she had cut off the phone link it was all a lie, she knew it was only a matter of time before Simon found out, so she had to cut it in person before he found out.
Alvira left the fuming Simon speechless. He was so angry he didn't even know how to react, he had never met a person so disrespectful, annoying, and hateful in his life. He wonder how her parents taught her.How dare she flaunt in his face that he could not fire her. She wanted his grandparents to do the firing? Fine. He would give her just that. He would tell his grandparent all the nonsense she had done today and have her fired. He thought with a smile. But in his eagerness he didn't realize how miserable and dependent he would be without the bedside phone. If he had known, he would have probably requested a replacement instead.Butler Jared gave Alvira's innocent smile a weird gaze. The words she spoke was not only strange, they were also practically impossible and made absolutely no sense. Sir Simon would never ask anyone to cut off his phone connection from the main house.Seeing he didn't believe her Alvira sighed putting on her acting skills. It was a in this moments that the role playing she and her father always did would benefit herEven though she wasn't planning to be an actress but a marketer in the future, she could still act pretty well. "Do you want to go and ask him yourself? You can go. Just don’t call him. He is pretty annoyed about something that has to do with the phone. I don't know what it is." Alvira said skillfully with a depressed look.Jared, looked at Alvira again. He had already heard of Sir Simon’s anger this morning and was impressed that the girl could even go back there and convince Sir Simon to give her another chance to try.In the past, when Sir Simon told them to teach someo
Ben and Sarah laughed loudly until tears ran down their eyes as they listened to Jared tell them the events of the day, especially what had transpired between Simon and Alvira.Even though it was shocking to hear someone act like that, it was also a great relief, at least now they have someone who could match up with the stubborn Simon, and if all things were equal, she might be able to force him out of the prison that he had turned that room into. "If we had gotten her employed here earlier, I wonder how much progress we would have made with Simon," Ben said as he wiped his tears. "That is very true sir, not only did she force Sir Simon to let others help him, she also made sure he ate the breakfast prepared by the cook," Jared explained. "Really? He ate the food Edda made?" Sarah asked with surprise. "Yes madam, he did," Jared said. "Hmmm nice," Sarah said with a nod, "when did she get off work?" she asked again. "6 pm, she left when Sir Simon had his dinner and had no other n
Alvira came to work the next day, with a bounce on her feet, and the reception she received was the total opposite of the one she got the previous day, today, right from the gate she noticed the smile and the look of worship that the security guards gave her, and like yesterday, Alvira didn't understand why? The previous day, when she returned to the hospital, she had told her father what Simon was like and he had told her to exercise patience and had joked that not everybody was as well-behaved as he was. Even if her father didn't say that she had decided from the start that she was going to endure Simon till the end.The front door opened before she could knock and Lara stepped out beaming at her "Miss Alvira, I see you've arrived, please come with me, Mr. and Mrs. Walker, want you to have breakfast with them," Lara said as he walked towards her with a smile. "Okay," Alvira said as she followed Lara into the mansion,As they made their way towards the dining room, passing maids
Life was an ass! And Simon hasn't seen anything as frustrating as his life. He had gone downstairs the night before to make sure he never saw the face of that annoying woman again, but instead, he had made her receive the approval of his family and even the servants. To say he didn't feel the celebration in the air was an understatement, he felt it so much he had gone to bed in anger, and now he was awake and was still angry. The most annoying part of this was that he had lost all the right to fire her. His grandfather had specifically stated that she would only lose the job if she chooses to quit by herself. How did it end up like this, his grandfather, even though annoying has never forced him to retain any servant against his will, not before her, so why her? Why now? It was all because of that stupid woman who cut off his land phone, if she hadn't, would he have gone downstairs? Or cause the mess that was going on right now? He should have just waited till today to fire her u
Even though Alvira arrived early the next day with the hope of setting a new pace, one different from the futile effort she went through the day before, all hope of achieving that was dashed the moment she walked in through the door to Simon's room. Simon, who was still laying on his bed, welcomed her with a smile. "Miss Alvira, you are finally here. You're just the person I have been wanting to see," He said. "....." Alvira stared at him speechlessly, she had arrived early today but he made it seem as if she arrived later than the previous day. Moreover, why does his room look like it hasn't been cleaned yet? She had better go downstairs and remind the maids of their duty, she thought. "Good morning, Sir Simon, did you sleep well?" She asked with a forced smile. To be honest, she wasn't exactly happy to see Sir Simon that morning, she had come early hoping to have a few minutes to herself before she saw him, only for a maid to tell her, Sir Simon is waiting for her upstairs and
Alvira groaned as she rolled to lie on her stomach at the edge of her soft bed and slowly opened her eyes. It was the first time she was sleeping in her bed this week, it was also the first time she wasn't being woken up by the loud annoying sound of her phone alarm, which she has to manage since she accidentally ruined the manual alarm clock she owns. It was also a day free from her abusive boss, who was no other than Sir Simon. She no longer saw him as her patient, no patient treated their caregiver the way he treated her. She thought with a sigh as she began to get moody at the nature of her job and the amount of stress she had gone through in one week. Luckily for her, her mother had asked her to come to spend the night at home when she returned home last night since she didn't have night shifts on Friday night. Alvira was most grateful for the offer that she ran home and fell on her bed with a heavy thud, dozing off before her head even hit the pillow, she didn't even bother t
While Alvira was planning her day happily, the walker's mansion was fairly the same but for a different reason entirely, Simon woke up this morning with the kind of excitement he had not had in a long time, he had another plan in place for Alvira and he couldn't wait for her to come over. He was so excited, he got on his wheelchair the moment he woke up, called Jared in to help him pick his clothes, took a bath, applied his long abandoned cologne, had breakfast, and waited patiently, as he read the newspaper, which had become a habit of his since he began to bully the poor girl. Hours passed and he looked up at the wall clock in his room which read '10:15 am', he frowned. "She is rather late today," He said to himself then smiled wickedly, "that's okay, I could easily deduct her salary as a result of that," He said as he resumed reading the news that had now captured his attention. Unfortunately for him, his family business news was on the last page of the newspaper, he read throu
Alvira had spent her entire morning baking and making strawberry smoothies, a skill she had acquired during her time as a waiter at a lunch cafe. She then packed the food and snacks into a lunch box and basket and rushed off to St. Josie hospital. "Morning dad!" She chirped as she walked into her father's hospital room. "Good morning darling. Wow! Is that a new dress? It looks amazing on you, my dear." Tim said fawning over his daughter who twirled at his words and giggled. "Thanks, dad." She said as she placed the picnic basket on the floor and sat on the chair beside his bed. "Where's mom?" she asked, her eyes drifting to the bathroom door." "Oh, she was invited by the doctor to his office, she would be here any minute now." He said with a smile, but Alvira's brows furrowed in worry,"The doctor? Is there a problem? Maybe I should join them," She said with worry as she began to stand up. Tim immediately held her hand, "Where do you think you are going, your father hasn't had a
In a small town somewhere in Australia, Clarisse walked down the snow-covered street vigilantly, dressed in heavy padded jackets with a scarf covering her face tightly. She had been hiding here since she escaped the country and had been listening to the news of Josh and Lana in the country.Hearing of Josh’s death, she was more than excited, she was even glad that she had left him at the time she did, if not, only God knows what would have happened to her now, as for Lana that delusional bitch, hehe. Serves her right. She rang the bell of her home, a small apartment where she lived with her boyfriend who she had found in her first week in this town. He was handsome and romantic and he just made her happy. She rang the bell continuously wondering why he was not opening the door. She walked to the one place where they kept the spare house key, under a stone slab by the door but the key wasn’t there. She tried calling him but his phone was unreachable, so she knew she had no choice but
It was obvious that Josh had finally lost his mind and was trying to get everyone killed. Lana looked around from her hiding place in search of Simon. In this situation, if she could escape with Simon, it would be great. She thought, forgetting that she was wanted by the law. Just as she saw him and wanted to crawl to his side, Josh also saw her, this woman owed him a blood debt, and she dared ruin his plan. He thought with anger as he saw many of his men fall to the ground dead, he also wanted her dead.He aimed for her head. At that moment Lana felt a sense of crisis, looked behind her, and saw him pointing the gun at her. Her eyes widened in panic. Josh smiled at her, he hoped she would regret ever talking down on him.“No!” Lana screamed before the gun was shot and she was silenced forever, a bullet hole in her head. Even until her death, she was looking towards Simon with longing, failing to realize he was not the perfect man she envisioned. He was a man with flaws just like ev
Minutes before the gunshot, Simon walked into the building flagged by Josh’s men, unaware that they had been followed by Asher and that the police were not far behind. The hideout was an abandoned food processing factory in an area marked for demotion in town, no one could have guessed that criminals were hiding in such an unstable environment. He followed the men into the not-so-tidy office that must have been the director’s when the factory was still functioning and saw Josh who he hadn’t seen in the past three weeks seated there with a smirk on his face.“Hello cousin, happy to see me?” Josh, who was resting back in the chair, his arms spread out and a happy smirk plastered on his face asked.Simon didn’t care about him or the men surrounding him, he didn’t even care if Josh wouldn’t allow him to leave this place alive, all he wanted to know was if Alvira was safe and sound.“I have what you want,” Simon said seriously as he placed the black box on the creaking table before lookin
Alvira felt herself sink to the bottom of the transparent tank the moment she landed in, only then did she notice that the rope tied around her waist was inlaid with sandbags to keep her at the bottom and made swimming to the surface hard. She tried to swim upward but it felt as if she was only expending her energy wastefully, while Lana laughed at her from without.Lana knocked on the wall of the tank, drawing Alvira’s attention to herself, before going to pick up a chalk and a board and wrote, “Didn’t you say you would rather die than let my plans work? What then are you struggling to survive for? If you die, Simon might just be free from me forever.” She wrote with a smile and the struggling Alvira paused. It was true. If she survived, what was she surviving for? Wasn’t it for Lana to keep on playing with her, hurting Simon and causing him to do things that he shouldn’t do? What was she living for if she was nothing but a weakness to the man she loved? She thought and suddenly fel
Detective Peter frowned uneasily as he stared at the location where the van had been seen, which was marked on the GPS map. It was about an hour ride away from the St. Joseph hospital and out of town, he didn’t understand why these men would come to a damaged car garage with Alvira. There was no hidden place to keep her there, so why bring her? Was some kind of exchange supposed to go on there? Why did he feel something was off? He was wondering when he got Asher’s call, when he heard Asher’s question he felt even more flustered and confused, was there something he was missing? He picked up his phone and called Kalvin.“Hello? Are you with Simon?”“Yes sir, he had an emergency, so I went to get the doctor for him,” Kalvin told him.“Okay,” That’s understandable, “But your Lane is with him right?”“...No sir, he went to get Mr. Simon something to eat.”“So you mean no one is with Simon at the moment?”“We…ll, yes sir…”“What!” Peter shouted and the detectives in the same car as him lo
“Josh! Josh!” Jared walked into the slightly messy but old office with anger just as Josh got off the phone with Simon. “Are you messing with me right now? Why didn’t you tell me when you got Alvira? It’s been five hours.”Josh's eyes flashed with impatience before he turned to Jared with a smile, “What are you so worked up about? I obviously tried to call you but the call was not going through.” Josh said as he placed another call.“Hello? It’s me. I need a huge diversion. One big enough to get those detectives out of the hospital.”Jared's face darkened when he heard the content of the call, “You are planning to send Simon over?”Josh glanced at him but didn’t respond immediately, he ended his call before turning to him, “Calm down Jared, we are all partners now. The least you can do is trust me.”“Trust you? You didn’t even call me over when you got her and now Simon is coming here. How can I trust you when I don’t know what exactly you are planning?” Jared asked unhappily. “If I
It’s been a week since Simon was shot and life became more peaceful than anyone expected. Josh and Lana disappeared from the eyes of the public and the police investigation was hitting a dead end everywhere. Their whereabouts could not be found and it was obvious that some powerful people were helping them, but those helping them could not be discovered either. For Alvira life was pretty much good, she and Simon were reconciled and they were even more attached than they used to be in the past. She guessed that when people go through challenges together, their feelings for each other get deeply rooted. Simon was still forcefully hospitalized, as his hand was still in the cast, and the new physiotherapist didn’t trust him to be careful with his leg even though it was fine. As much as she wanted to stay with him at the hospital, she also needed to rush back to school to finish her exams. She walked out of a high-end restaurant, with takeout bags in her hand followed by the detectives th
[A shootout occurred at a coffee shop down lane 23 today, Mr. Simon Walker who was present at the sight of the shootout was injured and has been hospitalized, as at the time this report was made, his present condition is still unknown. The police, during their investigation however discovered that Joshua Stone, a highly wanted criminal, working hand-in-hand with a woman called Lana Jones, daughter of the millionaire, Mr. George Jones was the culprit in yesterday’s shootout. As a result, these two suspects are declared wanted….]The TV was switched off before the reporter could finish her report and Lana turned to Josh angrily, “What the hell do you think you are doing?! You. Shot. Simon? Why did you shoot Simon?! The one you were supposed to shoot was Alvira! That was the plan! That was why I got you out of jail?!”“Stop freaking out! You were there, weren’t you? He took the bullet for her, couldn’t you see that? He took it for her before my man could shoot her down.”“That’s a lie!
The next time Simon opened his eyes, he was in his private ward at St Joseph Hospital. He looked around confused, tried to sit up, and was immediately helped by Sarah who had arrived at one point in time.“Grandma? What are you doing here?”“Silly child, what do you mean what am I doing here? I am your family.”“Yes.., yes, I know. I am sorry.” Simon looked around the room, “Alvira…, where is she?”“She’s fine. She’s giving her statement to the police as we speak and your grandpa went with her, I must say, you did a good job this time. Alvira finally forgave you.” Sarah teased as she nodded towards his casted hand which was hung to his neck.Simon followed her line of sight and sighed helplessly. His grandma was always like this, trying to cheer a patient with the weirdest joke. “Grandma, I didn’t wish to get shot at.”“But it was still a good thing in disguise, wasn't it?” She winked and smiled. The door to the ward opened and Alvira walked in, seeing Simon awake in bed she rushed to
