Kathrina POV

"Tell me you're lying, Kathrina," Hayden demanded, almost yelling.

"It's the truth," I said, not being able to stare directly at him.

"Deal with your petty absurd issues. I'm off," Rylan said. I spun. He waved vaguely at me before entering his jeep then zoomed off.

I whirled back to see Monna at the door.

"Come take this in, please," I told her.

She rushed up to me.

"Hi, Hayden. You're here?" Hayden nodded and looked away.

"I will just take these things." She shrugged and took the bags from me.

"Oww, they're fucking heavy. What did you have in these bags?" Monna groaned as she entered the house.

"When and how did you become friends with Rylan?" Hayden asked. I stared at him, pressing my lips to a line.

I really didn't know where to start from.

"Just tell me…why did you?" He asked again, this time with a hoarse voice.

"It's…kind of complicated," I found my voice. "I befriended him because of his mother," I paused, having a rethink.
